Comon its not "bad" maps, for competition yes, but when you dont have wifi as a kid and want to explore not a symetrical map, have a feel youre on a real planet with your units, those map are cool. My fav was station unrest, as a kid I once played on it, started at 6 oclock, lifted cc and went immediatly to bottom left corner island, on melee vs all computers. I turtled there with limited mineral, turrets and goliaths asap, then when computers depleted all ressources and had nothing left i killed the entire map with 2 tanks and a dropship. Thats how you start liking starcraft at 10 years old, and feel your awesome terran units
Improved AI? I recommend to mine up to, 200 minerals before leaving to the island and drop gol and as many turret on the high ground edge, the only thing to worry about after you stabilize is queen broodlings, then not playing vs more than 1 zerg comp
Yeah FFAs don't have to be totally fair, they are inherently luck dependent anyways. Uneven maps make for fun games to watch. My favorite is Killing Fields.
I always love playing on this map vs 7 AI computers. It's always so fun. If you get the middle base, rush to DT and block the ramp works until they scan you
I know what you are trying to refer to but it doesn't fit here at all. These are the original blizz maps for SC1 which are super random and bad, and in SC2 THE SAME THING WAS THE CASE. The blizz maps at the start of WoTL were exactly that kind of jank.
@@Strauss- Things only need to be balanced for 1v1- they should even let terran build add-ons on the left if they want. That sort of care only really need be done for the deciding game though. Best of 3 and best of 5, then just need to switch sides to average out the jank and then play on a pure even map if it comes to a deciding game. And by the time it's best of 7 random jank should just average out. Free for all is jank by design. Trying to make it even is a bit silly. I think free for all maps should embrace the jank as this one does.
Ngl I actually love the random geyser, it'll have no use early, but once players are possibly stalemating over map control, they could claim them as vespene geysers run dry.
New Gettysburg spaceport with 3players is what I used to like playing when I first got the game. I'd play ffa. New Gettysburg is a 6 player confused jumble of a map, but it was fun.
The chat was quick to point out workers as a ground unit that don’t set off mines but also critters don’t. Additionally your own troops or allied troops don’t set them off either. And some may say I’m just being a know it all, however allied mines is an actual strategy just like stop lurkers is. And you can parasite a critter for vision, so both of those example have actual in game implications.
I remember back in the days when I was playing starcraft, the way to stop carrier pushes as terran was with Ghost (lockdown). I was a descent protoss player and I had a very tough time against my bro when he was defending with Ghost/Goliath. Lockdown is increadibly strong against carriers/arbiters.
3:51 "scvs can kill a cannon. Put two down?" *takes bit of food and chews once, "you're good to go." *resumes chewing. I laughed so hard at this shit hahahahaaaaa
Orbital Death was one of my favorite 8 player maps actually. Totally unfair it was, for everyone. No base really had an advantage. You should try my 8 player 64 x 64 sized map Too Close For Comfort. Absolute unfairness reigns in that fun little map.
My clan uses to hold FFA on this map all the time, killing fields and Jungle Rumble. I won’t almost every time because my clan was garbage. Best way to win, build units for your defense, expand as much as possible and let the other players waste their minerals killing eachother first then you come in and end game after massing carriers/bc/gaurdians
What sorcery is this? Havent played broodwar for the last 15-20 years or so. Yesterday i had a day off from work and installed this Game, went 8v8 FFA vs computers on this exact map LOL
so how is this an awful map, yet big game hunters is an iconic ffa map? i think all ffa maps except a select few are not fair at all, which fits the ffa spirit tbh.
I used to love doing 1v1s on those weird ass maps in sc1. Problem was that I would have to wait forever for someone to join cuz no one wants to play them shits.
This is what I love about blizzard maps. Basically every map nowdays is completely refined with such excellent precision, but these maps are so bad that it makes them the true test of skill for the players
Artosis, BC’s lose to carriers. Carriers can attack while moving and bcs only way to damage carriers is with yamato. Without yamato, 1 carrier can kill infinite bcs. A BC can only cast 1 yamato, so you basically need multiple bcs with yamato per carrier to have a chance to win against them.
You're wrong. Artosis has been involved with competitive Starcraft for almost 2 decades. He knows his shit. Also, all air units in SC and SC2 can be micro'd to attack and move. If you don't know how to do it, then that means you are definitely unqualified to offer any criticisms.
gulping down spinach with bits falling out of his mouth, in front of a monitor watching his favourite game; He is truly one of us
Y'all are pitiful
That single BC joining the Protoss was basically Jim Raynor's story. The Hyperion and Raynor's Raiders!
so Raynor got mind controlled, that's why he is friend of the protoss :)
Terrans too busy fighting each other to realize that they're about to be screwed by annoying Zerg and uppity Protoss.
Nice Campaign reenactment.
this. this is the content.
"only lost because of map imbalance" -KECH
Orbital Death has no business being on the "worst blizzard map" nominees. This map is one of my all time favorite and I wont hear this slander.
Wait...the zerg player was the last to gg...VICTORY FOR THE SWARM!

