Hell, I usually have cheap but good tasting wine that is a little more expensive than what they use in the video regularly on hand for the occasional glass, myself. These days now that I'm trying to steer away from the kind of consumption I had before when I was working a high stress job and hated every single waking moment of my life for it, I find myself typically stocking the house with a couple of bottles of wine, or mead, a case or so of Guinness , and then one nice bottle of Scotch or Rum per quarter of the year.

Of course cooking a nice steak in the correct way is amazing, but also takes more time, more cleaning and more money, just like Asmongold said, and when you think about it, in the end, the fact that you get a decent steak for so cheap and fast that isn't as far away from the ''great steaks'', is pretty amazing.

If you want to be a pretend-good cook, get a container and heater so you can sous vide food. Take a steak, season it, bag it up, stick it in a container of warm temp controlled water to cook all day. Take it out after like 6hrs or whatever, sear it in a pan for 30 seconds to 1 minute per side, done. Total time you physically spent cooking is probably 10-15 minutes(including getting everything together) if you aren't just completely dragging ass around the kitchen lol, and you'll have a steakhouse-level steak.

I like how they never disrespected your cooking style. Everyone has their own take and preference when it comes to the kitchen. They took your version and did their own take on it. Really cool IMO.
As for dirty pans, there is some ways you can make things easier and add more flavour. If a pan is too hot and you have brown (not black) stuff to it, take the contents out then add water. You will get gravy! The natural sugars and salt in the meat give you that fond in the pan. This is why they were adding liquid back in and also makes it a ton easier to clean.
Also, you need a dishwasher. Would make your life 10 thousand times easier. I also need one too. This flat I am renting is sh3t!
