My wife and I hiked Elbert back in 2002 at the age of 51 and 50. Living in southern Illinois at about 500 feet elevation and only spending 3 days acclimating, it was brutal on the lungs. We started about 5:30 am with clear, cold skies. It took longer than we'd hoped mostly because I was having such a hard time breathing and I thought I would be fine since I'd never had elevation problems before. It clouded up mid morning and we climbed in snow flakes and snow pellets. Got to the top, took several pics, signed the log book and started down with lightning and thunder not far off. We drove to Ouray that afternoon and celebrated with a nice dinner at Bon Ton. Two months later I had a minor heart attack and had my 1st stent put in my heart. 16 years later, I had the opportunity to climb Angels Landing in Zion. Mission accomplished and I think I enjoyed that even more than Elbert. Then, 10 weeks later, I had a massive heart attack. Luckily 3 more stents took care of that for a total of 8 and I'm afraid my hikes like tho se are a thing of the past. I sure enjoy watching your hikes and travels to the San Juans though and really wish I would've known about the 3 Lakes Trail near Mt. Sneffles. That looks like one of the most beautiful places in the most beautiful part of Colorado. Next time in Ouray area, take a day and rent a jeep and do the trail from Ouray to Telluride thru Imogene Pass. You will LOVE it!!
Wow way to go! That is such a tough hike! We're glad to here you're doing ok even though tough trekking may be in the past. 3 Lakes Trail was a gem of a find! We did rent a Jeep to go through the mountains, but it was a bit too early in the season to do the Imogene Pass, but we did a few other fun ones! Can't wait to do it again sometime! Thanks, Tom!
We were just there in early June. We found a great free camp spot too- right by twin lakes and up against the Colorado trail. My son (21 yrs) and daughter (16 yrs!) hiked Mt Elbert on the path closest to Twin Lakes (south?). They/ we didn't do the research you did and their hike was around 20 miles. They took a beautiful picture at the summit of the rain falling on us down below while they had none thankfully. This video made me smile- thanks! You really do a great job of showing the best places to see. We have much more to see!
We almost did that route since it was right by where we camped! But didn't want to walk the road to the trailhead, which is what makes it SO long. We are so glad they made it to the top!
"This is the one I thought was the summit, BOOOOYYYYY was I wrong" I don't think I have ever felt words through a video like I felt those. Congrats on the accomplishment!
Did this one August 2022, also my first 14er. Elbert is nicknamed “the gentle giant”, but it was still really tough. The first false summit is really demoralizing, even when you are aware that it is not the true summit. Once you get past it, the rest is still challenging, but not as bad. Just got to go low and slow as they say. Congratulations on bagging this one!
I was raised in Leadville and hiked Mt. Elbert many times. You just got to be acclimated to the elevation or it will be tough going. Glad you both enjoyed the trip.
All I kept thinking during this video is “Kathryn is such a badass. The day before she finishes her full time corporate job and the next day she climbed a 14-er.” You go girl!
congrats on making it! My brother-n-law did that a few years ago and I think he had like 60mph winds or something at the top...said it was crazy. I love how to Kona it's just another day in the woods. And that pizza looked delicious. Cheers!
The wind is nuts! Ours thankfully wasn't that bad, but it was bad enough to make us leave very quickly lol! Kona was not phased whatsoever...she did seem tired that afternoon, but not in the moment. Unfair!
Wow, that is spectacular up on top of Elbert. You guys should be proud, as that is quite an accomplishment. The advantages of youth. PS Kona kicked butt.
Congratulations y’all! What an incredible accomplishment. Hiking to the highest peak in Colorado is something you’ll always remember. I got blisters on my feet just watching! You guys rock!!
I just discovered 'The Adventures of A&K' less than two weeks ago and I'm hooked. Easily one of the best travel vlogs out there. I love every aspect, from the high quality video, to the narration, to the music. Your great personalities come across as so authentic and natural. I thoroughly enjoy the videos of places that I've already visited as well as the ones of places I hope to go. I like seeing your successes as well as your fails. Sometimes things just don't work out and that's authentic and true. Keep up the great work. I can't wait for your next post.
Thank you so much for the kindness and support Lawrence! We’re glad to have you join us on our adventures! And the next video we post will be a great example of things not going 100% to plan, but still having fun!
