Ha! Ha! Chase ... Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet ... the early days of synth-pop with all of those experimental sounds ...! Now think of another band from the same time with similar experimental music ... yes Vince Clarke was originally with your old favourites ... Depeche Mode ...!!😊
Welcome to the world of Vince Clarke. He's a synth genius. I was wondering when you'd get around to him. Now you should check out Erasure, the group he formed after Yazoo and they're still making music now 🙂
The two albums by this duo are classic synth pop masterpieces. Vince Clarke has the Midas touch. He started in Depeche Mode. Then moved to Yaz and settled with Erasure in 1986 where he’s been for the last 35, 40 years. Every project he’s been in has generated monstrous classic synth pop bangers.
I was in high school/college during the 80's, and I lovefd the synth-pop of that time. The vocalist of Yaz was Allison Moyet, and the synth-master was Vince Clark, who is also a founding member of synth-pop gods, Depeche Mode, and , later Erasure with Andy Bell. Vince is an extremely talented and creative musician who really pushed the envelope, and progrssed hbis synth compositions to absolute pop perfection. If you get the opportunity, Chase listen to Yaz(the name of this band), Upstairs at Eric's is the name of the cd-it's an epic listen. I highly recommend it.
1. Do not dismiss that voice! That is Alison Moyet. She is a legend. 2. The story of Yazoo should be a movie. Vince Clarke left Depeche Mode just before they hit it big because he didn’t like the direction their music was going. In an effort to keep his song writing contract with the record company he offered the band a song but they declined it. He read an ad in a local music ad from a singer looking for work. He hired her to make a demo of his song. The record company loved it and said they should make an album together. The song was ‘Only you’. It was released as a single and went to #2 on the UK charts. They went into the studio at churned out the album ‘Upstairs at Eric’s’ in weeks. It was a hit. Their musical chemistry was unreal. They were performing together on shows like Top of the Pops. They were touring the UK. A remix of ‘Situation’ was a huge hit in clubs in the US. They barely knew each other. They were thrown into instant success and fame together and really didn’t even know each other very well. Their second album was a different experience. They argued and butted heads. And they broke up before it was released. They never performed any song from that 2nd album live….until they did a small reunion tour 25 years later - in 2006. It was easily one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to and I practically grew up at Red Rocks.
Alison's strong and dynamic voice, paired with Vince's innovative sounds and masterfully creative arrangement keeps it fresh all the way through the song and year after year. Looong after it's initial release it would pop up in the clubs and pack the dancefloor.
Yazoo: Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke. Mr. Clarke was a founding member of Depeche Mode and left them after the first album, a difficult time for DM because Vince had written most of the first album. He went on to form Yazoo, The Assembly and finally Erasure. A keyboard genius!
In the beginning it was a b-side to their first single Only you. Then this U.S. remix happened (the original is much shorter and sounds a bit different) and it became a hit in itself. Incredible, 42 years old and still sounds fresh. Often electronic music is timeless. The singer, Alison Moyet, is well worth checking out too. Went solo after Yazoo (or Yaz as they were called in America) ended.
Yeahhhh Yazoooo 🙌🏻 Thank's for the reaction Chase 🙃 Situation is definitely my favorite song by Yazoo. Totally overshadowed by their two biggest hits 'Don't Go' & 'Only You'. I believe there is a music video but I'm not sure if it's official, it's a little weird thought. It's basically two creepy looking mannequins making out in a shop-window.
Great reaction. Yazoo had to change for yazz in the us as apparently was already a group called Yazoo out there. Both upstairs at Eric's and you and me both were awesome album's. The 12 mix of shout by depeche mode is we'll worth checking out if you liked this 😅
Yaz and Yazoo is the same group. The original name was Yazoo, but in the U.s they operated under the name Yaz due to trademark issues the Yazoo Records record label.
Alison Moyet is the voice of Yazoo (Yaz in America), and she is still going, better and stronger than ever. This was recorded last week: ua-cam.com/video/0HBjw1zD9sU/v-deo.html
Definitely check out "Only You" by Yazoo, such a great song and more by the group. If you think the sounds in this track are different than you're used to, than you absolutely need to hear the incredible track by New Order - "Blue Monday" it's a sonic wonderland from the 80s.
Welcome to synth pop.
OMG I used to dance the hell out of this song at the club. This song came on and the dance floor got mobbed; everyone was out there dancing.

Anything by Yazoo will be great along with Allison Moyet's solo stuff
Vince Clarke .... genius
Their song Don't Go is fantastic

Check out their song ‘State farm’ for another banger.
And then ‘Midnight’ to appreciate the best of Alison’s voice.
the unmistakable, irreplaceable, eternal...Alison Moyet

Electronic analog music from the early 80s is wonderful!
It's not analog. Those are digital synths.
This duo was Yazoo to the rest of the world but the name was already taken in the US, so here they are known as Yaz.

I swear the music industry is desperately trying to bury this kind of stuff away from younger listeners because nobody can match it these days
Us GenX parents just dig it back up again and make our GenZ kids listen to it in the car...lol.
@@chrismorgan9153 Love it! 🤣🤣🤣

banger!! ❤ Have you heard Blue Monday by New Order yet?
When you do listen to it you have to do the extended version.
It's called Exectronica or New Wave music. Was extremely popular into the 90's
'B' side of 'Only You'
Alison Moyet

the way you move - think you would have been a total club kid with us back in the day.
*YAZOO - DONT GO* from the same album

It was yaz in the united states
You need to listen to Depeche Mode "Personal Jesus " if you like this music. Just saying
You need to listen to some Erasure.
Teens can’t handle the most simple tempo changes in songs.
You should check out more British artists. They throw away the genre book and get real creative. Try Portishead
Synth brilliance, a total banger. 🕺🏼
