The hesitation seemed to caused by reacting to the truck to the left having a short false start to move forward when the green for the left turn came on.
Yeah, I agree. I think that’s what it was.
I do not think so, this kind of hesitation happens often to me. It should be fixed.
Just got the same update last night. I had issues with the tesla following too close and coming to abrupt stop. I didn't fear that I would hit the car in front of me by worried about any car behind me hitting me in the rear end. This version didn't follow as close and slowed down more gradual which was a marked improvement which in my opinion made for safer driving.
Installing … thanks for the preview!
FSD 12 is amazing. I also agree that auto speed max is too fast for some lower speed areas. But it's very exciting seeing all this play out.
Looking good - and we just got FSD v12.3.6 as I was watching your video - it's installing right now and I can't wait to see if it fixes a couple of relatively minor issues that I've been seeing with the last couple of v12 releases ... thanks!
Greetings from Minnesota! So, Jim, tell me what happens when you do the following:
1. Enter a destination into the Navigation system
2. Drive there using FSD
3. When you "Arrive at your destination" and the car stops moving, hit "End Trip" but *do not* put the car in Park or Disengage FSD
4. Wait a couple seconds....
What happens?
If the car starts driving with no destination, see how far it goes and where it goes. Also, try to "influence" its route by turning on a turn signal once in a while.
Chances are, it will be in "Spouse Mode" and won't listen to anything you tell it. Let me know what happens or if you need to be rescued😊
Hi there! I like watching all of the FSD videos on various channels. Just thought of something for when new versions are released...if you change any settings because you think they would make for a better drive, put them in the description section so viewers can see if they work for others. I just downloaded 12.3.6 yesterday (4/30/24) and will try it out today.
I’m in seventieth and hope improves of FSD will help me continue to use my own car I am later ages.
There were versions in which Tesla had the speed limits fine tuned with few issues. Now, with the latest versions following the speed limits has been a major PITA. I now have to disengage FSD to set the speed limit to the correct speed. It takes quite a bit of manipulation to get that done and pulls my focus off of driving and into speed control mode. I wish that they could get the speeds down to what they once were. One step forward two steps back is their motto I suppose.
Thanks for the video.Today is my last day of the free trial. I've had versions: 12.3.2.1, 12.3.3, 12.3.4 and as of today 12.3.5. I've had some amazing drives and some less than amazing drives. The $99/mo subscription is tempting, and if FSD was absolutely perfect I would do it in a second. But I've decided to wait until the next major point release version of 12.4 or 12.5 to subscribe. By then, it should be getting pretty damn close. I don't mean to downplay the significance of FSD and its intelligence.... it is totally amazing and I never thought I'd see anything like this in my lifetime.
_By then, it should be getting pretty damn close_
If by close you mean Level 5 Full Autonomy, well that is still far in the future.
FSD today is a Level 2 assistant. Nothing more.
Which hardware do you have?
@@ctuna2011 Hardware 3. It’s a 2023 Model 3.
Got it two hours ago. Seems like a nice improvement. Just did a quick 4 mile round trip - first time with no interventions on that simple route.
Big improvement in the empty neighborhood portion, where previous versions didn't like not having any reference traffic. It got out of my driveway and made two left turns with appropriate speed and smoothness. Then did four round-abouts perfectly and brought me home.
12.3.6 Model Y 2023.
2:55 I have an idea for Tesla, if in doubt about the speed limits, they should measure the speed of oncoming cars, if any, removing the outliers, and adjust to that. I believe they could make some clever calculations based on identification of car brand and model combined with the perceived size as it approaches.
Some regression, some improvement. I have 12.3.6 and have had it make a right turn into the bike lane (twice). It had to cross a solid white line to get into the bike lane treating it like a car travel lane (it was a wide bike lane). Big oops there. On the plus side, it actually recognized a 15 MPH school zone for the very first time.
Thanks Don. After almost 4 years, FSD continues to make mistakes every day.
Hopefully v13 or v14 will be better.
@@DerekDavis213it’s a brand new architecture. Can’t even compare this to v11 and prior.
@@APatchworkCanvas v12 has been released for about 90 days. And training is happening 24 hours per day in Tesla's monster data center.
And yet, the latest v12 makes all kinds of obvious mistakes on any mildly challenging drive. Level 5 Full Autonomy is a long ways off!
@@DerekDavis213 Poor baby
@@APatchworkCanvas Not me. The people that paid $15k or $12k for FSD that is supervised? I feel sad for those people.
do you have hardware 3 on that Y?
I Had to buy a camera mount to show the dangers of fsd 12.3. I'm on 12.3.6 now and I just don't get how it keeps getting worse. Just had it slam so hard on the brakes for a yellow light that it was no more than 10 feet from. If there was a car behind it would have been an accident. Struggles to get into correct left turn lane. Still chooses poor lane choice then fights to get over. It still is a regression from v11 which is wild
Thanks for this video. I think at that light when it hesitated, one of the cars in the oncoming lane gave a slight move forward but stopped immediately. maybe that is the reason for the hesitation?