So happy you guys submitted! I climbed Elbert on June 11 & it was my first 14er as well. Afterwards, I told people that it was more of a mental challenge than a physical one with that altitude & the long hike (being properly acclimated of course). Way to go and I enjoy your’ channel!!!
so glad you guys stuck with it. the views from the top were amazing! Its always worth it once you finish. Dogs are incredible creatures. Kona didn't even look tired.
Congrats. Have only done 2 14ers with a work group so just 2 of you to encourage each other was great. We love your videos, just started seeing them a few weeks ago. Glad you are enjoying everything there is to life. Hope the new work arrangement is going well and that more overseas travel is in your future. There are so many cool places, friendly people, and AWESOME food out there to experience.
That was amazing! You guys are amazing! The dog is amazing! LOL. Thanks for sharing the views - so beautiful!; that’s why I enjoy the jeep trails that take me high up there without the hike! You earned those delicious pizzas!
So proud of you guys for not giving up! You are my favorite channel. My husband likes to overland and I like to hike so we have been traveling every chance we get. So far Banff, Utah and the North Shore of Minnesota has been our favorites headed to Ouray, CO in early September. Black Bear Pass, Alpine Loop, and Million Dollar highway. We were at the North Shore just 2 weeks before you. Sorry we missed you. Thanks for all the great tips! We go back and watch your video on that area before we leave to make sure we don't miss anything.
That was a tough hike! Those are some amazing spots you've been to! Y'all are going to love Ouray and the San Juan Mountains. We can't wait to get back there one day! We're glad we could be helpful! Thanks and thanks for watching! Be sure to check out our website as well. We have guides and itineraries to most of the places we've been to and we can be more thorough and detailed in our written content
We love watching your channel. We've been to most of the locations in Colorado (since we live here), but you guys always give us more ideas for our own channel. Thanks.
Seriously impressed by this feat! Watching this makes me believe that I, too, may be able to summit a 14er some day. As always, appreciate the planning you put into your adventures and then sharing that planning with us. Weather can be the enemy of spontaneity in the mountains.
Woot! Woot!! Congratulations! You guys deserve a hearty pat on the back for that one! I don't think I would have slept much the night before. I would have been nervous and excited and there would be no sleep! Pizza's looked yummy! Can't wait for the next installment at the Park. Keep up the good work!
GREAT JOB you two! You can now officially call yourselves mountain climbers! That is a challenging climb, but the views are indescribable... its just 360 degrees of mountains mountains and more mountains!!! The false summits are such a bummer! But it made your success all the more sweet!
@@AdventuresofAplusK We did the southern trail off the CT. It's a bit longer, but reportedly more gentle grade overall than the others. At the end of the day it doesn't' matter because 1) its still a 14er and 2) all paths lead to the top! It is amazing how windy it can be at the top!
Congrats on the summit! In all of the videos I have watched so far, I don’t think I have ever seen you two so defeated. False summits can be demoralizing but combined with the effects of elevation that’s kicking your butt, it’s a double whammy. What a great accomplishment and demonstration of perseverance. Even though it was offscreen, I feel like I can really trust you guys now that I know you curse. I am sure I would have let loose a string of expletives on my way up too. Also , great use of the GIF in the bloopers. One my favorites ever.
This hike was hands down the hardest one we have ever done! Mostly due to that altitude! It’s like someone is sitting on your lungs 😖 And I wish I could say we didn’t curse, but we definitely do 😂
As of 9/9/21, road still blocked. It adds .8 of a mile each way to get to trailhead. Overall the North trail is amazing, pretty serious incline though. It gets pretty steep toward the summit, awesome to see trail maintenance crew up there moving huge rocks to cut in new trail!! Great video guys!
Love to see videos promoting being smart and doing your research before tackling the mountain. Awesome job, I'm planning to make Elbert my 10th 14er and this is one of the best videos yet to prep for it. And you even included the best part, exploring Leadville after your hike. If you guys did a series on all the 14ers I'd watch them all.
Yes we did lots of research before to find the best route for us. Not sure how many 14ers we’ll do. We hear 13ers are way less crowded. Won’t be doing anything in Colorado anytime soon though unfortunately!
"EZ 14"....sounds relative :-) You guys are getting your money's worth in Colorado...such as awesome trip !!! Your little dog is such a trooper. I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback that I regularly take hiking and running (while I mountain bike), but we are in flat-Florida, and that EZ 14 would be a huge challenge I'm sure.
