I live in northern Ohio, I wasn't really familiar with Cincinnati until my son was in school there. Cincinnati is actually really well put together while having a cool randomness to it. The downtown area is really accessible to walking and some biking, The Connector make traversing parts of the city great. Being used to Cleveland and Toledo, I can tell you that Cincinnati is way prettier and more geared towards it's residents in general instead of just focusing on a couple of things (Cleveland IE Browns/Cavs).

One thing I like about SW Ohio that doesn't get mentioned often (although it is in this video) is the fact that it's on the far western edge of the Eastern Time Zone. So, we get later sunrise and later sunset times than a lot of people.
For instance, in Boston today the sunrise was at 5:31 AM, in Cincinnati it was 6:30 AM. Sunset in Boston is expected to be at 7:51 PM and in Cincinnati at 8:38 PM. Both cities are in the Eastern time zone, but Boston is on the east side of the time zone and Cincinnati is on the extreme west of the time zone. At the height of summer we have a long stretch where the sunset is after 9 PM, and we never have to put up with sunlight waking us at 5:30 in the morning.

I just consulted my largest map and it looks like all of Scotland is closer to the North Pole than any of the USA, except for Alaska, which must account for such long days. Your assessment of Cincinnati is spot on. The one thing I would add is the architecture and charm of downtown. It is something only a few cities in our country have (Charleston, SC). Cost of living is why I moved my family here 10 years ago. Gray long winters is my only real gripe.

And I'll never forget he was emotional and nearly crying and he said "Man, that was eerie ! I was real good friends with Sam, we used to party together all the time and if I closed my eyes when you were doing your thing...I'd have sworn it was him !" WE moved to Cinci about 20 yrs ago and love it here. I agree with most of his points, but sports are not as big a deal as he is implying. FC Cinci won the Supporter Shield Cup which translates to winning the regular season so that was big. One thing we found weird was the clinging to HighSchool Identity. When meeting people for 1st time they always ask what HS we went to , In Northern Illinois no one cared about Highschool once you were an adult. A lot of adults walk around in Highschool team sports stuff. Weird.

  • @keithsowder4308

Very informative...but you left out a couple things. Although it's true that sometimes winter comes in November...often it doesn't get really cold until January. I remember one Xmas when it got over 80 degrees and me and my cousins played basketball all day outside. Also a lot of times we get the bulk of snowfall in February / March, we've even got snow in April before. And if you've lived here as long as I have ( I'm 65 ) we seem to always have a "false spring" in February / March. It's 3 or 4 days to a week where the sun comes out, the temp goes into the 70's or 80's, everyone thinks it's spring...and the next week it's 18 degrees out with snow! That's the great thing about this area...if you like seeing the seasons change, at times you can experience all 4 of them in a 24 - 48 hour period.
As far as sports, you left out NKU...they are now a Div. 1 program and always seem to have a good basketball program. As far as the Kelce's and Tayler "Twit", do what I did...IGNORE Travis and Taylor and only claim his brother Jason !
Also, as far as "Cincy Style" Chili...yes, it's weird if you're not from here...but everyone I've ever gotten to try it...it only took them tasting it one time to be hooked. My Wife is originally from South Carolina and lived in LA as well. The first time she came here to visit for a week, the first place I took her was Skyline, she liked it so well we must have eaten there 5 times that week, LOL ! Something else that I highly recommend is "Plesant Ridge Chili's " loaded fries....crisp French Fries cover in shredded Sharp Cheddar and Brown Gravy....mmmm, mmmm ! And you also forgot that aside from "Cincy Style" Chili ( which is actually a Greek Hamburger soup ) what we are known for is Pork and Beer. The nickname for Cincy is "Porkopolis" because at one time we were the U.S. largest producers of pork products especially Sausage. And although we don't have the number of pork producers and brewerys as we once did...we still are the home of "Kahn's" and still have some great Craft Breweries.
I think the best description of the Cincy / NKY area is it has a small town feel with all the big town amenities. Also, if you travel ( I did Stand Up for 20 years ) it's in close proximity to so many big cities. I loved it because I could do shows in Dayton, Columbus, Lexington, Louisville and Indianapolis and come back home that night after the show because they are all within about a 100 mile radius of Cincy. One other thing you briefly mentioned is our transit system...you were very generous with your comments. Frankly our transit system SUCKS ! I lived in Las Vegas for 3 years without a car...I never waited more than TEN minutes for a bus ! Yet, I worked a job in Elsmere, Ky. while living in Ludlow, Ky ( we're talking a 10 min. drive in your car ) it was a 9 -4 job...I had to leave my house by 7:45 am ...and I often wouldn't get home until nearly 6 pm because I had to transfer and the bus driver from Florence to Cincy was ALWAYS late getting to the terminal and I'd miss the connecting bus from the terminal to Ludlow. I've taken public transit all over the country and our transit sytem is by far the WORST ! Other than that Cincy is great...this area ( I'm including NKY ) is clean, the people are friendly. you have good schools, great healthcare and if you can't find something to do here you're within an hour, hour and a half drive of Indy, Dayton, Columbus, Lexington and Louisville...not to mention the Casinoes in Lawrenceburg and Miami Valley !

