My cat had a stroke I believe. He was laying on his back having a seizure it looked like with his feet in the air. He now appears to have lost his sight. He gets up and walks in circles. Sometimes moaning really loud. He has settled down a bit. He walks in circles over and over bumping into things and eventually lays down. He was trying to hide behind the furniture. He has drank some water and eaten a little of his food. I have an appointment to have him checked out. My friend said I should have him put to sleep. I want to do everything possible before making that decision. He is 15 years old as well. Do you think there is hope for him? Will his eyesight return?
My 18 year old cat just started having seizures, he is blind, but can still see shadows and some light, but after his seizures, he goes completely blind. It returns within a few hours. He also moans before he goes into convulsions and walks very oddly afterwards, he still doesn't have the strength back in his legs. With his age, and underlying health conditions, we are focusing on palliative care and keeping him comfortable rather than putting him through a lot of stressful diagnostics. But he possibly has cancer that has spread to his brain and renal failure, both of which can progress to seizures. Today at the vet we found out his blood pressure is high and he gets spikes of elevated blood sugar, so we started meds for that. I can say from having a blind cat, that it does not affect them too badly, their other senses are stronger than ours. My cat also uses his whiskers to guide him around furniture and walls. With elderly kitties, I weigh their comfort and what I am willing to put them through, and also if they seem to have quality of life. I know my boy is still happy between his seizures, he plays on his turbo scratcher and has actually put on weight because he loves his food. Other people (even a vet at the cat ER) have hinted to putting him down, but I know he still has some life left in him, and he has always been such a survivor. You know your kitty best and will know when it's time.

I liked everything you said, and done.....up until you coughed, and NOT covered your mouth. You're supposedly a Veterinarian. I would've walked out right then and there, if you we're speaking to me about my cat. How do you expect your customers to have respect for your procedures, and follow your instructions, if you don't have any respect for your customers and their pets, by covering your mouth when you cough ???
- First of all, this video was recorded a year ago, well before COVID-19. Secondly, there are virtually NO DISEASES that are zoonotic between humans & cats, so the kitty was in no danger whatsoever. Finally, the doctor was just floofing face to face with a MAINE COON. That sounded to me like a choking-on-cat-hair cough, which comes on suddenly and involuntarily - you have no time to react appropriately.

Our 10 yo cat went through a procedure with anesthesia and lost her sight with a as stroke. We just brought her home and are devastated watching her. I’m looking on here for some guidance in how to deal with this to make her life better. It’s so difficult 😢
❤
Do you have any suggestions on how helpful it is to use plavix on a cat with cerebellar stroke and no underlying issues found (other than FIV/Felv)? Also is there anything I can do to help him rehab?
Thanks for the video, woke up this morning and my cat is just like Lenin. He's 23, so very old. Trying to get him some hwlp.
When I woke up this morning my cat had a stroke. She was lethargic and cranky, and she walked funny. When she went to get a drink of water she couldn't stand up. So my sister took her to the vet, and they put the cat down
@@kenrutherford1109 sorry to hear. Yeah, my boy was put to sleep 2 days after posting that.
@@Cyahlaytar I'd like to point out that you misspelled "help." I'm just sayin'
If your cat is able to eat try adding a gram of
L- taurine.
My friend is using the box after an hour after his setback. It took him about 30 minutes to be able to eat after the setback. I was a thinking crybaby. 😅
I believe that he is running out of time. 😢
Couldn't it also be an inner ear infection??
My kitten of 3 months old is also going through the same problem as Lennin, the doc here have kept her on ivf and have given us few medications and it’s been three days but there’s no recovery please suggest me what to do next to help her recover quickly!
Also, please pray for her too!!
Hello Dolly, we know how difficult it is to see your pet experiencing neurological symptoms. Unfortunately, in order to give clinical advice, our Neurologist requires that pets be seen for a thorough workup. At that time, treatment options and recovery could be discussed. We are here for you if you need us. sevneurology.com
What is medicine
My cat is 2years old last 15 days she cried because of fungus infection so I didn't understand what to do then I gave her neomec tab ...she take dose 3times (3tabs)but now she is paralysis doctor said that tabs overdose made her paralyzed now she can't walk and just looks constant .....can you please tell me that will she feeling well?plz help me
She should be evaluated by a neurologist if possible. A physical examination is the important first step in determining why a pet can't walk.
i have one today i hope someone can recommend me like home remedy what am i supposed to do please im begging can someone????

Thank you so much Dr 🙏
What is the procedure happening at 6:37?
Spinal tap. Collection of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).
@@SEVNeurology Thank you so much for the fast reply. My cat unfortunately had a fatal stroke back in 2018 and it's been on my mind a lot lately then as fate would have it your video popped up. I found it very informative and was so happy to hear of the positive prognosis for Lenin. Thank you for the amazing work that you do!
The cats dogs wild animals can have strokes and seizures heart attacks and cancers infection and tumors are very important for her to be careful of the cats dogs and I had congested heart failure and injuries.
What state are you working in? Very good vet!
Thanks. We have locations in South Florida (Jupiter, Boynton Beach, Miami) and are opening in Virginia Beach, VA in August 2022.
I think my bros cat tiger has this
great educational videos, help me with some diagnosis in my small practice. I am not doing MRI, and neural surgery, but good neurological exam which I saw on your videos is good tool...... ;)
Oliver Stevanovic Thanks. That means so much to me.
My cat had a presumed Menigioma, I got another three years out of him with prednisone, which is the average life span extension with it.
My cat died of a massive stroke 4 days ago.
Is this treatable or is this a death sentence?
Most get better with treatment and time.
Lenon the cat died like lenon the man , a big fat stroke
My cat just got a stroke is abut 13 yrs old but refuses too eat and drink he sleeps a lot he does not have a good balance anymore but looks like he still want to live life he just have no interest for food or liquids at all any suggestions Dr. Plz we don’t know what 2 do he was at the vet for 2 days and brought him back home.
Tough to say without examining him in person. Lab work? Examination? Has he seen a neurologist?
Yaagul, I am sorry about your cat, just trust that you will know when and if it is time to let him go...
Hi how did you manage with him going to the loo. I'm struggling with her just pooping where she lies.. She gets covered in it. Please help😢
@@julieadie8193don't make her suffer my cat passed yesterday from an stroke she couldn't make it shw was lying there i couldn't do anything she had her nervous system compromised. Just let her go, go to the vet and see if she can make it if she can't then put her on sleep im sorry.
Why the x rays? Just to check if thorax is clean to MRI or also to help discard one of the possible dif diagnosis?

@@XPilotYT - Excellent point. I should have known that from all the fake pilots who mouth on the aviation channels who mouth off like their MS Flight Simulator experience trumps the 30-year 747 pilots in the comments. Sigh.
@@verreal- In the likely event that my theory was correct and he got a bit choked up from the exceedingly floofy Maine Coon, then his cough could have been nearly involuntary! Or are you one of those people who think that sneezing is impolite too? Because sorry, yeah - that would totally make you a Karen, too.
@@XPilotYT ~ I suspected from your username that you’d definitely relate to the sim jockey problem :-) I’m just embarrassed that I didn’t know about your channel before now! I’ve subscribed and I’m off to catch up on your back catalog. (Yep, I’m an #avgeek.) So for that alone, I am grateful for this Karen(s) incident. ;-)