One of the limitations is not the supercomputer that has to crunch the data but the number of parameters that have to be handled locally in the car.
Why are your hands on the wheel? FSD?
I am going to be soooooo disappointed in giving up my FSD Supervised free trial soon (tomorrow?). I just don't have the need for it as much as I thought.
I was a little hesitant in trusting it at first but after using it a couple of times I was blown away by its' capabilities. I was most impressed when it changed lanes due to a faster approaching vehicle and then changed back into the passing lane once it was clear. It was seemless! Can only imagine what "13" will look like.
Well, just buy it?
@@RubenKelevra I don't need it, but it is a great piece of software!
@@john9663 so why don't buy it, if you enjoy it? 🤔
@@RubenKelevra How about, NO? FSD is supposed to be Self-Driving, not supervised driving.
2023 MYP here and I still haven’t gotten my free trial 😢
It does sem to be fully self driving. At least in these roads in these conditions. Which bodes well for Tesla
@2:48 it was thinking about the white suv in your left corner / over the mirror via video.
why did you take-over at the end?
Currently, all versions of FSD have struggled in 3 area of my commute. All of them are staging related.
The fans will say: wait for 12.4 . It will be a game changer!
But we've heard that before.
@@DerekDavis213 Eh. Idk. I think Teslas got it tbh. They’re rolling out an update a week and each and every one of them is noticeably better and they’re just point releases.
@@markfrantz4612 Tesla has got it? What do you mean?
And the weekly point releases sometimes bring regressions, in addition to improvements.
What is the deal with FSD speeding? Happened to me as well. How can you control it?
Is the speed available in cruise control when this happens?
You have to turn the auto speed assist off. You can set a percent speed so you don't go more than whatever percent over the posted limit you want. Less likely to get a ticket or really tick off the people behind you. Maybe kind of the sweet spot so to say.
I went back to % over as it was way too fast. Had it go through school zones at 40mph and had to brake.
When NHTSA gets involved to approve autonomous driving are they going to approve this 'keep up with the traffic philosophy'?? Seems if they were all excited because certain icons were too small, they may not approve this over the speed limit stuff?
I doubt they will approve the automatic speeding function. Why should they?
Why do you keep touching the wheel? Is it just habit?
mine is telling me it wants to update from 12.3.15 to 12.3.25 just now .
I'm afraid elon will fire all the fsd staff and we wont get anymore updates 😢
I’ve stopped predicting at this point.
How come the computer didn’t ask you once to keep your hands on the wheel? It seems you had pretty long breaks without touching the wheel.
I noticed that too. The time between nags is getting longer.
It’s been out since April 1-2024 where u been
You’re asking it to break the law at 7:30. That’s a solid while line and NOT a drive lane.
It had me doing 48 in a 35 the other day. I disengaged, and turned off that feature.
Same here. I do not understand how it thinks 10+ miles a above the speed limit in a slowish zone is acceptable. Does it learn the behavior from other Teslas driving the route? It is strange.
@@danielam3829 FSD doesn't care about the *legal* *speed* *limit* . Why should it? 😄
Here in the Midwest that number on the sign is just a suggestion. Still, 10 over will get you unwanted attention. I'd just do the percent offset and not the auto speed function until it's calmed down a bit. Each iteration is pretty sweet. Still a long way to go in my opinion, but it's miles ahead of any other driving assistance program I've come across yet. And each new version is as bad as it's going to get. Which is pretty wild to think about.
Just getting this update to but it says 24.3.25
I’m not sure about all the technicalities, but 2024.3.25 is the number of the software update, and FSD 12.3.6 is included in the update. Or something like that. If you open your Tesla app on your phone and scroll down almost to the very bottom, there’s a link to “Release Notes”. If you tap on that it has some more info about what’s in the update.
@@michael7191 ok thank you for the info!
Until they make an inpatient driver mode that doesn't piss everyone off behind me, I just can't pay for it. It's so embarrassing when car drives to slow and also takes to long to figure a decision. 😢
Why not subscribe fsd with cost about a cup of coffee a day
I'm on a road trip and.6 does not precondition for Supercharging. 🤬
Why do you use a function soly made to speed and then complain that the car is speeding? 🤔
"it started to slow down before it signaled" - AS MANY PEOPLE DO. I call it "implied signaling". Its annoying.
I'm glad you all volunteered to be beta testers for Tesla. Risking your life and car for generous compensation. Oh wait! you are doing this for free! Go figure.
A very easy drive, but FSD has some issues:
1:18 A slow right turn
2:42 Big hesitation, for no reason
3:02 FSD is 11 mph over the speed limit
4:12 Not a flawless drive, so far
IPAD on wheels
I’m very unhappy with 12.3.6. Very jerky and scary compared to 12.3.4.
flawless? The speed control is far from good.
i like BYD car china
I wouldn’t put my child in it and send them on their way.
Not yet.
@@iowatesla it does not appear possible with the tools available. Tesla will probably be bankrupt in the next three years.
Americans. Let's buy parents FSD.
Senseless and boring
