It's really annoying how most people always get those two mixed up. The kids are always expected to be locked up indefinitely because the public has become accustomed to a really shitty and backwards justice system, with their revolving door policy reserved only for truly violent and repetitive perpetrators.

oh... l suspect there is a far more 'appropriately exacting judgement' that such people will find waiting for them. Harming children is a very particular 'sin' addressed very specifically by Christ.... The very demons that prompted their evil acts upon innocents, are standing, watching, and waiting for them to pass from this fleshy life.... and l suspect what they did in the prompting by those demons, will have the same be done to them by those same demons, and far, far worse...
There is a 'just balance' in the weighing of both 'rewards of righteousness' and 'judgments of acts of evil'...

Agreed,it's always amazing to me how someone like him who lives literally next to the path these girls had taken wasn't investigated sooner. I remember a docu about a serial killer whose probable first victim was a young girl he kidnapped in broad daylight, pulled her into his car and took her to his house beat her up and left her for dead in his kitchen. She wouldn't have surived were it not for a neighborhood kid who saw her being pulled into the car and alerted a cop giving a clear description of the car. Within minutes the cop saw the vehicle parked in front of a house ran into the house and saved her life(he ran out the backdoor). The kidnapper however was released for "lack of proof" that he was the actual kidnapper. He would go on to make many more victims. The kidnapper was Rodney Alcala, a convicted serial killer believed to be responsible for over 130 murders. If he was put into jail for his first crime 130 lives would have been spared.

Me and my best friend were the same age as Holly and Jessica when they vanished. We even looked the 'same' as them (she's blonde and I'm brunette) and like them, we were always together. I can remember this case so well as we also grew up in a rural area where kids were very safe and both of our mums were so concerned by what happened. It really changed a lot for kids growing up in 'safe, rural countryside areas' in the UK (in our case Nottinghamshire) as Huntley really shattered the belief that young girls are more protected in such places.
We are still best friends and we're now in our 30s. It pains me to see that now infamous final photo of them together and wondering if they'd still be as close as me and my best friend are, had they not had their lives wiped out like they did. Nothing will ever be able to explain who or what Ian Huntley is, and it is so crazy that over 20 years have now passed.

I was 13 when this happened, remember it so vividly. Was on a family holiday in Wales at the time and everyday me and my 11 year sister would come downstairs from our holiday home bedrooms and ask our Mum ‘have they found the girls yet?’ We were so shook up that even though the holiday home had 4 rooms, by the second week of our holiday, I’d moved out of my bedroom in the house and opted to sleep in my sisters room in the empty twin bed, we were saddened and scared. It was a boiling summer but we kept the windows closed at night. I remember it was the first time I picked up a newspaper to follow the story as closely as possible. I’d force myself to read the paper daily despite being just a child myself, I felt owed it to those two young beautiful girls. I still think about them now. That's what's ripping the US apart.. folks hell bent on finding injustice & hypocrisy everywhere & in everything where it doesn't exist, yet ignore the glaring hypocrisy they themselves support. It is usually because they want to be there to misdirect other searchers so that what is being searched for may not be found, or because they want to destroy evidence before it is collected. None of these public psychology operations ever made any sense. Huntley who’d never killed, didn’t look like a killer, he didn’t have it in him ffs... but he just decided to kidnap two girls and brutally murder them despite not really even knowing them and having no malice to each other?!. He did not have violence in him, he had a girlfriend so wasn’t sexually frustrated or raged. It made no sense at the time but now it’s obvious.. it’s just a poorly ran psychological operation to fill the public apathy. It was awfully done as well,, it’s only now you can clearly see through it.

I mean, the fact that she was talking about the girls in the past tense after what, 5 days since they went missing, is not really something that would ring any bells for me....it's pretty safe to assume that the girls will never be seen again if they haven't been found by that time, either because they were already dead or kidnapped and held somewhere well hidden.
But this was chilling to watch...

This is the one story I will always remember for various reasons and is also the story that made me aware of the cruelness in this world. I was 10 at the time so it kinda shocked me that people my age are being targeted by these monsters - up until that point I had only heard of one or two murder stories which involved all adults hundreds of miles away...I remember being genuinely upset and always asked my mum "Have they found the girls yet?" for weeks until I seen his picture next to theirs and I remember being filled with absolute rage. Just pause the video at 33:12 and look at the still of his face. With the different lighting you see that there are no scratches. What you saw as scratches are just a bunch of moles/spots. And yeah, he has dark rimmed eyes as you can see on nearly every other picture of him.
In short: Stop talking bullshit, if you have no clear evidence. Binging true crime videos doesn't make you an expert.

It was the middle of a quiet Sunday afternoon in a sleepy little town,in broad daylight ,the girls were just shy of their 11th birthdays , they weren't toddlers . This was just one of those unpreventable things, other than the fact that there was no proper vetting of employees in those days .
