@@thelinktothegame6081 yeah, that's your fault. I thought the same of Cincinnati back in 2007, but then I moved away for a few years and traveled to most of the other cities in the country. Cincinnati is really a gem. It has gorgeous historical architecture, natural resources in the river and hills, and dense and diverse neighborhoods. The banks have been a major win for the city creating a legitimate destination entertainment district and the density of high quality restaurants in OtR is incredibly strong. Smale park may be the best riverfront park in the entire country.
I understand the Cincinnati way is to crap on the city--i used to do it myself--but having gone away and having seen other cities, Cincinnati is really a very good place to live.

Cincinnati is incredible! I grew up in western NY, visited Cincinnati for the first time in 2021, and had an absolute blast. The architecture downtown, with many art deco era skyscrapers, is phenomenal. People are friendly. Rivers/hills in the surroundings are beautiful. Amazing culture/museums/sports/things to do.

😂 you’re completely insane. Cincinnati is a dump. It’s ugly. It’s boring. It’s old and unrestored. A bleak history with an even bleaker future ahead. And I have no clue what your idea of culture is but I imagine it’s somewhere along the lines of ordering “The Tour of Italy” at The Olive Garden. Can’t say much about the people and the rolling hills are okay but the one thing the city has going for it are incredible breweries - Urban Artifact, Fibonacci, Brink - all were a blast to go to. Nice ball park too. That’s it. If you want a true gem of a city very close by check out Louisville. Excellent food, beautiful culture that clashes together Confederate Southern history with a Midwest vibe. Tons of parks sprawled throughout the city too. Very underrated. Cincinnati is a dump though. I’m sorry but anyone who sees it as a cool city must have been on acid their entire time there.

Cincinnati was dubbed the Queen of the West by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in 1854. He wrote a poem called Catawba Wine the last stanza of which is:
And this Song of the Vine,
    This greeting of mine,
The winds and the birds shall deliver
To the Queen of the West,
    In her garlands dressed,
On the banks of the Beautiful River.
It was written as a sort of thank you note to Nicholas Longworth who had sent Longfellow a case of his wine made from Catawba grapes which he grew in a vineyard on Cincinnati's Mt. Adams in what is now Eden Park.

Walk The Moon had always been known for their infectious energy and vibrant stage presence, but their latest project took things in a completely different direction. The band, consisting of Nicholas Petricca, Sam Cole, Nick Lerangis, Chris Robinson, Eli Maiman, Adam Reifnyder, Kevin Ray, Ricky Human, Adrian Galvin, and Sean Waugaman, decided to pay tribute to some of the most iconic movie soundtracks of all time by recording a series of tracks for a special album called "Movie to Song."
The album featured covers of songs from classic films such as "To Be A Royal Princess" (1979), "Cinderella" (1959), "Tangled" (2010), "Mary Poppins" (1964), "A Fairy Tale After All" (2022), "The Greatest Showman" (2017), "State Fair" (1945), and "Evita" (1996). Each track was given the Walk The Moon treatment, with their signature upbeat sound and catchy melodies shining through.
As they worked on the album, the band members found themselves inspired by the timeless magic of these beloved films. Nicholas Petricca poured his heart and soul into his vocals, Sam Cole and Nick Lerangis laid down some killer guitar riffs, while Chris Robinson brought his unique flair to the drums. Eli Maiman and Adam Reifnyder's infectious energy added an extra layer of depth to the tracks, while Kevin Ray's bass lines held everything together.

Together, Walk The Moon created a truly magical listening experience that transported listeners to a world of wonder and nostalgia.
The album was met with critical acclaim, with fans praising the band's creativity and musicianship. Walk The Moon had once again proven that they were not afraid to take risks and push the boundaries of their sound. As they moved forward, the band knew that they would continue to explore new musical territories and delight audiences around the world with their unique blend of talent and innovation.

I believe they also have an observation deck in one of the skyscrapers and that is always a “must do” for my wife and I. I did not know the history of the bridge across to Kentucky, so that was cool. And the Sign Museum was also a nice surprise. We would see that as well. Hard to say if Cincinnati has more to do than Cleveland or Columbus. I’ll leave that up to the local Ohioans to decide. One thing about Findlay Market not mentioned: It has the flags of many nations on signs attached to the streetlights, or at least that was the case when I visited in 2018. One other thing about Over The Rhine: while it's better than it has been in the past, it's still not quite the safest area in Cincinnati.

