Some soviet planes have alcohol as cooling agent. And they required tankers of that vodka. Lots of it

There was one vehicle that required ethanol in one of its operating fluids. I can’t remember which one.

@@N7mudkip what he's talking about is absolutely declassified, he's just acting secretive for the camera and to make it seem like he's actually a useful source of information. A lot of shit is declassified from those times, I mean they literally declassified a document where the CIA was drugging citizens, you think they care about a document saying russia planned on invading Europe and made sure their army could supply with NATO shit? Literally everyone already knew that. Obviously there's shit that's still classified, the most important shit, but nothing he is talking about is that important, obviously or it wouldn'tve been declassified.

What is trailing link landing gear and how does it help landing on improvised runways? Anybody know? 🤔

    • @Miragexe
      @Miragexe 6 місяців тому +15

It's a bit about geometry, how the landing gear is designed so it absorbs the impact of a landing and disperses the energy so that the plane doesn't bounce but land smoothly also on rougher terrain.
Pretty common in most fighter planes and jets for many decades.

Elaborating a bit on Mirage’s explanation, trailing link gear is when the wheel is mounted on a hinged (and sprung/damped) trailing arm that extends behind the main gear strut. This allows for greater suspension travel and gentler impact forces on the airframe, at the cost of larger and heavier landing gear

You see trailing link gear on a lot of naval aircraft designed to land on carriers. IIRC, the F/A-18 family have it.

True of many soviet things- it’s why a lot of the time their mortars/artillery/tank guns are juuuuuuust slightly bigger so they can kinda use our stuff but we can’t use theirs

That is an old wives tale. I'm sure there are some exceptions, and sure... If the round fits, you can try firing it. It will be really ineffective though. Guns need to fit snuggly for them to gain pressure, you know?
      You can't use a 120mm with a 125mm gun willy nilly. Or a 155mm with a 152mm round.
The Fins tried using the 81mm with an 82mm motar to little success.
When it came to the guns. I read they made it 125mm since their ammo pound for pound was never as good for the most part, and Western tanks are heavier with more armor.
I bet the Ukrainians wished they could use NATO standard rounds on their Soviet pieces! They are begging for more 155mms.
Same with old Soviet block countries joining NATO. They had to spend a lot of money to get within NATO standards. I read that is a perquisite for a country joining so everyone's military can work together much easier, although I am not sure if that is a myth as well.
If I'm wrong then please show me proof. I can't find anything on it.

    Greatest man in history
    - Had no servants, yet they called him Master.
    - Had no degree, yet they called him Teacher.
    - Had no medicines, yet they called him Healer.
    - He had no army, yet kings feared Him.
    - He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world.
    - He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.
    - He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today
""His name is Jesus""
