Haahahahahaha!! Ive always thought that! Flying these cute earthly bound planes when hes normally gallivantin around the universe in the Millennium Falcon! He does do a good job pretending to be Harrison Ford. Also that Indiana Jones guy.
A lot of you don't know this but Mr. Ford volunteers to fly Lifeflight rescue missions for free. He helps by volunteering his time, skills, and craft to saving the lives of others! Bless you sir!

That's is a completely false claim. Harrison Ford has volunteered his services flying search and rescue in his Bell helicopter near his 800-acre ranch in Jackson Hole, but he has never been involved with air ambulance services. He's rescued a couple of hikers. That's great, but ease up on the superhero bullshit, wouldja?
At least with helicopters you are allowed to land on a taxiway.

I think you meant colour grading. Cinematography involes manipulation of light. Various bits of lighting equipment.

No one needs therapy or meditation, we just need to hear Harrison Ford saying in the most serene tone ever "Denver tower good morning : Beaver 1-5-3-tango ready runway 3-5 right" "alright sir, 1-5-3-tango on the roll, 3-5 right".

@@dragonage200 While not common, I have heard other pilots say that or something like for various reason... When I was a student pilot practicing soft field take offs my instructor and I specifically would ask for a rolling take off, no hold short nor on threshold (line up and wait / the old phrase: position and hold).
But what you're supposed to say is repeat your clearance.
Pilots though can say improper phraseology so long as the controller understands; and if they don't they can ask to clarify.
I don't find anything wrong with his "on the roll"... so long as he repeated his clearance too.
jmitterii2 that’s the american ga pilot style. If you fly outside the US, especially those countries that dont speak english as their first language, no one’s gonna know what “on the roll” “i got him on the fish finder” etc means

For those you didn’t get it: Harrison Ford landed on a taxiway and didn’t even notice. But for anyone who has seen the last Indiana Jones n°4, we know he’s senile and they couldn’t even keep him online long enough to film him, so I dread to imagine how much he understands when piloting a plane.
Taxiing across an active runway, Harrison Ford does it again.

@@joeylantis22 he takes a lot of heat for that…. True, but he owned his mistake humbly. None of the 1000s of pilots I’ve flown with were perfect either. If you are famous I guess there will always be somebody that wants to cut you down. But in this case his contributions to aviation need to be considered.
I remember my mom took me here when i was 10 years old at the wings over the rockies museum on my birthday. Wanted to be a pilot ever since.. Now i’m 18 years old as a aircraft mechanic in the Airforce. I’ll fly one day!

My inspiration was my dad flying for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. I went with him on several occasions and loved it. I got my license and followed in his footsteps. The best day ever was the day I got to have him fly with me on a manhunt. I turned the plane over to him and asked him to show me how it’s done. He did. What a great day. Sure do miss him. I think of him every time I go wheels up. Thank you Harrison Ford.
Harrison is a wonderful fella. He is down to earth, kind and best of all, humble. He hasn't let his fame and success go to his head. The definition of what a man should be. God bless him!

Around the 2 minute mark he asks a question, the answer is lots of money sir. Lots.
It's all relative, but to get your PPL is only about $5-8k. I'm about a quarter of the way through mine, but it took some significant lifestyle changes and a lot of planning. Sure, it would be a lot easier if you're richer, but it's not impossible if you're not.
People spend more money on buying fancy iphones, netflix subscriptions, buying new cars every 5 years, fancy restaurants, resort vacations etc.. which will add up to a lot more than what it takes to fly. Harrison Ford can do all that and still fly, but for most of us it is a matter of prioritizing.
Far from it, In Australia it is possible to be up and flying solo for less than $2000, In the US, for even less than that you can build and fly your own microlite without need of anything more than a drivers lisence.

I started flying a year ago, at the age of 63. I may not have started young (money & time were contraints), but I started. Like the other replies, if you want it bad enough, you will find a way.
Andrew Sarangan yes, if you substitute all of that for just flying a small, old aircraft, you can fly. Flying is HORRENDOUSLY expensive and always has been. No regular working man can afford new aircraft and their maintenance - not even close. Super expensive.
If I could chose between Jeff Bezos Gulfstream and Mr. Ford's Beaver I would chose the Beaver. In the Army we had 5 Otters (kind of a stretched Beaver if you will) I got to know them intimately during their restoration and test flights.

@@kathrynw3 about $80/hour rental rate on some basic aircraft models, so you can fly twice per month for one hour long practices plus one or two long trips per year, plus rental insurance. Of course the initial training will cost some more but that's a one time spending.

