'Situation' was released TWO YEARS BEFORE Harold Faltermayer 'Axel F.' (Beberly Hills Cop).
Vince Clark is such a pioneer and thought he doesn't have the recognition he deserves, he's a little genius. Listen: founder of Depeche Mode (the first album was almost completely written by him, then left the band), founder of Yazoo (two amazing albums), The Assembly (short period) and founder of Erasure until today.

Yazoo, one of the pioneers of Synth-Pop. Great Pop duo. Great Rabbit hole to go down! Alison's bluesy voice paired with the cold synths mastery of Vince Clarke (Depeche Mode, Erasure, Yaz) was perfection!

Flashback! Yaz!! An old love turned me on to Yaz, as well as Depeche Mode, Echo & the Bunnymen, Thompson Twins, Bauhaus, Smiths, Fine Young Cannibals, and some other good stuff that made its way to the ear in the 90s. Thanks y'all! Long time!

That laugh that scared you, is one of the most sampled bits in recording history. Google 'Alison Moyet laugh sample'. It's astonishing. I thought I was clever when I recognised it in 'Macarena' years ago! Little did I know...
Apparently:" The laugh itself is a kind of sample: Moyet, reportedly startled by a reverb effect on her microphone during the recording session, broke out into a giggle. She and her Yazoo bandmate, Vince Clarke, and producers Daniel Miller and Eric Radcliffe decided to keep it. They placed it at the beginning, perhaps to set the tone. '"
Eventually, Vince formed Erasure with Andy Bell, who sounds remarkably like Alison Moyet. All this 80s synth pop is ❤❤❤❤ from my youth 😊