Hahaha pretty sure I had air quotes that no one could see when I said easier lol. It was NOT easy and if that's one of the easier ones, we will probably never do a 14er again lol
Wow, absolutely beautiful. Perfect summit, yay 🙌 👏 😀. I just did Mt. Langley and Whitney 1 week ago. Over 40 miles in two days. So, look out mt. Elbert. Great video, I will use the same trail. Thanks for the video.
The mental pain was all too real when you discovered the 'peak' wasn't actually the peak... I was feeling it at this end too! The difference in your happiness was so chalk and cheese between that point going up (akin to, 'kill me... kill me now!') and coming back down where you guys were more like... 'enough time's passed - we can laugh about this now!' 🤣 But you guys did so well. I struggled so much in the RMNP a few years ago with the altitude and we stuck to easy trails too!! Meanwhile over here, our big 3 well known ones are Ben Nevis in Scotland (and you can see the sea from it) Snowdonia in Wales (which you can supposedly see the sea from... I just stared into thick cloud) and Scafell Pike in England which I'm yet to climb, but because the coast is so close, I expect you can see the sea too! Zero issues with altitude so watching a video like this (and I remember feeling the same watching you both hike Wheeler Peak) is very impressive and inspiring! 🙌❤️🙌
Hahahah the mood changed SO fast! It was hilarious how much happier I was 😂 We really want to do those hikes in the UK so badly! And I still think Wheeler Peak was harder for me, but I think that it was because I wasn’t acclimated. Technically this one was harder, but my lungs were slightly stronger!
Awesome job guys! I did my first 14er on June 21 (Grays Peak) and it was such an amazing and challenging experience, but as you know it was totally worth the struggle!
I came from living at sea level my whole life and went and climbed mt quandry. I'm an athletic person with miles and miles of hiking under my belt and still that 14er kicked my ass. I know it was a struggle but you guys made it up there congrats!
Congratulations on your first 14er. I did my first at 14 years old, Grays and Toerreys with zero acclimation and I remember how awful and how rewarding it was. Hope you get to see at least another because they're all pretty unique
Hello Adventurers😊😊, haha just when you thought you made it to the top...more mountain to climb! WOW...that mountain is HUGE and awesome view in every direction! Those Rocky Mountain Pies looked SOOOO GOOD! So, Rocky Mountain National Park is next? Great choice, Rocky Mountain is one of my favorites parks. I really like the trail that starts from the Alpine Visitors Center and you climb up steps, WAY up there to the very top, and the view is ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR! I have been to this park several times and I know your going to love Rocky Mountain National Park. I can't wait see this Rocky Mountain National Park footage. Great video👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍! Ohhh, are you going to head east to New England?
We love RMNP! We have been before, so it was fun to go back and see new things this time! And we hope to make it to New England soon-ish! A lot to see before we get there!
We want to do that one! And we saw a handful of folks that turned around before the top. We had thankfully been pretty acclimated, but even so, it was brutal.
Congrats and welcome to the 14er club. That pizza looked like an awesome treat after putting in all of that hard work. The air gets pretty thin around 12,000 ft in my experience. You should be proud of yourselves!
@@AdventuresofAplusK hopefully no issues with altitude sickness? I usually don't have time to acclimate so I have to go extra slow and be mindful to drink plenty of water when I go that high up.
I had some slight chest pains when we got to Leadville and the air was pretty smoky at first and I think that + the elevation gave me a bit of a cough I am still dealing with (not COVID, I got tested to be sure 😜), but other than that we felt fine. I felt MUCH worse hiking Wheeler Peak. We went from Austin to that hike within just a few days.
@@AdventuresofAplusK excited to see the video from Rocky Mountain National Park. I'm very familiar with that park so I'm curious as to what you decided to do. I'm attempting to hike the entire park. I'm getting pretty close to finishing the East side of it. Safe travels 🤙
We are going to do this hike at the end of July! I can’t wait. We have been trying to train as best as we can. We live in MO and will only have 2-3 days to acclimate to the elevation. It’s our first 14er. Kathryn, were you happy with the layers you wore/packed? I’m trying to figure out what I’ll need to wear and if I need to buy new hiking boots as mine are 5 years old and well worn and loved. Also, what would you guys suggest for preparing physically for such a hike? Your article on Mt. Elbert is very helpful!
