Awesome! So I use Pro chemical and dye along with idye poly. Both are great and have nice colors. You can get the pro chemical and dye right from their website. They have a section just for us disc golf dyers. A ton of colors. If you order from them, let them know I sent you. I don't get anything from it, just nice to know where their sales are coming from. Any other questions, just ask. Cheers
You sure can. It's the same stuff as pro chemical and dye. Just mix with acetone for glue beds, denatured alcohol for spins, a bit or warm water I'm lotion or floetrol beds.
Would you mind sharing what kind of dye you use and what you mix it with. I've tried multiple techniques, and they just turn out looking like blurry clouds 😂
I use Prochemical and idye poly. I mix it 1/4 tsp. dye to 1 ounce of acetone. I mainly use clear glue. If you're using white glue, that could be why it's coming out somewhat cloudy.
Definitely switch to prochem or idye poly, the low color infusion would start there. Maybe leave your disc in the dye bed a bit longer for deeper color. Lastly, white glue gives different effects in regard to how the dye moves over the surface, but won’t give any milky color issues that clear glue wouldn’t also do. Color adsorption can be increased by adding acetone like the OP mentioned he uses.
So awesome, do it! It's pretty fun. Okay, so I use discount school supply glue and Elmer's glue. I only use clear glue. The dyes are pro chemical and dye along with idye poly and worm dip. The pro chemical and dye along with idye poly get mixed with acetone at 1/4 tsp of dye to 1 oz of acetone and shake it up.
Hey man! I have 2 quick questions: Did you use 100% acetone for the mixing? Also, what does the warm seeding bed do? Is this mandatory for the dye to set properly or something? Cheers
No worries, ask away. Yeah, The dye mixes are mixed with 100% acetone. I mix it one quarter teaspoon per 1 oz of acetone and then shake the crap out of it. Let the residual powder dye settle to the bottom and then pull the dye from the top of the bottle. As far as the seeding mat, It is definitely not mandatory by any means. I just feel it helps with some saturation. It actually might not do much of anything but heating up the dye and the disc should help with brighter vibrant colors. But you definitely don't have to use it.
@@SargsHappyLittleDiscs hey man thank you, I’m new to dyeing and my first two attempts completely failed lol so I was wondering how deep about do you layer the glue. Half a finger nail or deeper?
No worries. Ask anything you want, hopefully I have the answer for you. Lol. What happened to your first 2 dyes? I go about 3/16" to 1/4" deep on the bed. You really don't need much. Just go a bit deeper, a gooood 1/4", for putters. You want to touch more depth for discs that are a little bit deeper.
Beauty! Many lulz for your buddy outdriving Paige. I may have laughed for several days too!
Hahahaha. Ridiculous!
LOVE the colours on that!
Thanks. It sure did come out awesome!
Ah man, The concept of capturing the "texture" and lines of the dye but not too much color over a stamp could be really cool with this style.
Good call. I can dig it!
Great work on that disc sir!
Thank you. I really like this one.
Will this work with idye poly and acetone?
It sure will. That what I used (along with Pro chemical and dye).
What was the sit time on this one? And do you use heat when you let them sit?
This sat for 24 hours with heat on a seeding mat.
So what kind of dye are you using?? Would love to go with the brand/type you use

@@SargsHappyLittleDiscs awesome! Thank you for the quick response, you the man👌
Lol. Right on. Cheers
I was looking at the aria discs powder dye. Can you use this method with the powder dyes or do they need to be mixed with something first?
You sure can. It's the same stuff as pro chemical and dye. Just mix with acetone for glue beds, denatured alcohol for spins, a bit or warm water I'm lotion or floetrol beds.

@@SargsHappyLittleDiscs awesome thank you for sharing. I'll have to try the clear glue. I use mica powder for epoxy color, is that similar?
I don't think that powder will work, I don't know much about it though.

Which specific Prochem colors did you use for this? Absolutely beautiful
Thanks! I used Bright blue, pale blue, a bit of flag blue, bright red, rad red, flame scarlet and some blue and red worm dip.
@@SargsHappyLittleDiscs Thanks!
For sure. Cheers
What dye do you use?
I use pro chemical and dye (they have a section on their site for disc golf) and idye poly. Both work fantastic!
What kind of glue bed and dyes are you using? Looking to pick up another hobby lol. Sick dyes!

@@SargsHappyLittleDiscs thanks to your video I’m going to dye a white octane disc
No worries. Ask away. I'm here to help and shed all the info I have.
That is awesome by the way, enjoy the dyeing process. It's fun!
Awesome dye! Just curious what clear glue brand do you use? I tried amazons basic clear school glue but no luck.
Thanks. I've used Micheals, Elmer's clear glue and some colorations.
@@SargsHappyLittleDiscs best probably being elmers eh?
Not necessarily. I like the colorations a lot as well.

Ahhh, like a go pro mounted on my head? That could be cool.