@@TeamSztanyo You're welcome...one more tip...there always seems to be gridlock on I-75 at Paddock Rd, exit and in NKY Buttermilk Pike exit.
P.S. For those allergies, take a tablespoon of raw, locally sourced Honey ( there's a great little farm that has an aviary and sells fresh honey in West Chester ) every morning and some Flaxseed oil. Trust me, for years like clockwork every May / June ragweed allergy would kill me...then August / September I'd suffer from Hay Fever...I started doing this and I never get either anymore ! But you have to let it build up in your system and the honey has to be locally sourced. when you think about it, it makes perfect sense, the allergy is caused by pollen, allergy shots are small amounts of that pollen designed to make your body develop antibodies to that pollen. The locally sourced honey is made from that same pollen...so it's like a natural allrgy shot.

Knox, then the next 10 blocks is the "Hood" or "The Barrio". You need to make yourself aware of the area..because 90% of the crimes occur in about 5% of the city. When I lived in Las Vegas...if you were in Vegas "proper" ( very close to the strip ) NO CRIME happened because the casinos were ran by the Mob and if you came into that area and started shit...you'd end up buried in the desert where no one would ever find you. You didn't venture out to North Vegas at night because THAT was "Gang - Central". Basically, if you stay in the suburbs, it's very safe here...just stay away from certain areas like Downtown.

Cincinnati is known for the riverfront's beauty, or at least it should be.
    - the Library, or it should be.
    - the University AND the medical education there - or it SHOULD be., also classical music.
This video? Sports and food -SOME food. Disappointing. La Rosa's pizza, why the silence?

@@jesscuzican5153 Actually they both put cinnamon in their chili...and while both are good,,,I prefer Dixie Chili over them, Price Hill Chili is good too.Gold Star has a good flavor but for me both Gold Star and Skyline are too runny. I loved Empress too...but I think only one location is open. Gourmet Chili in Newport is good too....BUT it's worth going there for their breakfast special Bacon, Sausage, Ham or Goetta, 3 Eggs, a big serving of really good, crispy Hashbrowns, 2 pieces of buttered
Toast..and I think it's like $7 ! They also serve one of the best Gyros you can find in around here.

Every city has really safe areas and not so safe areas. Stick to the better areas, especially at night. Don’t get involved with drugs, you will be fine.

Are you really from Cincy? I question. Rosemary is not George's mom. Nick is. Don Dahlman, my former neighbor on Hickory Hill, began the Nick Clooney and Phil Donahue show. Ron Sibcy is married to Paul Dixon's daughter of the Paul Dixon show. He married the chickens. Try to gain some history of your area. Multi Media/Channel 5 was a trend setter.

Don't forget Bob Braun, Ruth Lyons, Skipper Ryle, Uncle Al, The "Cool Ghoul", Bob Shreve, Al Schotellkotte, Bill Hemmer, Bob Holtzman, Jerry Springer...and on the negative side serial killers Charles Manson and Donald Harvey ! Musicians like Bootsy Collins...James Brown cut his first recording in a studio on Reading Rd. The actor Tyrone Powers was from here. In sports Barry Larkin, Ken Griffey Jr., Pete Rose, Oscar Robertson, Dave Cowens ( Newport, KY ) David Justice ( Covington ) Brian Pillman ( NFL and WWF ) etc.