Great work! I climbed last summer and thought each “peak” was the summit! Talk about heart breaking, until you get to the next, then the next one…. Then the summit is worth it! Big congrats!
Great video. The altitude sickness got to me on Pikes Peak & that was after driving up there in a car. I couldn’t imagine hiking to 14,400 feet like you guys did. Keep up the great work.
Wow…that looked painful but you guys should be so proud of yourselves! I know I am! Watched it on the TV again which makes it so much more real…almost like we were also hiking…but without getting out of breath!! 😛 What a beautiful and Cooold looking hike! Kona is such a little hiker…Maui could NEVER hike like that! Your pizza feast at the end looked so delicious and so deserved❣️
Now, it's my time to do this~! I was debating between the other two THs but since I can't get enough sleep, I will do the shortest one like you guys did. Hopefully, it will work out. Time to catch the flight to Denver
Wow Amazing hike! We love watching your hike videos because at our age we will not be doing them. So thanks sharing all the pretty amazing views from the top! Safe travels from Laurie and Rick Moore
I just saw your video and congratulations! And thanks for showing many viewers like me on something I know I would love to do. I wish I had friends like the both of you who love doing a little mountaineering so that I can go with you guys. I love the gorgeous views from on high. I saw a list of all the highest points of every state including Washington D.C.. There's also a club that you can join for completing each and every high point, too. I may not be able to do Denali (20,310 ft) or Mount Ranier in Washington (14,411 ft) because of the super cold temps but I'm sure I can do the rest. Thank you for sharing your video. I really enjoyed watching it. You guys take care.
We'd like to do many of the high points also. I don't know about Denali or Mt. Rainier either or Whitney, but some of the others are doable! Thanks and thanks for watching, Fernando!
Thanks Ryan! Good BBQ has been nonexistent where we are (our BBQ standards are VERY high), but we have a couple spots this summer and fall we can’t wait to check out!
Beautiful!!! I've definitely made the mistake of thinking that the spot I was heading too was closer (or even in view XD) only to get there and me like "Argh!" Congratulations on making the summit! I was loving all the mountain wildflowers too.
Back in the early 1970's when I went to college at Colorado Mountain College myself and a group of other students climbed Mt. Elbert. We hiked one day to the Hallenbeck cabin and spent the evening there. We arose at 1 am and began the climb. It was a cloudy morning and we had to climb through a white out. We were led and the pace was set by a student from Outward Bound. He carried a full pack and wore shorts. When we arrived at the summit the sun was just beginning to rise so the clouds below us turned a beautiful red orange with just the tops of the tallest mountains peaking through. It was -55 degrees. I didn't have gloves and my hands would become numb when I tried to sign the register so it was signed for me by a friend. The pace setter got in his sleeping bag and used his stove to make everyone tea while we waited for the sun to be fully up. I quickly left after that. We used a large snow field to slide down much of the way without having to hike.
I really enjoyed watching this since I went to Leadville last year with a really close friend not know that would be my last trip with him. RIP Mike Randel…….
Another beautiful video! Thanks for sharing it. I lived the experience through you. Congratulations on your achievement! BTW, those pizzas looked really good😋
You guys crusted it, nice job and great video!! Give the puppy a belly rub for hanging In there!! Stay safe and healthy, can’t wait see what it next!!!
Hiked this trail July 6 2022. loved every minute but was also fooled by that first false summit. after that it seemed to ease up on the last push to the top. Thanks for your videos.
With a GPS trail map how do you get fooled by a false peak? 😀 If one finds altitude a challenge the thing to do is do a series of ever higher hikes. Start by hiking as high as you reasonably can. Come down to sleep. Hike 1,000-2,000 ft higher the next day. Come down to sleep. Repeat. If you really struggle and are coming from sea level this can of course take a while. But if you have the time it helps a ton. I took my dad up his first 14ner for his 60th birthday. Grays Peak. He did great! My wife decided she wanted to hike her first 14ner for her 60th birthday so we targeted Grays in memory of my dad and our earlier hike. She always struggled with altitude as we now live at sea level, so this time we took 10 days hiking a little higher each day. Worked like a charm! The parking and trail are much nicer now.
I follow your lead A&K. My first 14er was Mt Elbert 3 days ago, was awesome, as well as a pizza all to myself at High Mountain Pies! I’m from Kansas, so felt the mental battle.
