Huawei got 4M preorders for its new phone. The WeChat channels are blowing up with this phone. It’s slim ,it’s daring design , it’s expensive and def a status symbol. There no queues for the IPhone 16. I won’t be surprise if sales in China drops a further 30-40%. They are def in trouble.
I wasn’t sure about a folding Huawei phone at first, but having seen a demonstration video I am converted! It could double up as an iPad, how convenient!!
Congrats to Huawei for thinking outside of the box and always being innovative. This Mate XT Ultimate Design phone is amazing. I just checked and Huawei has 4 million pre-orders even at its US$3,000 price tag. So obviously, there’s a demand/market for this product. Of course I fully understand that there’s never a product that’s right for everyone. Just like fast food chains; some like McDonalds, some like Burger King, some like KFC, some don’t like at all. The Mate XT has a cover screen of 6.4 inches, bi-fold 7.9 inches, tri-fold 10.2 inches. It can fold inward or outward. It has 4 cameras; one being a periscope telephoto camera. Besides the tri-folding design, it has AI features, satellite communications, stylus support, and keyboard attachment. Like you said, Andy, it’s like an iPhone, iPad and laptop all-in-one; nice and compact. I travel a lot and do business on the go. I carry my cell phone in my pocket and my laptop in a shoulder carrying bag everywhere I go. It’s inconvenient to pass thru airport security where I have to take my laptop out of the case and turn on the computer for security check. I do work/drawing up contracts while waiting for my flight or when I’m on board. The Mate XT offers every conveniences that I need. I would gladly pay Us$3,500 for this phone/computer.
Andy this device is actually not clunky at all, its only slightly thicker than a slab phone at 14 mm if I'm not mistaken at the thickest point when closed. It easily fits in your pocket. As someone that works extensively on their phone not only in email, presentations but also image editing on the go, I would absolutely love to have it, but it is too expensive for now. I will wait for the price to drop to at least 2000 USD.
Once Again Andy for your interesting podcast on China’s Huawei. WOW thanks inviting a very knowledgeable Warwick Powell who have such comprehensive insights 👌👍so informative & always brilliantly articulated 👌👍🙏👏👏👏
Tri-fold phone has it uses it saves space and I was looking for such a device that is able to offer such a large screen size and can fit in the pocket. The hefty price make it as costly as a laptop but I need to study the specifications to see how it performs vs a laptop. For the rich, it is certainly a status symbol.
@@CharonTFM more like the Nissan Skyline GT-R in 1989, a technical marvel and a wonder weapon on the racetrack back then but the Europeans and Australians worked at ways to force them out
Huawei XT will mark an emblem for folded screen smartphone, and will inevitably re-start a market competition and incite consumer appetite for multifold screen of pocket holdable, handheldable yet of ergonomic size when unfolded.
As the price comes down on these foldable phones, I can see having one of these to serve as phone and tablet. Easier to have just one device and makes travelling more convenient.
More then 4m phones sold on the pre-sell. Computers couldnt take the administration, so employees had to use handwriting to apply new costumers. ¥80.000 on resell price for 1 HUAWEI phone.
Cheaper to own a Huawei Mate XT to attract attention than to spend more to get a slightly better car. It is very handy if the person can afford it. I personally bring both a handphone and a tablet when I move around. This will solve the problem.
Huawei comes again with a remarkable smartphone which I believe is a product that will become a status symbol as it is powerful and looks very different than any other smartphones. Everyone already has a smartphone and what people need is something which is different but has all the functionality. A big screen is what I need when I watch a movie.
@@yaoliang1580 I watch movies on my iPad when I am on travel but the picture is just as small. With a bigger screen it would be nicer and yet not too cumbersome to carry as it can folded.
It never been about the phones but about the ecosystem. I’m still rocking my iPhone 4s and have no problems for the 12 years I have it. I don’t get blindsided by the specs but about if it meets my needs. When my iPhone 4s died (maybe in 2030), I will buy another iPhone.
While iPhone sales in China will definitely be affected, I feel this phone and other fold-able phones form their own unique market segment. If anything, I think this trend will actually eat more into iPad and other brand's tablet sales
I think Microsoft is looking at this (and other foldable Chinese phones) and basically holding that towel, ready to throw it, for their Surface Duo phone of theirs at any second. Even without the competition from Chinese brand, that thing just can't catch a break.
Which one is better, or worse, is Huawei’s new mobile phone or Apple’s iPhone 16? In fact, discussing this topic shows that the US blockade and sanctions against Huawei are ineffective. Today, the United States is still making the same mistakes. Its China policies on chips and electric vehicles are two very serious mistakes. Blockades are of no use in today's world market. Only by cooperating, improving oneself, and learning from each other's strengths can we survive.
I don't see anything wrong with its pricing of this new tri-phone. Rather a statement made by Huawei is now in the conversation as the top dog in the sphere of both the smart phone & related tech entity. Nothing bad with competition in the rear view mirror chasing. Best marketing money can buy.

