- The Electric Bike Company Model Y is a sturdy and powerful step-thru cruiser electric bike that's assembled and customized in America. Extremely well supported with great customer service and an industry leading five year comprehensive warranty! Ships fully assembled, 100% ready to ride on day one. Extra emphasis on charger and battery quality here with extra fuses and higher quality parts. Comes standard with bright integrated lights (two 6-LED lights on the rear!) and reflective puncture-resistant tires that improve visibility and safety. The optional rack comes with a blinking rear-light pre-installed. Powerful 180mm hydraulic disc brakes with thick 2.3mm rotors, quad piston calipers, and large adjustable-reach levers with motor inhibitors are almost overkill for a cruiser but help to manage the higher possible speeds and heavier build. Highly adjustable drive modes offer Class 1, 2, or 3 operation (pedal assist, throttle, and 28mph options). The variable speed trigger throttle is easy to use and the sealed 12-magnet cadence sensor performs consistently. Extra large saddle, long steel handlebar, and high-volume balloon tires provide impressive comfort, but EBC also sells an optional seat post and suspension fork upgrade for further comfort. Amazing range of upgrade options include high capacity battery pack for extended range (20ah vs. 10.5ah), paint matched steel fenders and chain cover (or real wood), MIK compatible rear rack, cup holder and waterproof speakers, bags and custom-painted baskets... Price jumps considerably if you change from the stock white color, shipping costs extra, the headlight does not point where you steer, steel parts can rust if scratched (but they include touch-up paint).

Great comprehensive review. I think the Electric Bike Company deserves more recognition than it gets. Global sourcing for parts, stainless steel hardware, full customization, assembled in USA,shipped fully assembled, lots of options. If my Raleigh mid-drive dies, I am already thinking EBC. A few years ago rear hubs were very surgy and lurchy but EBC seems to have dialed in the throttle and PAS for a smoother experience. Thanks for your efforts.
Five years comprehensive is impressive. That was really nice that you bought your aunt one. Great review as always.
Thanks Gary! They recently upped it from two years. Much of the bike is the same as it always has been... it's easy to think "yeah, nice, same" but little things like the charger, one inch lower minimum saddle hight, quad piston calipers on the brakes now, wood cover and chain cover options (that they make and stain in-house), color customizations (now including metallic), 7-speed with Shimano Altus option that didn't exist before, paint matched suspension fork?! and the double sized basket battery show me how much effort they put into refining the little things and optimizing the product. It's a happy ebike and a happy company :) hope you've been doing well btw!
@@christophermoltisanti4776 Thats not what she wanted. Besides, its your opinion that it is better. To each his/her own.
@@ElectricBikeReview the webpage said the battery and the motor are limited to 3 months I think. And 1 year. So im confused about that.
I love the alarm system. That alone makes their e-bike worth considering.🚴♂️
EBC deffinitely puts a lot of effort into the options. Pretty cool business model.
Yeah, it's neat that the base bike is pretty affordable but you can customize it however you want (and really go nuts). I admire that they actually touch the bikes, tune them up perfectly, do the custom work like an artist, and provide such a strong warranty and good product delivery experience.
@@ElectricBikeReview im finally almost where i can buy a new bike and its a toss up between these guys (model c) and a biktrix stunner.
I have a model c. The pride in ownership is off the charts!
Thanks for mentioning the weight is 78.5 pounds with all those accessories! Such an important thing for me to consider since some days I like to carry my bike onto caltrain!
Great review. I think that bike looks awesome. Wouldn't change a thing except the location of the kick stand like you mentioned. Perfect for riding around while wearing my aloha shirts. Mahalo!
Hoa aloha! That's awesome, I love the idea of cruising around enjoying life Hawaiian style with some of these bikes :D
Do not worry about rust potential. This channel constantly mentions rust whenever good old steel is used. WD-40 removes any light to moderate rust on anything. I have a 50-year old bike, and WD-40 with a rag to wipe it off made the chrome on it shine like new.
That bike looks very clean.
Totally, it's beautiful! Looks sleeker without the stereo speaker and cup holder, but I kind of like them too :P
That was a LOT more helpful then the chat feature on the website. Specs!!
Thanks for another very informative review.
You are so welcome! I appreciate your encouragement :D
Cool bridge! CANADA! 🇨🇦
Yeah, there are a bunch of bridges in this area because the Frasier river meets the Pacific and there are cities on either side. I remember the first time I drove up here, the bridge that leads to the city (further West than this one) was so beautiful. It was neat seeing the mountains in the distance :)
Nice bike for those that like cruisers, and love the customization, wish more companies would go this route.
Oh yeah, they've really nailed this approach. Only a few bike models, but lots of attention to detail for the line and great custom battery packs, it really makes them unique :)
I completely agree, the personal choice here is refreshing.
@@stevendonovan9762 wouldn't it be great to pick your frame, then all the rest of the parts, pick your colors, then checkout and get a completely custom bike? They come pretty close; hope they continue to add options!
@@Svid1701D Actually yes it would. Although the one I ride I built from the ground up but it cost me a fortune ;(
Nice review. Any plans to review the Model R?
beautiful bike!
raul cee thank you 🙏
Hey man thoughts on *Wheels - E Bike Rentals* i live in staten island and take the ferry to the city just to use citibike for ubereats granted i make more money over there ik that but i wanna do it here (staten island) when i dont feel like takin the boat are they worth it ?
Court: great review. The link to your site in the description is broken.
I like this bike and will probably go with it. I am a little urked that out of all the colors they have; they dont have the cream color that goes so well with the camel seat and grips. Thats the only drawback with me but it is kinda a big deal to me too. I have been researching and comparing for over a year. I decided to wait to buy what I really want instead of settling for a cheaper bike. Still, my mind keeps wondering why they dont have the cream color or even more colors! 400 bucks extra is not chump change and I would think they wont have more colors.
They will do custom colors from a pantone chart. So cream is an option. Don't know the cost for that though.
Great review, my wife is considering this bike, she's 6' tall, do you think this bike would fit her ok?
Beautiful Canada, indeed.
Nice so can I pedal like classic bike without electricity to save batteries and exercise
Is it 40 mile range with pedal assist or throttle?
Is cruise control a useful feature on ebikes or more of a gimmick?
I just got mine and it’s been charging for 8 hours and the light is still red :(
Can you give me an update on your bike? Do you like it, did it charge after 9 hours?
Court, you said you got your Aunt this same EBC bike. So she wanted the single speed version not the 7-speed version of Model Y? And the fenders & chainguard she got was the expensive wood ones(not the plastic ones)? You found this SS Electric Bike Company bike(& SS Electric Bike Company Model R) perfectly fine rolling in most of the terrain you encountered in your test rides, even if given a choice you would prefer the 7-speed version of this model?
