    You’re lucky it was an animal. I was in Mammoth in October and had a human circling my camp site for 10 hours. I’d much rather have a wild animal circling around than a creeper.

      Absolutely. Humans are definitely worse. But if it were a person, I would have reacted very differently. I hope you have ways to maintain your safety?

      @@adventuresintruckland I’ve learned since that incident how to be better at being safe. I ended up calling and filing a police report and sending them photos of the footprints around the site.

      If anything feels not right, you should get out of there. Not worth the risk. I'm based in norcal if you find yourself in this area. Maybe we could do a weird overlander/van life collab lol

      I've camped in bear country quite a few times. Black bears aren't difficult to scare away

    I would put motion lights outside. I need to see at night if someone or something comes walking by.

    Once I heard noises outside my tent. My tent was a little hidden. Maybe a bear chomping? I'm the fearless guy, so I looked out. It was people making out!

    Might have been a black bear, Mountain Lion or large Deer perhaps? We have Elk in Arizona that love to nosy around our campsites at night and get into your stuff - but I don't know if you have those around June Lake or not. Hopefully (a suggestion...?) you keep some bear spray or other "protection" handy when you go out alone...

      I was thinking a deer, and it was rubbing its antlers on the truck. I'm not sure if elk are in that area. And I have pepper spray should I need it.

    I was camped there 2 weeks ago, sleeping in the bed of my truck...no camper

    So, what was it?

    • @adventuresintruckland
      @adventuresintruckland  11 місяців тому +1

      I don't actually know. As near as I can figure out, a deer jamming it's antlers under the wheel arch and rubbing on the sides of the truck. I couldn't find any tracks when I looked in the morning.

    No pass through to get in your cab & drive away???

      No, I'd be trapped in the back. But this would be the same if I had a slide in camper. That's a big difference between vans and trucks.

    Turn off the lights. Peek out the curtain! Pretty easy

      It's just fear of the unknown. If the truck was being rocked, I would definitely have a different reaction. It's actually happened a few times since then. I kinda like it now. I've got a big trip coming up. We'll have to see what kind of trouble I get into 😁

    Do u not carry a gun that would scere it of how u no its not a person

    • @adventuresintruckland
      @adventuresintruckland  11 місяців тому

      No gun. I cross state lines, so that could be problematic. I have other things I can use to defend myself with. Initially, I thought could that be a person, but none of the doors were being tried to get open. So I figured a large animal as high as my windows.

    99% of bad camping experiences are created by intrusive, rude humans.
