Thanks so much bro, I really appreciate that. Love hearing that you're picking up some pointers along the way too. Here's to speeding up the 3rd shift clock!
Welcome to crew bud, you're going to fit right in! Don't be afraid to reach out if you have questions along the way, always happy to help out where we can.
Well Bobby, I am off to try one of these clear bed swirls. I have finally collected some dyes, some discs, and some time. All I do not have in my possession is a torch. I imagine the difference will be doing it. Not worried about that now. I am curious as to Jory’s use of plastic pipettes. I thought the acetone would burn through them. I have a handful of these from other art projects, and only a pair of glass droppers. I guess I will try them until they fall apart. Wait, another question-Jory mentioned air pockets with Bergs. I realized they have a lip. Any tips on getting these into the glue beds? Finally, reusing glue? That is an awesome bit of information.
Hell yeah Peter, excited to see what you whip up bud! The pipettes don't hold up forever to the acetone, but they're disposable and can handle a single dye bed usually with no problem. The air pocket on the Berg can be tricky and has taken down many dyers. The key is rolling it in their real slow in the circular motion like Jory shows, making sure that the bed is coming in full contact with the entire surface. I get down low and trying to watch under the disc while I'm doing it. It takes some practice, I would try on a bed of just glue (no dye) a couple times first to get your mojo down. Hope all that helps bud, have fun!
Hey man just found your channel and I love it! I picked up a misprint box and have a couple of really nice ESP discs that I would like to get dyed. Can you or people in the comments help me find a place or two that I can send a disc to that will dye it for me? I have tried on my own and I don't got it lol thanks everyone!
We've got you for a custom dye on your plastic anytime you need it done bud. There's a spot for that on the Custom Disc Dye Form on our website. Pretty much any of the disc dyers featured in our OBDD series (like Jory) are happy to have you send them discs to dye as well.
Ok question. Hopefully I didn't mess up but, I had accidentally ordered normal white glue instead of clear glue. Is this an issue or can I still use it the same way as the clear glue for beds? Hopefully I get a response from someone since this is an older video. Thanks in advance.
I've made the same mistake... White glue will work as a medium to make beds out of, it just reacts differently with the dye than clear glue. It's all chemistry at the end of the day. If you're dripping it in, it spreads differently and stays on the surface more but transfers fine in the end. I've also used my lotion mix on top of white glue beds with some success. Hope that helps bud!
Nothing is really set in stone there Jack. I usually start my mixes out at 1/4 tsp of powdered dye to 2-3 of acetone or denatured alcohol. It tends to morph from there though as needed.
Bro, your channel is so relaxing to watch. I work third shift and it really passes the time and I learn a lot in the process! Stay dying my friend 💯💯

What's the ratio of powder dye to acetone or denatured alcohol?
