Asmon and I are around the same age, and the whole realization of the world changing around you is him processing aging for the first time. I feel the same way, but for lots of people begin to see and experience change in a different way when they hit 29/30. Time takes on a different meaning and it’s a deeply challenging thing to cope with. It’s rough seeing everything change, and losing friends, losing your past for the first time. Especially for us who grew up with the internet for the first time in human history. We have videos of the past, we have pictures, we have all this high quality documentation of the past and that can make it so much harder to deal with because we can use those things to live in the past. Grow up is feeling the finite reality of time for the first time, and that feeling sucks. Good luck man

I've been watching for close to four years now and have found comfort in the streams and youtube videos, probably like many others. Whether it is content I "want" or not, I watch. I watch because I enjoy Zack, I enjoy the atmosphere his streams carry (full screen sometimes), I enjoy the content because I enjoy the man behind it. From the World of Warcraft era, to the souls era, to the random challenge rage game eras, to ffxiv, etc. People who enjoy you will enjoy you doing something that makes you the happiest, even if that one day means the end of streaming. Zack does his best to stay true to himself and do whatever makes HIS life most comfortable for him and that alone will always be admirable.
no face chatter but like many others have said, we will support whatever transition happens.

I like you as a person & dig your quick wit & I look forward to seeing whatever you do. We seem to have similar appreciation for the world, I hate complaining about what I can’t change. I had a very similar experience changing my view on the death penalty. My friend was wearing an interesting shirt, anti electric chair. She said basically what you researched about costs, & it doesn’t fix anything it just is more killing. I also adore the Gandhi quote “an eye for an eye will leave the whole world blind.” I changed my mind right that minute.

So I still have a lot ahead of this video, but listening to what you said so far and where it's going, here is my take:
You as creator see the best what does well and what does poorly. Period. I get so many recommendations and comments like "Just do what you feel like", and while this does matter, it barely matters for the actual content. Now for me it's a bit different since I simply can't afford to fall off, which I do believe makes a difference, but the core is the same.
You spend a lot of time on your subreddit, and while I think it can be great, in response to the actual content it's super toxic. Before anyone jumps on this who is a frequent on the subreddit and may dislike me saying this: Take your time and go over actual criticism. People will write novels on how bad something is that Zack does while it just doubled or tripled his viewership. And while you may have people that only complain once, if everyone in a rotating schedule does that, you have a continous cycle of negative feedback. All the time. I rarely see someone complimenting or appreciating something, or rather it does happen but gets downvoted or barely any attention.
Your only feedback should be your performance. Now whether you act based on that or simply say it's a direction is up to you.
Now you did say "What do I do this for if it's no joy", and this is what I meant with the difference between someone on the edge and someone who can afford it. You can afford doing what you enjoy. You earned enough that you can live until the end of your life with your lifestyle. I think you'd be best off to do what you feel best with. That may not always mean what you personally enjoy the most, but where the result is the most satisfying.
Don't read too much into 200 upvote posts on Reddit whereas you have 50-100k people watching you. Same for the few comments that appear. You have a size where even 1% that hate you will make up 500-1000 people, and these people will make sure to be heard. I think holding that infront of your eyes is important.

for me you are sometimes comparable and yes that might be a hot take but Shakespeare cause he saw humans. He saw beyond what the "normal peron's eye" could comprehend which influenced his art and i kinda get the vibe with you too
you see alot that most people dont and you learned alot from that which made you at some point quite arrogant
but how can someone be arrogant if that what he says is common logic but these are things to be judged by others not ourselves.

Not everyone will stick with you as these changes occur, but I think enough of us will to make it worth your while to keep up the content. If not, then maybe that will be the time you decide to start the next chapter of your life. You've conquered this boss. Theres a 7 story bank corporate headquarters that popped up seemingly overnight, and the town council gleefully pushes it along. It's a small city here now, but with even shittier infrastructure and less jobs.

The older I’ve gotten the harder i find it to get invested in games. I have so many sitting unfinished, I move on to one > take it too slowly to really enjoy the experience > burn out. I’ve not completed Elden ring. I’ve attempted Red Dead 2 3, 3 TIMES!! i sunk 280 hours into cyberpunk without touching the main plot. I started a Stellaris campaign, I started a crusader kings campaign, I started Pillars of Eternity. NOTHING is holding my interest any more than 1/4 through the game. I even resorted to no living OSRS for 3 months and got halfway to 99 farming. Nothing sticks or holds my interest.

Same goes with your product. When you change your product you can't expect all the og fans to be happy about it. It's your show, but come on man be realistic. Personally not a fan of react content. I speak candidly when I say Asmon helped me go through a rough time and i support him. I loved and followed every video and I really enjoyed watching the DnD videos and also classic WOW videos here on youtube. But I have a problem which Asmon didnt really address and that is the react content. from what I saw spicificly statisticts that show react content bearly helps or even hurts the original creator and I know Asmon wont stop reacting cause its good for him and his stream but still its not great and I would have liked him to talk about his perspective on it a little bit more especially regarding Darkvipers statisticts that proves that exposure doesnt do anything to the original creator. Food for thought. Also Asmon if your reading this by any chance youre the best dude and I support you and thank you for being yourself and making a rough time for me easier.

The problem with social media interaction is a question about your "personal armor". Even if your personal armor is very strong. Reading negative comments (as a small rock being thrown at that armor) are going to ,at some time, wear your armor down. Thats how i feel and thats why i quit reading them/quitting social media. I feel the same with my neighbourhood, alot has changed.

It’s kind of a funny parallel, but your main Twitch channel and secondary one reminds me of MTV and MTV2 from back in the day. MTV gradually stopped playing music videos and instead played them on MTV2. You’re playing less video games on your main and instead play them on your second channel. Might be too old of a reference for some ppl 😅
I prefer your non-gaming content more than your video gaming ones so this change works for me. I like how you’re able to think quick on your feet and articulate your thoughts. You know what’s best for your channel, just keep showing us too.

I'm only a couple minutes in, but from what I know about asmongold, my personal opinion would be that he would benefit a lot from a really nice apartment or condo. I know he could afford it. Somewhere there's food on site, or close by, cleaners can come through, a gym on site, just a bunch of quality of life things and a place he could live where he doesn't have as many day to day responsibilities. He said it's not because of his mom, but I know when my mom passed I wanted a whole new scene. The memories were too hard, and I was better off starting a new chapter of my life elsewhere. I don't know much about him personally because what we know is what he chooses to show, but I wouldn't be surprised if he also benefited from living with someone else, even if its a family member or a friend, or other streamer. I know it sounds obvious, but living alone gets lonely, and it can really have a negative affect on your mental health.
