Hand Forging Feather Pattern Damascus Steel
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 лют 2020
- It's my first attempt of making a feather pattern damascus steel, started from 2 billets made of 3 types of steel: O2, K600, NC6, after few folding I added some NCV1(wood saw) steel between layers.
This project was the biggest challenge for me so far, feather pattern damascus steel is not easy, require decent amount of imagination and lots of hammering specialty with out power tools. This video showes hoewer that damascus steel mosaick pattern is possible to make eaven with out power hammer or forging press.
Thanks for watching :)

No fancy forge, forging press, power hammer, or CNC, yet one of the most beautiful pieces I've seen here. Thank you.
Hardwork, technique, precision equals perfection.
Thank you :)
You are one of the reasons I started. Good to see a fresh video of you again! What amazes me most is that you setup is still so minimal, I love it
I am glad to hear that :) Greetings
ended up with such a tiny billet of precious material! great job using only hand tools! yo sir have a lot of patience!
Major props to you for working that down by hand. Great job.
قال تعالى ( وأنزلنا الحديد فيه بأس شديد ومنافع للناس ) . ابداع واتقان في عمليه الطرق وتشكيل الحديد نتمنى لك مزيدا من الإبداع .
You my friend are the brave as hell welding tall stacks! Hats off!
How were you not recommended in my search for blacksmiths? Upper body strength like a gorilla. That's some impressive hammering I just witnessed, beats having to need power tools to accomplish the same goal.
This is beautiful! Thank you for the video
Really like that finished billet. Nice work!
oh wow, that is beautiful! I've never done anything else than simple laminated steel, it always seemed to be very much work to try mosaic or feather damascus by hand.
Amazing, as always! Glad to see another Pave video. Always inspiring
Thank You :)
Another Pave video, another smile. Amazing work as always.
Thank you :)
I missed you! Glad to have you back!
Very pretty! Nice work.
Interesting to watch and a fantastic result.
Greate job dude, I like the feather how It comes out!
Your video was amazing and the work also thought that you could not make damascus steel by hand, which was very difficult, but you can see it very easily, I want to try it, thanks from the city of Puebla in Mexico, many greetings.
Nice one! And cheers for the music.
That's awesome!
Quality forging, my dude! Just stumbled onto your channel. I feel like watching all your videos is what I'll be doing today.
Thank you :)
Awesomeness .thanx for sharing
Great video! Thank you!!
That's a lot of hammer time, but, really looks great
Man, such a nice pattern, I love it. would like to have a knife with this pattern.
That’s beautiful
Nice work, interesting how high you stack your billet. Would be interesting if it makes much difference if the stack were double the width by that hight... looking forward to do the same when my forge is set up :-)
You deserve more my friend, kee it up! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you :)
gorgeous 👌
This is absolutely beautiful for a first attempt! And great demonstration of what it takes to produce this pattern, nice job!
VERY well done video!
Thanks :)
Beautiful
That's pretty amazing, how long did the process take you overall?
Thank you, about 2 weeks
Uau! Parabéns....
Bad ass man ✊🏻
wow such beutifull 😅👍
IS BACK
This time after 3 month not half of the year :D
Lindo trabalho
I have the same cut stack step by step above my work bench. Lol and still rely on it more often than not for lack of brain in my head and inability to use what is .
Have a challenge for you. Make a 3 Steel Damascus using LC200N, Elmax, and M390.
the fact you did it by hand is really cool. All I ever see is the press or hammer doing these. What kind of time frame did it take you to do this. I have not tried forge welding to this point because it seems like you needed a press or hammer to do this.
About 10h of forging, I made it for 4 days every day new step, new folding.
incredible
perfect for a bird and trout?
It might be ok I guess
Big thnks for shemes.
outstanding... this is knife forging. not chopping from a saw pice
Świetne. Pozdro
Dziękuję :)
🔥🛠👍👍👍👍👍
You are very talented, ive bern trying to make damascus but the layers just wont stick, any tips? For example how do i know the rigth temperature
It's not easy to get any tips, temperature control is very important especially on the first forge welding. Sometimes the billet looks hot enough outside but inside temperature its still too low, I like to keep billet longer in the forge before first forging. Care must also be taken to not over heath the billet because steel will lose carbon, and some of them may even crack. Also the first hammering on the billet should be gentle after some time when you can see that everything looks good you can strike much harder. The best you can do it's just keep practise.
How heavy is your hammer?and great video btw it really helped show how to make feather Damascus
1.5 kg (3.3 pounds)
Pave Custom Knives thanks a lot!
Alguém do Brasil?
Since you're always using the side of your hammer to brush away debris, why don't you attach a brush to one side?
Lovet
two types of steel like bearings and tweezers can do it, huh?
Вам молотобоец нужен?

Thank you :)
Great content, just don't think in my opinion that trap music should ever mix with Forge work. Just Saying.
It's really hard to find any free music that suits these types of movies :/
its pattern-welded steel, not Damascus real woots Damascus is a single piece of metal that isn't folded the vanadium in the metal is what makes the pattern it still takes a lot of time to make this product and I'm not knocking on skill but we can't keep using the incorrect terms we don't call every shiny steel stainless steel.... pattern wielded steel was created in order to replicate the patterns of woots Damascus without having the access to the same ores the only real way to tell the difference is to look at the grain structure under a microscope
I think that most people know it but colloquially everyone is saying damascus steel on it and it is hard to change it now. The truth is that we can't reproduce a real historical Damascus steel, woots are closer to the original, but still it's not.
Not Damascus steel.
