    Really appreciate your taking the time to explain every step along the way. The finished product is beautiful and the video is extremely informative. I’m about halfway through my first attempt at feather. Your detailed description of the process is very helpful.

    That is absolutely the definition of a true bowie knife. I get so tired of so many others out there making some long blade and calling it a bowie. This blade is worth every penny in my humble opinion. Absolutely beautiful work.

    I have watched several videos with elaborate diagrams and such, but never show the billet orientation during forging. This video is by far the best I have seen. I am on my third attempt at feather damascus .I feel pretty confident with help of this video , the 3rd attempt will be a success. Thank You!

    I just happened to mention my new found interest to my son (Burley cong.) last night. He told me about you. I have only watched 1 of your videos, but in my opinion, it is the best produced.

    Thank you for sharing. I don’t have the capability to forge yet but have been doing stock removal. Bids like this will get me there.

    Very well done video one of the better produced I have seen, and I learned a fair bit as well! Great job! As a relatively new bladesmith 2.5ish years I have been watching a lot of videos and this one ranks towards the top if not the top, for cinematography, good information, and very smooth and informative commentary.

    Gawd damn, I expected this channel to be yet another one of these generic bladesmith channels..
    As soon as you said you are a mastersmith, I knew I would be in for a treat
    Man, the video quality is soo nice, I love the slow pace and clean audio- and I absolutely love bowies and featherdamascus itself. Watching this just makes me want to do one myself as next project even more :D
    Immediately subbed and looking forward to the next videos !

    Great video, question though how come some people add flux before the heat and some add steel powder (?) on it,,, just curious... Im fascinated by this craftsmanship 👍👍💯✌️

    • @wilburnforge140
      @wilburnforge140  Місяць тому

      Flux is used very sparingly. Dry weld is way better.

    For a 15“ blade Bowie 21“overall length How thick and wide at the base of the blade would you want the blade?

  • @jmbstudio6873
    @jmbstudio6873 7 місяців тому +2

    I thought this would be a forge to shape vid. Nice job. Lots of stock removal. Forging in the bevels is the best way, imo. Then you have to forge the spine to straighten the blade out and so begins the balancing act of forging a blade to shape. Great beginner vid! Forge a brick, then grind it to shape. I prefer a bit more metal manipulation and not so much stock removal.
    Forge On!!!

    Very nice. Just a shame the ricasso wasn't forged in deep enough for my taste for this pattern.

    Pretty obvious people are buying expensive knives to look at. Not to use.