My wife's aunt and uncle own High Mountain Pies and whenever we make the trek out to Leadville we end up eating a LOT of pizza (and ribs, and their sandwiches... everything there is delicious!) Honestly, it's the best pizza we've ever had and it tastes even better after a 14er! They crank out a lot of food from that little kitchen - I think Vicki said she clocked over 10 miles of walking in a single shift. Looking forward to seeing your RMNP videos!
Hi I know this is an old video. But just watched it today. 8.8.23 I was there last October, but literally got snow out, I was 3 days late. So heading in September. Thanks for your video. And I ate at that pizza place. It was awesome ❤
Used to live in Fairplay (foul play) and it seems like everyday you could set your clock (tells you how long ago that was) by the afternoon storms. Yee- Haa!!! Ain't nothing that will get you down off a mountain than lightening striking a tree near you. Still fasting and you got me at the end again. Great Video! Surprised you didn't leave a snow angel up there. But than you got your own. Have a safe trip.
Oh we bet! We love to hike early, so the starting early in CO was made for us. Although we aren't used to being the 10th person on the trail that early. Some folks started at 1:30 AM!
Congratulations on the climb. You can really talk smack to Elbert now 🤣. We’ve got one Colorado 14’er checked off our list (Mt. Yale). You’ve only got 57 more Colorado peaks to go, ha. We love your channel. 👍🇺🇸.
Please stop in Salida, Colorado and do the Browns Canyon Half Day rafting trip with River Runners. If you do I'll pick up the tab. Just let me know. Oh yeah, really love y'all's channel, keep up the great work. The Travel Network seriously need to pick y'all up.

Thanks.
Thank you so much for watching!
Bravo guys! Great job! Stunning views! Thanks for taking us along! ~Cara
Thanks Cara!
Glad you both made it. A great accomplishment!
Thank you Nathan!
Seriously impressed by this feat! Watching this makes me believe that I, too, may be able to summit a 14er some day. As always, appreciate the planning you put into your adventures and then sharing that planning with us. Weather can be the enemy of spontaneity in the mountains.
Thank you for the kind words! You can do it! It’s hard, but acclimating helps a ton!
Woot! Woot!! Congratulations! You guys deserve a hearty pat on the back for that one! I don't think I would have slept much the night before. I would have been nervous and excited and there would be no sleep! Pizza's looked yummy! Can't wait for the next installment at the Park. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Loey! And I was pretty anxious the night before. And then the animal encounter first thing didn’t help lol
Congratulations on reaching the top! It was an amazing hike, and this video is a nice way to start my day.
Thank you so much Eric!
I appreciate the time and effort you guys put into your videos!
Thank you so much!!
GREAT JOB you two! You can now officially call yourselves mountain climbers! That is a challenging climb, but the views are indescribable... its just 360 degrees of mountains mountains and more mountains!!! The false summits are such a bummer! But it made your success all the more sweet!
THANK YOU for telling us about this hike forever ago! So glad we got to do it and actually made it to the top! What route did you do?
@@AdventuresofAplusK We did the southern trail off the CT. It's a bit longer, but reportedly more gentle grade overall than the others. At the end of the day it doesn't' matter because 1) its still a 14er and 2) all paths lead to the top! It is amazing how windy it can be at the top!
We almost did that one since we camped right there! But the long walk to the trailhead scared us off haha.
It’s like someone is sitting on your lungs 😖 And I wish I could say we didn’t curse, but we definitely do 😂
Well done to both of you. Amazing climb, amazing views. Love all the information you give. Keep them coming, they are great to watch.👍🏆😊
Thanks so much Don!
What an amazing and thrilling accomplishment!! Whoo-Whoo!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much!
WOW!!! utter respect!!! That is genuine effort and another great video. Congratulations!!!!!!
Thank you so much! It was tough haha!
Oh wow, a new trail? That has to be a hard job! Congrats on hiking as well!
I absolute love your journey, and adore you guys! Keep doing what your doing, it is so inspiring!
Thanks so much for the support Brian!
Wow! Whitney! That’s amazing!
It’s type 2 fun for sure! So hard, but so rewarding!
I came from living at sea level my whole life and went and climbed mt quandry. I'm an athletic person with miles and miles of hiking under my belt and still that 14er kicked my ass. I know it was a struggle but you guys made it up there congrats!