The main obstacle for Huawei is global adoption, particularly due to the impact of US geopolitical policies. They've faced tariffs and restrictions on Google connectivity, which have hindered their progress. However, trends indicate that Huawei could dominate markets in other regions. In the future, consumers may prefer fewer devices; if one phone can serve as a replacement for standard foldable phones and tablets, it could shift preferences from other brands to Huawei. Many people have already moved away from carrying multiple devices like MP3 players, DSLRs, digital cameras, watches, and calculators. Therefore, it’s not surprising to see tablets and laptops potentially facing a similar decline.

BS thats all phonefarms paid by the CCP
$2,800 time 3 milllion = $8.4 billion.
I wasn’t sure about a folding Huawei phone at first, but having seen a demonstration video I am converted! It could double up as an iPad, how convenient!!
it is tablet in your pocket.
for people who has vision issues or wanna for people on the run to do ppt present. it is handy in your pocket or hand bag
Four millions pre-order x 2800 USD. THAT'S A VERY GOOD BUSINESS.
It's because of the kindness of US. If it wasn't for US, I don't think Huawei would be this improved.

For the rich, it is certainly a status symbol.
moved from iphone to samsung fold 6 this year, next year will probably jump on huawei tri-fold - the thing is awesome
This is incredible. I can’t wait to have a look at one at a HUAWEI store when I’m in China in October.
那个季节适合去深圳。那里10月气候温和。也可以去周边的广州和香港澳门玩玩。

Huawei XT will mark an emblem for folded screen smartphone, and will inevitably re-start a market competition and incite consumer appetite for multifold screen of pocket holdable, handheldable yet of ergonomic size when unfolded.
As the price comes down on these foldable phones, I can see having one of these to serve as phone and tablet. Easier to have just one device and makes travelling more convenient.
The price is high if you call it a phone.
The price is reasonable if you call it a foldable mobile computer😉👌🏻
More then 4m phones sold on the pre-sell.
Computers couldnt take the administration, so employees had to use handwriting to apply new costumers.
¥80.000 on resell price for 1 HUAWEI phone.
iphone buyers like hey dude I have new iphone which is same old iphone 10 and nothing changed. what a great phone.
That's why I recently bought a used iPhone 10 Max for $150. Only because I needed to use iMessage and FaceTime . 😂🤣
@@BSnicksyou got away with calling your iphone 10 the iphone 14 right 🤣
There's a camera control button as an extra though. 🤣🤣🤣
Would love to have the larger screen. A computer that I can put in my pocket. Incredible.
It’s $1000 to replace the screen on that phone. I’ll stick with my 14 Pro.
Cheaper to own a Huawei Mate XT to attract attention than to spend more to get a slightly better car. It is very handy if the person can afford it. I personally bring both a handphone and a tablet when I move around. This will solve the problem.
但富人看来,别人拿着200美金的手机,而我拿着汽车行走。

Huawei comes again with a remarkable smartphone which I believe is a product that will become a status symbol as it is powerful and looks very different than any other smartphones. Everyone already has a smartphone and what people need is something which is different but has all the functionality. A big screen is what I need when I watch a movie.
Watching videos from a smart phone is so miserable
@@yaoliang1580 I watch movies on my iPad when I am on travel but the picture is just as small. With a bigger screen it would be nicer and yet not too cumbersome to carry as it can folded.
It never been about the phones but about the ecosystem. I’m still rocking my iPhone 4s and have no problems for the 12 years I have it. I don’t get blindsided by the specs but about if it meets my needs. When my iPhone 4s died (maybe in 2030), I will buy another iPhone.
Read Warren Buffet reduced his substantial holdings in Apple Stock.
Damn he's ahead of the game!
Now people spend less by owning EV so they can afford luxury phones 😊
Don't think so that Huawei new phone meant to compete with iPhone 16 directly. Huawei may upgrade its existing normal smartphone.
Apple : Goodbye, Huawei : Good buy.
I don't see anything wrong with its pricing of this new tri-phone. Rather a statement made by Huawei is now in the conversation
as the top dog in the sphere of both the smart phone & related tech entity. Nothing bad with competition in the rear view mirror

Yes, price is King. Make it half the price and about 3/4 as good and it will sell naturally.
The two fold does not give 16:9 video format or an A4 proportion for typing. It is vastly more compact than tablets and mini tablets. They would sell like hot cakes, if it were not for the price.

The amazing new huawei mate xt is a must have cellular phone. Forever love❤ huawei❤.
Can't wait to get mine. Extremely unparalleled. Unreal tech❤❤❤
Clearly this is design to compete in a niche luxury mobile market.
A cell phone that can unfold into a tablet. That’s a major new function improvement, not just an incremental upgrade.

I think the tri-fold phone is for a niche market only. I would not pay that much for a phone.
Huawei is not interested in killing the iPhone. I like the tri-fold phone because I don’t need a huge pocket to put it in (like my iPhone plus) and the 10 inch screen is great for my eyesight! Too bad I cannot buy it in the U.S.!
The function of a watch is to tell "time".
One can get a good watch as cheap as $10.
Ask yourself: why is there a market for watches that are in thousands and even tens of thousands of dollars?
If you knew the answer, then just applied that to mobile phone.
And by the way, a home is just a roof over one's head, why super mansions , selling in millions of dollars, are still selling?