But it has undergone a spectacular revival in the last 20 years from a rather rundown and sometimes dangerous area to the home of many interesting, fun restaurants, most unique to Cincinnati. Lots of sporting events, and a bunch of other fun things to do as well. If you do choose to live or visit Cincinnati just be careful as crime is definitely an issue in certain parts of the city and surrounding neighborhoods. Been jumped, robbed, and had my car broken into multiple times. Lots of shootings are happening as well. So as great of a city it is, just be careful.

Good skyline, but I agree it’s not in the top 10. I think some rank is so high because of the awesome topography along the Ohio River, and the incredible entrance into Cincinnati from Kentucky on Interstates 71/75 (and even 471 to a lesser degree). Definitely a top 10 ENTRANCE into an American city!
Also, it’s worth noting that the second tallest building in the city was built in 1931, and the third tallest (my personal favorite) was built in 1913! At the time, it was the tallest building in the world outside of NYC and Philadelphia.

Northern Kentucky is barely noted despite Covington having its own Skyline, CVG airport being Cincinnati airport (and Amazon air's headquarters), and having the metro second largest university (NKU).
Then there are other aspects in the grander metro like Kings Island.

I'd love to add that Cincinnati chili is probably better thought of as a Greek immigrant's take on a bolognese. Contrary to popular belief, allergy info reveals that not a single Cinci chili parlor adds chocolate. Instead it is a mix of spices like cumin, tumeric, and cinnamon like you might expect more from like shawarma chicken. When you expect a meat sauce in this flavor range instead of actual chili, it becomes a lot less weird on hotdogs or spaghetti.
Also worth noting that smaller parlors (like Camp Washington and Blue Ash Chili) tend to be better than the more fast-food parlors like Skyline and Gold Star.
Also also, idk why more people dont push Goetta more than the chili as a Cinci food. It is a sweet grain breakfast sausage made in Cinci that i feel like probably has a broader appeal...

Cincinnati definitely gets stuck in the shadows of Atlanta, Charlotte and Nashville a lot. It's an underrated, overlooked Southern city, and a pretty decent one at that (if flat land and lack of outdoor stuff doesn't bother you). It's also pretty close to the Midwest, which is a plus (you can get to more open-minded places like Illinois and Michigan within a day's drive, unlike in other parts of the South).

That's not the case for Cincinnati. The Kentucky counties included are absolutely part of greater Cincinnati, as is Dearborn cty in Indiana. Cincy sits right on the river, which is also a state border, so on paper, it loses close to 100k of population, when those communities across that river, are right on the edge of Downtown. But not counted as "city population" but they are in the community, and we deal with the traffic..lol

Wow! I am so surprised you didn't cover anything more about Over the Rhine, other than a mention about its historic area... No mention of the canal that gained the nickname, "The Rhine" because of the large population of German immigrants north of it? And the neighborhood's moniker, since once you crossed over the canal, you were in "Over the Rhine"? No mention of the neighborhood's dazzling history in hosting the great Ohio Exibitions during the late 1800s, and early 1900s where the city did such things as, building entire buildings expressly for their use, and importing gondolas from Venice for rides on the canal? Cincinnati's huge presence in beer brewing before prohibition, that surpassed even Milwaukee's, (with many of the original brewery buildings now in use for that once again)? Or, its amazing recent rebirth, with the renovation of 100's of historic buildings, now housing quaint restaurants, shops, residences, and boutique hotels? The fabulous renovation of Washington Park directly across the street from Music Hall with its two performance areas, and interactive lighted fountains? Hmmm, seems like you may have missed a thing or two on your visit... Do come back again, and dip your toes a little deeper into our waters...😊

Cincinnati. Better architecture, dense neighborhoods, better geography, better cultural/entertainment options, and a real energy to improve. The biggest con is that the suburbs are very conservative and very racist.
Columbus may get there eventually, as it has absolutely exploded in population over the last two decades, but historically it's a much smaller city. It's flat, has dull architecture, and everything is sprawling and spread out. In that regard, it resembles a southern city like Nashville or Dallas whereas Cincinnati is like a mini Chicago with hills and a river instead of a lake.
Cleveland is just sad. It used to be great but the population has collapsed and the city simply feels empty. They desperately need a Cincinnati style renaissance but haven't even turned the corner yet. It's still in decline so it's a long way from improving.

Columbus has a lot going for it in the younger, more diverse population and growing economy, but the natural and historic resources that Cincinnati has cannot be matched. And over the last 20 years, the urban revitalization in Cincinnati has been one of the most remarkable in the country, even with pretty stagnant population growth. The energy behind the redevelopment shows a pride in the city and a respect for the history that Columbus does not and can never have..