The elevation is no joke! Even with months at a higher elevation we struggled so badly. Congrats on Mt. quandry! 💪🏼
I'm in Leadville right now, waiting to try it. The peak got dusted with snow yesterday!
It got a tiny bit of snow the day before we went too! Have a good hike!
Congratulations on your first 14er.
I did my first at 14 years old, Grays and Toerreys with zero acclimation and I remember how awful and how rewarding it was. Hope you get to see at least another because they're all pretty unique
That is epic! We saw some kids on the trail and were majorly impressed!
So impressed that you made the summit! Congratulations!
It was a tough one!
Congratulations! Some of those elevations can really do a number on people. Found that out on Humphrey's Peak here in AZ (& it's not even a 14er). 😅
We want to do that one! And we saw a handful of folks that turned around before the top. We had thankfully been pretty acclimated, but even so, it was brutal.
LOVE hiking Humphreys! Best way to acclimate is to camp at Friedlein Prairie the night before!
I've watched most of your videos more than once, all the hiking you do, you calf muscles must be like steel! Keep up ur great videos, God bless!
Awesome work🌟Looking forward to the next summit👍
We have two more high points planned this year! 🤞🏼 Well, three, but one isn’t by foot haha
Congrats and welcome to the 14er club. That pizza looked like an awesome treat after putting in all of that hard work. The air gets pretty thin around 12,000 ft in my experience. You should be proud of yourselves!
We felt pretty strong and pumped the rest of the day! Well, until the tiredness really kicked in lol!
Very nice!!!
This was a great video - good job by A + K! I enjoyed it and also learned a lot. Thank you! 👍
Thanks, Steve!
I just completed the same trail on July 8th. It was the hardest hike I've ever done so far and it took me way more than 7 hrs. lol
Way to go for getting it done!!!
Great work! I climbed last summer and thought each “peak” was the summit! Talk about heart breaking, until you get to the next, then the next one…. Then the summit is worth it! Big congrats!
SO heartbreaking! Way to go on making it to the top!
@@AdventuresofAplusK You guys as well! Great watch!
Great video. The altitude sickness got to me on Pikes Peak & that was after driving up there in a car. I couldn’t imagine hiking to 14,400 feet like you guys did. Keep up the great work.
Altitude is no joke! I’ll never forget how horrible I felt my first time in Colorado, thinking we could do a hike right after landing 😂
I've only been above 14 once. I could barely walk 50 yards without gasping for air. My hats off to your sheer badassery
It was tough!!
Beautiful trail to explore and even your dog loves it too!
She’s our little mountain goat!
Congratulations that was quite an achievement 👏👏👏 I could feel your pain ! Kuma did great , I would love to try that someday 👌
Thank you! It was so tough, but very rewarding!
Lol! We would love to see Maui try 😂 Kona is so dang fit and energetic it’s insane!
We don’t even need to see Maui try! She would last one to two miles but probably less in that elevation!
I did that hike a few years ago. Man those false summits were the worst! And there were so many of them!
They were BRUTAL! So tough mentally!
Now, it's my time to do this~! I was debating between the other two THs but since I can't get enough sleep, I will do the shortest one like you guys did. Hopefully, it will work out. Time to catch the flight to Denver
Good luck! It's a doozy!
Congrats on your first 14’er. Quite the accomplishment! 😃
Thank you so much!
I climbed Elbert on June 13 this year on my first ever visit to Colorado. Also my first 14er. That hike made me quite a man to say the least.
Wow Amazing hike! We love watching your hike videos because at our age we will not be doing them. So thanks sharing all the pretty amazing views from the top! Safe travels from Laurie and Rick Moore
Happy to do the hike for you!
Thank you guys for sharing! Love living vicariously through your videos. :)
Thanks for watching! We’re glad we can share! ❤️💙
Man - Kona is SO down! What incredible views. That looked rough, but you made it! 👏
She is so dang fit lol!
YA'LL ROCK! great work! so envious with this one.
that pizza looks awesome! (yall need to hit up more BBQ and Taco places! lol)
Thanks Ryan! Good BBQ has been nonexistent where we are (our BBQ standards are VERY high), but we have a couple spots this summer and fall we can’t wait to check out!
WOOOOOO!!! Well done! That view is unreal. Would love to see adventures of a+k uncensored sometime! 😂😂🤬🤬
Hahahaha we have heard many children watch our videos (which is crazy to us!) and we don't want to harm their innocent ears!