Trying it right now. Although improved AI will probably force me to use cheats! lol
Improved AI? I recommend to mine up to, 200 minerals before leaving to the island and drop gol and as many turret on the high ground edge, the only thing to worry about after you stabilize is queen broodlings, then not playing vs more than 1 zerg comp
Best map on nintendo 64 xD

I 100%
This might be a "bad map" but man does it provide an entertaining game. Best FFA ive seen so far.
my favorite part of this was when the zerglings hit teal terran's base while Artosis takes a bite out of his salad
Lmao
Excellent
Awww let’s do 256 x 256!!!
The fact saltosis didn't get a middle spawn tilts me
I can actually see the 4v4 potential in this map if we all had the 2004 mindset.
I always love playing on this map vs 7 AI computers. It's always so fun. If you get the middle base, rush to DT and block the ramp works until they scan you
SC2 "fixes" this by being utterly sterile in design.
I actually much prefer blizz maps to play on because of the random imbalances lol

well if there are mineral only expansions, why not gas only expansions... makes sense to me... kinda

Saltosis refusing to use any spells from his death ball was weirdly triggering.
lol at the guy in chat who called the pink zerg "fuckin scorpion wizard"

Although now that I think about it... Would a parasited critter trigger a mine? 🤔
@@canag0d if critters don’t trigger mines then parasited should not as well
@@ShitajiMado Well a parasited critter shows up as the enemy on the minimap so I’m not so sure...
allied mines in banned in comp...
@@SquareyCircley Maybe so but it’s still a thing lol.
LETS GO THIS IS THE BEST SERIES
The Zerg stirring shit up was the best part of the game.
this brings back memories...
wow i spent a lot of time on those blizzard maps with computer solo games, its so much fun memories, the unbalance is really cool
24:30 darkblue AND purple Protoss distance mining from the same base! lol !
So bad it’s good
I mean, you SAY this map is bad but that was a genuinely exciting FFA.
Sadistic ringmaster Artosis strikes again! We must continue quest for the worst official SC/BW map! (although it's hard to top Diablo)
Easy:
_CRYSTALLIS._
I feel like this map was worse than diablo, just because of how awful the spawns were
The Zerg player intercepting the mining probes with only 4 lings made my day.
The sound of the game starting (0:21) instantly sends me back 21 years to the first time I tried this game.
This was the best
3:51 "scvs can kill a cannon. Put two down?" *takes bit of food and chews once, "you're good to go." *resumes chewing.
I laughed so hard at this shit hahahahaaaaa
Looks like a good map to add as the “weird map” next ASL
honestly tho, this map but without the possiblity of spawning in the middle, seems like it would be interesting
Amazing Match.
I was no good when he said "so hard to keep up with all this action...look at this micro, who is that pro-gamer" 😂😂
that was stupidly entertaining
CRAZY
CRITTERS!
I don't know what's more awful, the map, or Artosis talking with his mouth full, so much entertainment
Orbital Death was one of my favorite 8 player maps actually. Totally unfair it was, for everyone. No base really had an advantage. You should try my 8 player 64 x 64 sized map Too Close For Comfort. Absolute unfairness reigns in that fun little map.
Crazy how obvious it was that pink was stream sniping lol
Atrhos Plumm the MVP!!!
This supposedly bad map somehow made one of the most balanced and interesting FFA's though. Not every map has to be a 1v1 map.
Never under estimate the power of go-go's! LOL, 18:00
Artosis spent half the game looking at absolutely nothing interesting while battles raged all over.
arty would love to have more of those random shit maps videos :)
please do more of these bad map ffas please
archons also dont trigger mines, probes drones scv etc
7:48 Protoss in a nullshet
"Nullshet"
Idk why this isn't streamed with a delay, it's so obvious who is stream sniping for massive advantages.
Saltosis again?
Carriers are so lame in ffa
What sorcery is this? Havent played broodwar for the last 15-20 years or so. Yesterday i had a day off from work and installed this Game, went 8v8 FFA vs computers on this exact map LOL
God I forgot about the music behind the original starcraft!
Classic StarCraft! How it was ment to be played, unbalanced maps keep it hella interesting.
I thought workers don't trigger mines?
Protoss always wins ffa
Blue protoss only won becasue everyone else kept fighting each other.
Funny enough the mid spawns are the best on Orbital Death ffa, esp. if you get terran
You have a child's haircut.
Tf does an adult haircut look like
CRAZY CRITTERS! BEST WORST MAP EVER
so how is this an awful map, yet big game hunters is an iconic ffa map?
i think all ffa maps except a select few are not fair at all, which fits the ffa spirit tbh.
wtf protos left why?
I used to love doing 1v1s on those weird ass maps in sc1. Problem was that I would have to wait forever for someone to join cuz no one wants to play them shits.
I remember this map... played it like twice. Once just to sample it, then once with a friend... done. Too insanely designed. Brutally flawed.
Animal Game will never be a free for all player.
might dislike 258 maps but there is a reason you should try them out ...
some of them are terribly long.
This is what I love about blizzard maps. Basically every map nowdays is completely refined with such excellent precision, but these maps are so bad that it makes them the true test of skill for the players
Still think primeval isles is the worst map
this could be the worst observation I've seen in ages...
Only in 2020 does a game like this gets played and posted* #MyLife4Aiur

zoom out more at start.
Good grief dude figure out how to cast/ observe.