I know it's been 52 yrs since we were sanding your job on Cherie & Al's Santa Monica home, but had couple nightmares of flyin' since. 1st one May '79, as returning from Hawaii. At LAX, picked up Extra Edition of L.A. Times, & there was photo of AMR 191 DC-10 Service O'Hare to that Trailer Park next door., earlier that day! Arraigned Wedding ourselves, so married couple weeks earlier, as originally planned! At L.A., I just folded paper, tucked it under my wing (aviation term), & boarded flight to O'Hare, also an AMR DC-10....but Capt only used about 70% thrust, we got in air, Capt babied it, we arrived late, but didn't land in that Trailer Park! He wasn't scared or nuthin'!! But Harry, if you think that was exciting....in '90s working MDOT, got slammed by Microburst's windshear! EB on I-96, loaded pickup picked up, then slammed back down @60 degree angle to highway, & bounced twice, w/triple load!! So what to my wondering eyes did appear, but fully loaded Liner on ILS approach to G.R., COMPLETELY STATIONARY!! 150knt headwind was ready to become 150knt tailwind, & that Buddy, is no lift at all!! You're still familiar with flyin', ain't cha Harry? W/turbines at Flt Idle, slowing to land, their gooses' was cooked!! NTSB ruled savin' anyone was impossible, but somehow this Capt had saved all 155 aboard, despite definite 100% obvious loss of all on board, plus plane fractionalized!! Don't cha wanna find out how I pulled that off, don't cha, don't cha, don't cha?? If Tom Hanks could turn his, "Sully" into a Quarter Billion Dollar Blockbuster, by simply washin' his liner in The Hudson, then think how much coin might you turn doin' The Impossible, in Sully 1000 or Sully 5000, w/neither actually exaggerating!!! I'll be chargin' ya dbl this time, Buddy Boy, not like with doin' your Carpentry, AND Acting Portfolio photos for free...., but goll dang it!! Twice Free,...is still free, so guess would turn the trick for ya all the way to Mr. Oscar, gratis!! (unless that's too much seein' we're Buddies & all....let me know!) - Ewin Schmidt from FLA!!
Great Video! Harrison is a true Aviator and is sharing the passion with others. In reference to the Taxiway Charlie Incident , that is a Mistake easy to make in that Airport and Human factors come into the equation as well as frequency changes etc. Go easy on the man guys! Are you perfect?

WOW, absolutely incredible, and with Harrison Ford both flying and narrating, it couldn't have been anything less! Yes, I too, grew up having dreams of flying. In the beginning, I would start flapping my arms as hard as I could and just be able to lift my feet off the ground just a few inches. Little by little, dream by dream, my frantic arm flapping took me higher and higher, but only a few feet. But then one dream, I got up high enough to meet the dreaded telephone lines, but I couldn't get beyond them. As my dreams progressed, I needed only to flap my arms a few times and I would start gracefully soaring up into the sky,and soon past those dreaded telephone lines. I would go higher and higher into the sky; higher than the tallest skyscrapers and through the clouds, up into the highest parts of the Atmosphere. When I got as high as I wanted in a dream, I would point my body back towards Earth, and just like Superman, which is most likely why I flew just like him ( LOL ), I would rocket back down to earth. But my dreams didn't end there. I would launch myself into the air, just like Superman, I would leave our atmosphere , head into space and keep going, willing myself to go higher and higher, farther & farther. I would leave our own galaxy behind and keep willing myself to go on & on, to the point to where there were no more galaxies. I would find myself at the very edge of the Universe; a dark and quiet place indeed. I always had a strange feeling whenever I had those particular dreams. Then, I would turn myself around and head back. Thankfully, I never got lost..LOL..!! I am 67 now and haven't had those dreams in many years, but I still have fond memories of them. Sadly, I never became a pilot, but I did spend 4 years in the Navy in an aviation squadron and got to work with some awesome planes and those few, short years are the highlight of my young adult Life. I have wished so many times over the years that I would have stayed in the Navy, or possibly even gotten into the Air Force ( as enlisted ), but I was young and all of my best friends were getting out, and I never tried to discuss my future with any of the officers or anyone else in the squadron, and so I got out.
My first job i got in aviation was in jackson wy where he actually keeps his beaver its to see because ive worked on that plane and have been in his sovern and also locked his keys in his subarban my first month on the job lol
To all those trying to bag out Harrison Ford over his "Flying Incident" from an old fart thats learnt lots of lessons over the years (usually the hard way).
It's easy to go through life and never make a mistake. You only have to do two things, the first is "Do absolutely Nothing" and the second is "Lie".
The moment you do "Anything" you open your self upto making a mistake. What shows up the true character of the person is what they do next.
Most people do the second thing, they lie!
My understanding is that Harrison Ford called the tower after landing and admitted it was him. He could have tried to bury it, he didn't.

My old flight instructor asked us one day, "What makes an airplane fly?"
Many answered lift, or the airfoil, or airspeed, or a combination of the three.
"No," my old flight instructor, said rather bemused. "Money is what makes an airplane fly!"