Wow! U guys are never exhausted! Youth power
Hahaha exhausted 24/7, but used to it now 😅
As long as you are having fun. I admire your energy and adventurous spirit. I am no longer young, have to limit my boundaries.
You two rock! I've done Handies a few times - it's just over 14k but shares a false summit - I feel your pain! Well done.
This hike was so tough! But we felt very accomplished! 💪
You guys are both inspiring me and terrifying me to climb my first 14er next month! Doing Mt. Bierstadt here in CO. I love your videos!!
Yay!!! Good luck! 💪🏼
This is going to be AMAZING!!!!!! I can’t wait!!!! 😁🤩😆😁
Looking back it was amazing, in the moment it was brutal lol!
Beautiful!!! I've definitely made the mistake of thinking that the spot I was heading too was closer (or even in view XD) only to get there and me like "Argh!" Congratulations on making the summit! I was loving all the mountain wildflowers too.
It’s the worst feeling when you think you’re almost there and you’re not haha!
Congratulations! And thanks for taking us along on something I’m way too old to do myself.
That’s a tough hike!
You guys are freaking amazing! And Kona, way to hang in there 🐶! What amazing views - wow!!
Kona crushed it! Made me look so out of shape going up the mountain!
@@AdventuresofAplusK our dogs would have pulled off to the side of the trail at like mile… 2!!
I really enjoyed watching this since I went to Leadville last year with a really close friend not know that would be my last trip with him. RIP Mike Randel…….
We're sorry for your loss. We're glad we could share this video with you
Another beautiful video! Thanks for sharing it. I lived the experience through you. Congratulations on your achievement! BTW, those pizzas looked really good😋
Thank you so much!!
Great job! You guys deserve way more viewers. Great content.
Thank you! And we are very thankful for the amazing viewers we have, quality over quantity 🥰
Congrats on that massive and inspirational hike! I nominate Kona as the most athletic dog on UA-cam!
Lol! She totally is! Those little legs have endless energy!
You guys crusted it, nice job and great video!! Give the puppy a belly rub for hanging In there!! Stay safe and healthy, can’t wait see what it next!!!
Thanks Mark! And I have been telling Kona all day how impressed everyone is with her hiking abilities haha
Great job! Brings back fond memories 😎
Thank you!
Hiked this trail July 6 2022. loved every minute but was also fooled by that first false summit. after that it seemed to ease up on the last push to the top. Thanks for your videos.
We thought it was super tough! That false summit was a mother! Thanks for watching!
What was the temperature up there? Considering doing it tomorrow morning.
@@tozen25 It was sleeting at the top. I think it will be comfortable for you tomorrow.
That looked hard going but worth it for the views. Pizzas went down well...not surprisingly. Great video
Hahaha devoured those bad boys!
Congrats you guys! This is awesome!
Thank you!!
With a GPS trail map how do you get fooled by a false peak? 😀
If one finds altitude a challenge the thing to do is do a series of ever higher hikes.
Your little dog is so cute!! Such a trooper. ❤
I follow your lead A&K. My first 14er was Mt Elbert 3 days ago, was awesome, as well as a pizza all to myself at High Mountain Pies! I’m from Kansas, so felt the mental battle.
Awesome! Whole pizza to yourself is well deserved and the way to go! Nice work!
You guys rock!! Another epic hike!
Thank you Kailey! It was so tough!
High Mountain Pies has THE BEST pizza anywhere!
That is awesome! Tell them we loved their pizzas! And the vibe of the place is awesome!
what an epic trek! kona is a total gamer on these hikes
She crushed it! Not phased at all!
Hi
I know this is an old video.
@@AdventuresofAplusK Well a hardy congrats to ya's.
Congratulations on the climb. You can really talk smack to Elbert now 🤣. We’ve got one Colorado 14’er checked off our list (Mt. Yale). You’ve only got 57 more Colorado peaks to go, ha. We love your channel. 👍🇺🇸.
Lol talking all the smack! And we are putting a pause on 14ers for a while, but maybe we will do another one haha
Please stop in Salida, Colorado and do the Browns Canyon Half Day rafting trip with River Runners. If you do I'll pick up the tab. Just let me know.
Oh yeah, really love y'all's channel, keep up the great work. The Travel Network seriously need to pick y'all up.
Thanks for the kind words! We left Colorado a couple weeks ago, but we have a lot we still want to see and will be back!
