Hi Simon what a brilliant hike definitely did have a Scottish feel around the lake but once high up at the view pint is was alpine all the way 🏔️🏔️👌🏻 Nathalie described it as inspiring (definitely was👍) The bear’s 🐻 definitely add an element of stress to a hike especially when you’re not used to them ! I had exactly the same feelings a few weeks ago while climbing in the Tatry ( a bear sighting close by and had to move with other hikers for safety) gulp 😮 Brilliantly film Simon always 🙏🏼 Best wishes Simon 🤠👍🏔️

@ for us they where about 200 meters away (fortunately being autumn they where well feed 🙏🏼) the problem was they where brown bears 🐻 there which can be grumpy at best unlike the more relaxed black bears Best wishes guys 🤠🙏🏼

Well I could see in the first 20 seconds why it needed to be on everyone's bucket list, the views were amazing. Not that keen on the sound of bears, nice to see one from a distance but sire as hell would not want to bump into one on the trail, especially if they have cubs! Yes, I think I would be inspired if I was having lunch up there too, despite the cold. It looked a great 9 mile hike, cheers Alan

I went to Banff 5 years ago and it's an awesome place. It was unfortunately before YT for me. Never heard of Helen Lake but I did the tourist stuff and I hike mainly alone so would not have done it with bears around. It's not advisable on your own and especially for a newbie. It did have a bit of a Scotland look above the tree line and sure was worth getting up high for those views. I also went to Vancouver on my trip too and loved it. I hope you got up into the mountains around there. Thanks for showing me a new spectacular place 👍

Totally agree, it’s not ideal solo, especially for newer hikers. I'm glad we weren't totally alone on the hike. Vancouver is a beautiful city as well. I want to visit this area, I too am a little afraid of bears.. also I’m wondering if a summer visit would be shared with thousands of other tourists, I like at least some solitude when hiking! We’d like to camp, it seems that booking well in advance is necessary. Very different from Scotland 😉 ATB! Sue
Hey Sue! 😊 Thanks so much! The bear worries definitely add a scary factor to the hike. Summer is stunning here, but you're right, it can get pretty busy with tourists. If solitude is what you’re after, I would think that the off seasons (late spring or early fall) are a great bet... but I'm not sure, I've only been here once 😅 And yes, camping does need booking well in advance - it’s a bit more competitive than Scotland! 😉 Hope you get to experience it soon, it’s so worth it. Well I could see in the first 20 seconds why it needed to be on everyone's bucket list, the views were amazing. Not that keen on the sound of bears, nice to see one from a distance but sire as hell would not want to bump into one on the trail, especially if they have cubs! Yes, I think I would be inspired if I was having lunch up there too, despite the cold. It looked a great 9 mile hike, cheers Alan

I went to Banff 5 years ago and it's an awesome place. It was unfortunately before YT for me. Never heard of Helen Lake but I did the tourist stuff and I hike mainly alone so would not have done it with bears around. It's not advisable on your own and especially for a newbie. It did have a bit of a Scotland look above the tree line and sure was worth getting up high for those views. I also went to Vancouver on my trip too and loved it. I hope you got up into the mountains around there. Thanks for showing me a new spectacular place 👍

Totally agree, it’s not ideal solo, especially for newer hikers. I'm glad we weren't totally alone on the hike. Vancouver is a beautiful city as well. I want to visit this area, I too am a little afraid of bears.. also I’m wondering if a summer visit would be shared with thousands of other tourists, I like at least some solitude when hiking! We’d like to camp, it seems that booking well in advance is necessary. Very different from Scotland 😉 ATB! Sue
Hey Sue! 😊 Thanks so much! The bear worries definitely add a scary factor to the hike. Summer is stunning here, but you're right, it can get pretty busy with tourists. If solitude is what you’re after, I would think that the off seasons (late spring or early fall) are a great bet... but I'm not sure, I've only been here once 😅 And yes, camping does need booking well in advance - it’s a bit more competitive than Scotland! 😉 Hope you get to experience it soon, it’s so worth it.
