Spa-like interior and sweating like a madman seem like very fitting things, no irony at all.
The Yin, and the Yang. Lol.

The technology involved with modern luxury cars is nothing short of mindblowing. My father, a boomer, never ceases to be blown away by the technology that us millenials take for granted. The 60s and 70s offered nothing close to anything like this.

Soooo... we just not gonna talk about that?
it was in someone’s music video, Rich the kid- Plug walk.
The volume adjustment is the biggest flaw of this new system. Cadillac tried to do something with touch volume adjustment and everyone hated it.
So did Honda, and they brought back volume knobs.
I really don't get why its taking so long for companies to realize people just want the knobs. You can shove pretty much everything else onto the screen though
I have this nice touchscreen Kenwood unit and it has these physical two buttons to raise and lower the volume... and it’s just weird compared to turning a dial. It just seems bizarre not to have it
Not even having a dial or knob on the steering wheel would make this car annoying for me. Every simple function in the interior that should be a button or switch is computerized and touch-sensitive smh.

Omg same this is why I like cars before 2014, no touch screens and buttons. This new *big screen control go brr* is shit. I blame tesla for it all of these manufacturers are now making these
@@shreyasalur exactly. If you drove a lot of cars, you know. Touch screens and "innovation" are a way to bait younger people into spending more money on new models. There is nothing more satisfying then blindly finding a knob or a button and turning it while you're driving fast. Touch screens absolutely piss me off when i have to press anything. Almost crashed several times because of that.
He blamed the Tesla’s for this, but when Mercedes does it everything’s fine ridiculous
Exactly. I cannot stand this push to make simple things complicated for absolutely no reason other than to have the illusion of innovation or 'coolness'. Another part that stood out to me was the buttons to control the airflow from the vents. Why does that need to have a button, and be electrically controlled? Why add such needless complexity? It's ridiculous.
@Mathhew
I am certain with this car you have the option of voice command and you never have to take eyes or hands off the wheel

He introduced 6"4 but the computer automatically selected 6"3 instead. That means even the latest Mercedes can't tell how tall really Doug is.
I just bought the 2023 S580 black on black with Night AMG package. Awesome luxury car!
I would argue that the collision notification feature should be on every new car, as well as the built-in dash cam.
Viofo A139 3-Channel Dash Camera
That feature would’ve came in handy when someone backed into the rear end of my car, and right in the view of the backup camera too. So it bugs me thinking about how easy it would’ve been to catch that person if the camera was able to be activated when it detects an impact
Absolutely!
Awww, the new S-Class. The pinnacle of the high life! Can't wait to buy it in 2032 for $9,000 😂
More like 2042
It's still gonna be Worth $40,000 in 10 years. At 20 years old it'll be worth $10,000. Don't forget to include inflation. For a 20 year old one it's 5,000 now. Inflation puts that at $10k in 2042.
@@thewiseguy3529 most 10 year old s classes now are worth 10-20k depending on mileage and condition
U thought that joke hit 🤣🤣
@@thewiseguy3529 and will still cost $20,000 for upkeep and maintenance.
Why don’t you buy a 2012 one now?
Mercedes internal memo: Manual controls unfortunately rarely break, so we need to replace as many of them as possible with electronic controls that do break. Also, we should create electronic controls for every function conceivable whether there's any practical need for those functions or not.
I think once people finally catch onto how dumb giant infotainment screens are luxury vehicles will all go back to physical controls for as much as possible while economy vehicles won't because the screens are cheaper. therefore making physical buttons a "luxury amenity"
I can understand how having to look at a touchscreen whilst driving to change the temperature is considered safer than a dial or button you can activate without taking your eyes off the road.
@@UA-camAIbot I've benn saying that for the last years unfortunately if Mercedes did it chances are the backup interface (voice control) would take over as the main way of interaction as soon as people reject the touch screen.
Manual controls rarely break- tell that to my CL55
@@absolutium nah i don't think voice control will ever become mainstream its been in cars for over 10 years now and they're all unreliable and a distraction.
IMO the most a screen should do is backup/parking cameras, radio/Audio, and any miscellaneous features not often used
Ambient lighting reminiscent of a 1990's Aiwa stereo system!
Yea, it seems a bit trashy and Las Vegas-y for an elegant car
Doug really sweating in the California heat, he's gotta lay off one of those two shirts LOL

holy shit yes
He reaches 50 year old and his voice will be very similar too 😄
Hahaha
All he has to do is buy a ‘94 celica
Crazy how a car that expensive doesn’t have air conditioning
I finally bought a 2021 S580 this year in 2024 used. I can confirm that a blender does NOT stay on from the plug. I tested this with my wife as a joke shortly after we purchased it in North Scottsdale because of this very video.
Thanks for encouraging entrepreneurs.
…Even if it will not blend.
I always wonder how the eventual owner feels about a 6’4 sweaty man sitting in every seat on their new interior.
*Feel sorry for the dude at Fletcher Jones who had to hose down the inside of that car after his sweaty ass went home* 😂
The passion of Doug for cars deserves a salute, despite of this much heat he don't seem bothered by it and continues to do what he does best. ❤❤
128K brand new.
3 years later, worth 30K w/ only 30k miles.
But $50k in maintenace due (brakes, tune up, alignment)

I'm pretty sure that "pen holder" is actually a phone holder 😂
Yes you are correct. The manual says "The mobile phone holder is designed for two mobile phones or one tablet. The devices can also be charged in the holder by inserting the charging cable into the devices through the opening on the underside of the holder." If it was for a pen you would have thought MB would have given you one considering the cost of the car!
So, gauge clusters have become WinAmp skins circa 2000. Really whips the llama’s ass!
Are these cars going to age well at all? I have serious doubts.
Underrated comment mate 😅 Absolutely agree. I don't know why gaudiness is increasingly becoming a sign of "luxury". Early 2000s era graphics, Euro dance party lighting and glossy surfaces everywhere are now somehow considered classy?!
Win Amp thats funny. I used to like that media player.
Bruh I loved WinAmp
70% of the kiddies on here are too young to get this lol
doug's testing the waterproof score of the cars interior
I hate how people bashed others for putting interior lighting in their cars but now Mercedes does it to the extreme and it's cool.
"I just made it hotter"
Doug please you're sweating enough already.
The old interior looks so much more classy.
Agree, this one with the pinstriped wood, perforated quilted seats, that ridiculous steering wheel with the pronounced horn, and all the lighting make it sort of "girly" or "new money". It's too much
@@moses_irl completely agree
The rear center armrest looks so cheap
@George Karakaew you never saw a S Class right?
@@moses_irl Girly? Barbie herself would be embarrassed to be seen in this gaudy, chintzy, unfocused nightmare of an interior
It looks like it was designed by an old man desperately trying to prove to his teenage gamer son that luxury cars can be "cool" so his kid will stop calling him a loser at the dinner table
What beautiful depreciation.
$90k value loss in 3 years. 'Tis majestic.
