    My favorite three product combos are Kinky Curly knot today, Rhyme and Reason peach leave in, and UFD curly magic, or Bask and Bloom more moisture cream, Bask and Bloom mango castor twisting cream, and UFD curly magic. I don’t mind oil being formulated in products either, I just don’t add straight oil to my hair or scalp.

    Glad to hear about your favorite combos. I hear that wash and go's should not be used with a leave-in; however, you have to do what works best for your hair. It really boils down to what combination works best, with or without a leave in. It also depends on what results you are looking to achieve.

    • @ob2be1
      @ob2be1 Рік тому

      What’s the reason for not using a leave-in?

    • @positive647
      @positive647 Рік тому

      When styling for a wash and go, after rinsing out your deep conditioner, a lot of stylists go right into the base gel (i.e. Uncle Funky Daughter) to define or enhance your curl pattern. If you use a leave in, it may not mix well with the gel because of the oils in the leave ins. In essence, it may inhibit the base gel's performance. Some people do not have a problem when using leave ins.

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  Рік тому +1

      Yes, I’ve heard the same. But after trial and error, I found that, as you said, it really depends on what look I’m trying to achieve. The look, that I love has movement, bounce and not much stiffness. I like to use leave-in to counteract some of that hold from a gel.
      I’ve also found that surface texture plays a role in whether you can achieve this with or without a leave-in and I cannot.

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  Рік тому

      Water-based leave-ins with very little oil are what I’ll be diving more into in the future. The kinky curly knot today, for example, is one of my favorites it’s oil free.

    • @positive647
      @positive647 Рік тому

      I agree Brittany. The Water-based leave ins are the best. Not a lot I am able to find. Sometimes you can get by with Hair milks, depending on the formula.

    I’ve been sticking to the ufd and Jelloshot on top and that’s given me beautiful curls each time… I like the hold of stronger gels because my surface texture is soft so I need something ngl to hold during the week. Weeks I protective style I still base gel with ufd(leave in) the top with shea moisture curl enhancing styling cream ( the ingredients seemed updated and are actually really good)

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  Рік тому +1

      I still need to try Jelloshot. I’m interested about trying a cream on top of a gel since I haven’t had luck with that so far. it’s some thing I’ll try to do in the future and test out. Good to know that they updated their ingredients as well! Thanks for sharing.

    I appreciate the serie so much ! I've been using curly magic and I create hold all year.. It never failed.. I agree kinky curly (the leave in and custard) system is bomb. (I've been using it too). Since I can't not find curly magic on the ground I had to purchase another botanical gel (Camille rose curl marker). It's giving but I do prefer curly magic (wich I neve expected). I will probably purchase some Ouidad product because I was impressed by your result. I will probably purchase Ecoslay geloshot gel since it's a botanical one.

    I like to switch it up too with combos but My top 3 this year are curly magic +I create hold + bamboo ginseng, then curly magic+ bee girl and then Nefertiti secret gel + I create hold. @@meeikothompson I wear wash and go’s year round. Ever since I big chopped in 2020 that’s all I’ve done. Anytime I do a protective style I immediately want to take it out, and it’s honestly more inconvenient than wash and go’s for me.

      @@BrittanyMia Yeah I noticed that. I also noticed the growth of your hair too! And the first thing came to mind was it’s not just about protective styles but routine!

      @@meeikothompson exactly! I spent most of my life trying to grow out my hair utilizing protective styles, and then I realized that all I want to do is wear my hair in it’s naturally curly state all the time. So if I was wearing nothing but protective styles, I wouldn’t (and didn’t) know how to do my hair the way I actually wanted to wear it. It took for me getting so bored with my protective styling that I turned to a Dominican blowout and essentially changed my curls health to realize this lol.
      I was pretty long-winded, lol but routine is everything, and even within consistency you can get some unexpected setbacks. But, it’s all part of the journey!

    So I recently shaved a majority of my hair off, so the only style I can really do now is wash-n-go's. When my hair was longer, I could never seem to find a gel that was the best at taming my frizz. Now that I'm starting over, I want to stay consistent and see how the melanin multi-use leave-in and the ouidad stronger hold gel works for my hair
    P.s. Would any future video ideas include a montage of how your hair has changed/looked from the start of the year to the end?

      You got this! Not that you asked, but if I were starting over I would start doing wash and go sets every few days like every 3 to 4 days or more to keep the moisture in my hair, and once you get consistent in a routine with that, your hair will be so used to the moisture that it’s almost like you’ve trained your curls because they’re so hydrated.
      You know, that’s a great idea. I’m not too sure if I’ll get that done this year but I’ll add that to my future plans.

    What leave in Conditioner did you use with these combinations?

    Thank you for your summary. I'm always on the lookout for a good combo. One question, do you deal with a lot of humidity? I find that some combos dont work year round or when its either too dry or humid.

      I do deal with quite a bit of humidity, but I’m not outside as much these days. Even when I was, the uncle funky’s daughter curly magic and some type of topper gel managed to do the trick! But a cream would make my hair feel heavy.

    Would you ever be open to do a twist one week? Or you just strictly do washngos?

      I’m a creature of habit and wash and go’s are my signature go-to right now. I may do a twist out in the future, but not anytime soon.

    None of the trepadora stylers?

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  Рік тому +1

      Nope. I didn’t include them because they gave me really strong hold and I think I need to play around with them a little more in order to use them in a way that doesn’t give me a strong cast the first few days. I liked them a lot, just a little more of a learning curve still.