Oh God how I have wished to be able to fly. For some of us our dreams are no less real and full of want than those who have reached their dreams.
Bad things happen to Good people and when that happens those dreams are put away due to the reality of our own circumstances.
Maybe it’s not financially possible or maybe health has stood in front of your dream of flight.
Mr. Harrison, I too had that dream as a child. It would happen at least once a week from childhood up into my age now. I’m a couple of years behind you
in age and I still have that dream. I look forward to that dream, and go to sleep wanting for it to happen.
For me, in 2008 my dreams of flying were destroyed by Wall Street. My life went from being ready to fulfill my dream of buying a small plane or in my case a Roto copter. Only a few months away from finally getting to fly for real, to being forced to nearly survive, to eat, to keep a roof over our head.
So my dreams were crossed out without enough time left to get a re-do.
So know I live, and I pray for that dream to happen as much as possible and when it does I put out my arms and fly wherever my dream allows me to.
I’m not bitter, I’m disappointed, I’m too old to get back what I had worked all my life to achieve. I should have kept my money in a bank, a simple savings account would have protected my life’s savings.
Instead I put my trust in place with the wrong company and paid the price.
But I love that dream and hope it happens again and again. For it’s the only way I will ever fly. It’s better than never having had the dream and I’m grateful for it.

The dream of flying a DHC-2 only requires movie star money. Easy enough for most.
"You can find a place in aviation if you look." So true. A job in aviation is just not flying. I love aviation and I loved being a firefighter, so I became an Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF). That was my "place in aviation" for many years.
Just make sure you approach the runway from the right direction.

the tower was more friendly than usual they don't treat pilots that informally from other videos I've seen on YT and they speak way fast too the point it is discouraging for me to want to try to learn how to fly cause I can 't hear what they are totally saying and my safety might be in peril. But this case it was MR. ford so they made it sound easier too

I have those dreams, at least once every five years. At 4 yrs old I decided I wanted to be a pilot, and I was one, until I became a mother, then my kids took priority over my lifetime dream. I hope I can go back to flying in my old years, after my youngest one gets into college. I feel nostalgic in the early mornings when I am walking my dogs under a beautiful clear sky. I take my soul up there, and imagine the world from 1,000 ft, from 5,000 ft, from 20,000 ft. Thank you so much for this beautiful video 💕, it makes me feel ALIVE!

-We had a professional lawyer in ABQ that every afternoon, drove a short distance from his office, to the Cutter GA hanger at ABQ. Each afternoon he fired up his Bell helo in the hanger, when ready, he lifted off.. still in the hanger..., Flew out the Door sweeping over the city traffic below, to his home in the far north valley. Repeated same in return early each morning.
Retired and lived very well... to ripe old age :)

This was a great video! I love Harrison's DHC2 Beaver. It is one of my favorite airplanes along with the Corsair F4U, and the Westland Lysander. Although I can't afford to fly, my passion is RC flying. Every time I hear the roar of an airplane or a helicopter I always look up to the skies to see where its it's at.
I call the Rockies my home. Born and raised in western Colorado, and I currently live in Vernal Utah. I have traveled from coast to coast, border to border, but the mountains will always be my home.

I had flying dreams as a child, hovering a couple feet off the street where i lived, in a reclined position, as i traveled down the street. Once a dream took me above the Earth, it was so beautiful. It might have been an out of body experience. Great video, Sir.

Solo was my childhood hero. He's right, I had these dreams of flight too. I don't have the money to buy a plane so I bought a DJI Mavic Air drone. Now I can see what the eagles see. I'm hooked and maybe one day I will fly my own plane. Thanks Mr. Ford, You are and always will be an inspiration.

This was a great inspirational video. Harrison, thank you. I had the honor to have an article I wrote about flying a plane in England appear in DownWind flying magazine a number of years ago. It just so happens that you (Harrison Ford) were on the cover of the magazine for that issue with a feature article about Flight. Dec/Jan 2010. This video for Wings over the Rockies so conveyed my feelings about flying I almost broke into tears watching it. I think Harrison Ford's greatest legacy (in addition to being a great actor) will be his ability to communicate his feelings; Our feelings - about how very deep in mankind's soul comes the love of flight. Very well done Mr Ford, Yes I had flying dreams as a child, resulted in me becoming a Pilot, Flight Instructor and airplane owner with lots of very good memories.

It’s so weird seeing Harrison Ford happy and at ease. Usually he’s kinda grumpy and laconic in public, like he disdains his fame and celebrity. But here, he’s just promoting his hobby. 🤔
I'm so thankful that I can fly! Some of my friends and family dont understand why I would risk my life doing it. But in reality I fly safe and aviation has saved my life. A life of boredom and just existing.
