- The ALL NEW S580 is here and Mercedes Benz brought some big Changes for 2022. On the outside you will find all new lighting, sheet metal, and wheels. On the inside you will be greeted by a full leather interior, 15in infotainment screen, and digital gauge display. Under the hood is a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 496HP & mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2022 Mercedes Benz S580 a BETTER luxury sedan than a BMW 760i?

I love the S class but I think the previous design was so much more beautiful and luxurious and had its own look and now still looks great but more sporty now and more like the smaller models.
This will have sooo many electrical gremlins in the coming years, ughh. Took all elegance away
I agree Marlene, I don't like the front end of this new Benz style. Headlights don't look good, looks cheap.

You covered all points thanks! The new 7 series looks like a parasitic bug that has mated with an alien amoeba. S class any day, every day. However, this w223 looks very basic and if you park it next to C or E class, very hard to see difference. As many have quoted, the previous generation W222 was the best S class ever and sadly, Mercedes could not keep up to it's standards, interior, exterior, presence and elegance. And to make matters worse, they discontinued the coupe and cabriolet S class. The S63 AMG coupe from last generation was the best GT car you could buy under 200k. Now they are gone. The only real Benz worth buying today is the G63, the new SL and the 2 Maybachs. This is coming from a Benz owner since 1980. Over 12 MB vehicles since last 42 years.
A lot of people compare this S 580 with Genesis cars it’s sounds so funny Mercedes-Benz have been in market for a years even before my grandfather was born you can’t compare especially this one starting years 2021…2022… with any other brands ! This is a top flag ship of Mercedes-Benz Good job Joe as always:)

We just brought our MB 580 With AMG Package last month. What A ride. After coming from Jaguar and BMW, gotta say the MB 580 is more refined in Luxury and sport. We will keep it for about 4 years though because I really don’t want to pay crazy repairs. We do still have our Lexus LS460 but MB 580 is much nicer overall. Thank you Joe for the Great Review as always.

Gorgeous car. But why didn't they put the Mercedes Benz badge on the headrest. That little detail would've add more luxury to this sedan. Other than that, what a beautiful beast!!

The Mercedes S CLASS is so unique and unbelievably good.
This latest version of the S class looks great stylistically from the outside, more attractive than either the Audi A8 or BMW 7 series, but from the inside it just seems a bit gimmicky, the Audi and new 7 series just seem that bit classier, a bitless shouty with their technology.

$147k ridiculously expensive in my opinion. There is a reason for everything.
Love your content Raiti, you're always very energetic and entertaining in your videos. But I have to impart some objective criticism with this review. As this car isn't an AMG vehicle, starting out in Sport mode and bumping up to Sport + as you have done without the mention of how the car rides in comfort mode, is a great oversight. You want to have fun as a reviewer but let's be honest, buyers won't be driving it the way you have by thrashing it so much. The questions this class of car wants to address is: how does it absorb the bumps in the road? How good is the air suspension? What are the trade offs? Etc etc. You get what I'm saying. You can still have fun but the obvious sometimes does need a little attention. Thanks.
Thanks for the support and for the feedback. This car drives amazing no matter what mode you are in. The air suspension allows you to feel like you are driving on a cloud.

I'm gonna zonk the gloss black and the chrome details. Everything else is exquisite. The back seats are mindblowing.

The major issue with this car is the brake lockups sometimes when parking. You have to press harder on the gas pedal to be able to move the car. If you parked the car in parallel, good luck.

Honestly, I dislike this design - for some reason I see Infiniti style cues. Is it just me? Especially in the tail lights. Maybe to target Asian markets? I think BMW looks more masculine and imo that where I would go.
Its literally the size weight and width of a SUV damn that's amazing car. Big V8. Turbos. Amazing interior. WOWW! Best Luxury Sedan........Until the new BMW EV i7 drops. That cars front facia is pure pure new style luxury.

Joe this car has consistently since 2005 been out of this world I had a 2005 S class we were hit head on at 85 miles an hour and I was permanently sold in Mercedes’ Benz we walked away with out a scratch on us and we were hit by a BMW 7 series I’ve had BMWs and to be 100% honest with you here I’m not Impressed with any thing about them I’ve also had many SLs as well they are my all time favorites I had a 2003 designo that had a fence truck drop huge link fence secitions on me while on the interstate and I know I have always had a very heavy foot here if I hadn’t of ducked down I’d have had my head taken off very tramatic but once again proved it’s value to me I love Mercedes Benz and they stand behind what they make This video has definitely got me wanting another one now Thanks Joe your videos are the best keep them coming

The last model was so perfect, it was hard for them to top. The rear is not ugly, but it’s not interesting or elegant. Would have looked much better if the taillight was vertical, not horizontal. Don’t even think the interior is ascetically better compared to the last model.
Looks great! Does the lane keep assist feature still try to kill you? It used to vibrate once or twice and then just start braking. Pretty dangerous in the middle of an 80mph highway when you're close to a lane marker

JJ ~ me LIKEY grab one for me okay buddy, shhhhh it'll be our secret, I won't tell anyone. lol. Bentley has hood ornaments. when you park you have to remind yourself of the long wheelbase & the hood that hangs over more than other cars - or else you end up scrapping the crap out the the front. I dig the color - a little metal sparkles & the blue is a Luxury blue, not a Rainbow Brite Blue lol. simply put, it's dang classic & silky smooth looking - great touch up design. TWIN TURBO VB = means highway cruiser - get out of my way you peasants hahaha. WHAT A BRILLIANT CAR. BMW makes some dang decent cars but this S580 crushes the 7 series to dust. 10 years from now, the BENZ will still be beautiful & running great & the BMW 7 will be cracking apart & all the electrical systems will go out, & the engine will be choking. lol. the placement of the infotainment monster screen is perfect. it makes driving easy & comfortable. & chicks dig it lol. my birthday is in August (hint hint . . . LORI) ya just melt into the seats. when ya pull up,, the hookers see the car & know they will get paid, lol. there's nothing lacking - in 3 - 5 years from now it'll still be current. it's beautiful Joe - I'm so thankful you brought us delicious cars. does it feel like you're floating on the street? love ya Brother - tony

That big centre screen on the S-class and C-class is an overkill unfortunately. It distracts your attention away from the road. Mercedes should keep their models classic and driver friendly instead.
This S Class is so disappointing no new first Technology they have added .

Unless you make a 6 figure salary, forget it. But you could have a base S500 6 cylinder for a bit over $110K.
The only thing about Benz that bothers me is when i look inside their SUVS all i see is Chrysler Pacifica interior. Like Mercedes still wreaks of Chryslers DNA. But the sedans are mad dope. As long as they put that interior set up in more of their sedans that is.

Honestly the W222 will remain in my opinion the best looking S-class however this car is on another level with the technology within' it. Under that hood with the Twin-Turbo V8 is something very special. I am gonna zonk the dash though, not really my style with how it is on the passenger side, huge wood panel with nothing, but I mean there may not be much else you can put there.

For awhile Mercedes and others had retractable hood ornaments when the car was powered down. Guess they are cutting corners.
