For fl studio users --> to do this, send your vst to a mixer track, add eddison to the end of the effects chain. Have edisson record on input, and while your midi loops, add effects and tweak parameters. Go through the audio afterwards and find your moments! 🙏🙏🙏
Bitwig gets looked over so much tho....everything u saw decap do here you can literally do the same exact thing and more in Bitwig, bc BW was made by some early developers of Live but went their own unique way with the modulations and stuff.
What’s really cool about resampling is that sounds you generate are related to the first sound and generally will thus naturally go well with the elements they come from. A cool trick can be to even resample your entire master channel and throw it in different effect chains :) doing this will make you end up with custom samples to use later when you have beat block
Flume on his last album apparently said he was leaving his computer doing random stuff for long periods of time with everything recording and would then listen back to it later for interesting sounds
you are this generations mr.bill with ableton 10 instead of ableton live 8. these things always feel like secrets unless you’ve been using ableton the last decade. thank you for showing the people in 2021 that have no hope in ableton just starting making beats, it shows you the light.
This technique got a BIG boost in Live 11. Rack these effects up and macro some parameters, and then you can hit the "Randomize" button and instantly create new crazy sound combos. You can use macros for single plugins, or combine multiple effects in a single rack. Live 11 is HUGE for sound design.
I’ll try putting live 11 back on my computer. It was buggy when it first came out and held up my sessions so I just went ahead and went back to 10 until they did some updates
@@HumanBeingWithFeelings Once you show the Macro control knobs in an audio effect rack, a little "Rand" button should show up next to the "Map" button. It's not visible if the macros aren't visible though. I think if you only have one or two macro knobs visible, it will shrink the button and it will just show up as "R".
This is it! I do this in Logic where I have an audio track in my template which is specially for resampling. One of the best things is to put Output Portal on your track, hit record and just cycle through presets/mess with parameters and you generate crazy amounts of different audio material from one simple sound source its beautiful!
If you want to stop and start the track without hitting space to stop first, simply hold CTRL and press space. Good for testing if a sample snippet will make a drum.
a really cool way to use resampling is to re sample an audio with it and grab the box and move it left and right whilst you do it! gives it a lush choppy affect, great way to progress samples
Dude! Resampling is awesome, been part of my music for years. New plugin technology , has opened up a lot of possibilities when resampling. You can end up with some truly unique, odd, and experimental outcomes. Some of my favorite sounds come from sessions like this, it makes my tracks stand out. Way better than presets lol. Keep up the great content bro
At 01:30 how does it remember all of Decap’s noodling when it’s constantly looping and, I’m guessing, overdubbing? And what’s the significance, if anything, of dragging the resulting audio clip backwards? Thank you, I learned a lot here…insta-subbed immediately.
this is great, I was doing it slightly different but basically the same thing, the possibilities are endless. That ear candy can become something that sticks to the ear of the listener and become something important and characteristic of the song. cheers!
gonna add one of my favs for anyone looking for more tricks to try. Put something like half time on a loop with a pitch shifter before it and manually change the sample pitch running into the time based effect. Resample that shiz for some really interesting transition sounds!
I never knew I can drag the sampled sounds and get all the sound! I thought the sampled I get is only the one within the repeat line.. Or is it only Live 11 feature? I hope not!
I do this alot but I usually just automate the midi with knobs and freeze. If i want the original I just duplicate. For longer sound design session itd be useful to be able to loop it like here

IMO this is why Ableton is so popular with EDM artists. Resampling is the best way to make tracks unique and Abelton makes it so easy

@@nebroskitheraut6705 yeah Bitwig underrated af, i use Ableton but Bitwig has so much going for it it doesn’t get the recognition it needs!
For sure. The most crazy sound design comes from audio warping & Ableton is king at at. Just the way you can stretched the audio is insane.
@@LiveForLoss Is warping only available in the standard and above editions?
@@westchef7 All version even Lite.

Sounds like a plan to me
Yes, he'd set up an arpeggiator and set it to random, then come back like an hour later and then use what's there. Incredibly talented man he is
2:55 imagine this part out of context, decap just saying "crazy, right?" and "Wooo" to a bunch of plops and random operator noises
Bruh he looks so faded when he does that lmao
Rest assure I made damn sure I watched that before watching the video from the beginning :D

where's the randomize button?
@@HumanBeingWithFeelings it’s an extra button inside Live 11’s racks

Love everything your doing. U really found your niche.

I watch every video from Decap
That is so cool but how can you perfectly bring any sound etc... To be in perfectly in tuning for a musically key please do a video on that thank You
Yup do this kind of stuff all the time. One of the main reasons why I love ableton. Best DAW

What's the difference of resampling? And just settling the tracks input from the other track ?

Knew about this for a while...but wayyy underestimated this trick. Gotta try it now.
Great tips. I’ve been stuck since I lost one of my best friends. Might of just sparked my creative outlet again thanks Decap!
Decap always coming thru with fire tips!
You explained this well, it’s a DNB technique. We do it with distorted basses. Slip editing helps

So creative, thanks Decap you always RECAP the things that I would say "I wish I would've known all of them before"
This is a good way to do fx and have them be in key . Really cool
