I have fish the intracoastal in Fort Lauderdale for years. My go to bait for Mangrove snappers. Is silversides. Break them in half and use a small hook with a light knocker rig
Great video! I love catching mangrove snapper. I use cut mullet and have no problem limiting out every time. Mullet is better than shrimp imo bc shrimp come off the hook too easy. Mullet stays on for so much longer while the fish are nagging at it
Great question my friend ! Me personally, I’ve Never used cut up sand trout before. So I really can’t speak on it. I guess the only way to know if it will work is to give it try. However, I do know they definitely like Threadfins, cut up Lady fish, Pinfish or finger mullet. Please let me know if you catch any on the cut up Sand Trout. I’m curious to find out. 👍
Im gonna try your way of catching snapper. I love the taste of mangrove snapper

Do you ever go for flounder?
Great question! I’ve never gone out and targeted Flounder only. I’ll definitely have to give it go. How about you?
Where you fishing? Florida? What city?
This is over by St.Pete Beach, Florida.
Would this work with a using jighead instead in deeper water under a bridge?
Yes it could. Just depends on type of jig head. Crusher jigs or yellowtail snapper jigs would work great. Size 1/4 oz. Hope this helps. 👍
Hi Derrick, where is this location?

Will cut up sand trout work ?

@hookedonfishingforreel I will. They are legal to use as bait. In Texas, at least. I think lol
did you let the bait hit the bottom?
Yes! I had a small split shot about 18 inches up from the hook; which allowed the bait to sink slowly in the water column to the bottom.
You didn't mention about your rig
@@zayadmohsin yeah! It’s a pretty simple rig. Medium light rod, 2500 Diawa spinning reel,15 Lb braid, 20 Lb. Leader, size #1 short shank J hook, snd a size 7 split shot 18i inches from the hook itself. 👍
@hookedonfishingforreel thanks noted

Here in Miami most of those little parks have a fence with no fishing signs all around, or homeless drug addicts wandering around. Stay safe!
