I'm in VA and have wanted to partner with BPN for years, you are closer now! I have watched you evolve of the years and it's awesome. I am a 47 year old married (23 years) father of 5, work full time and have had a running channel for 9 years. I am a certified ultra running coach and love the running community.
I’m so thankful for BPN and your consistency sharing your personal, business and fitness journey. I’ve grown and learned so much over the last few years, being able to step out of my comfort zone and apply knowledge and experiences you’ve shared to my own life in work, fitness, parenting. Thanks for everything you and your team do!
Book recommendations mentioned: 1. Do hard things by Steve Magness 2. Trust by Henry Cloud 3. The hard things about hard things by Ben Horowitz 4. Show your work by Austin Kleon 5. Setting the table by Daniel Meyer 6. Extreme Ownership by Jock Willink and Leif Babin (Book recommended to be read first by Nick in this episode)
I went through a phase where I could only really do audiobooks...recently, I have found that I enjoy having a physical book I am reading. I now like having a book and a separate audiobook going. Book for bed time routine and audiobook for walks/travel. Anyone else shift their mindset on reading vs listening over time?
Same here, I’m all in to audible 🔥 there’s always time to listen a book, no one does 24/7 something so demanding that can’t squeeze 15min - 1 hour for a good book 💪🏽 Thanks for the recommendations, never heard of them but this one but another name. Do you mean show your work is some other book than steal like an artist? Found only that one from Audible.
Thank you for creating positive, and actionable content my dude! 6 months later: been through a lot of ups and downs. Listening to my mentor/friend a lot more now. Nick thank you for this advice man. I can’t afford audible right now, but I signed up for a library card. They have apps you can download audio books from. I’ve started listening to some of your recommendations. Started doing cardio, Started strength training again. Getting better for Me, My family, For those God puts in my path to be an example to.
well the reason why books come up to you all of a sudden on audible is because they listen to what you say and convos you have with people and then tries to sell you the books that are most probable to entice you
Very much enjoyed this episode , I draw a ton of inspiration from you and your consistency & dedication to your Athleticism etc and to what’s most important in life. Great advice here!❤thank you!
I wanna add my 2 cents, Idk what books are to be considered "Trash", but I feel like so many people who get into this mindset and live this lifestyle discredit and discount fiction. Read more fiction. Go read something Great.
Funny thing is when I go to work, shopping etc. I turn your podcast on, does that count 😂 in all seriousness, when is the “go one more” book releasing? That’d be one I’d read
Reading a book is sitting and reading a book. Listening to audiobook is listening to audiobook. There is no such thing as reading an audiobook. Say what you mean.
I’m 53 and continue to build my endurance stats. Each ‘project’ is harder than the last. This year, I’m looking at 100K in 24 hours at an ultra in May, and in July, a Direttissima of the White Mountains 48 4,000 footers, hopefully in 12 days. For perspective, it’s around 250 miles and 350,000’ of elevation gain, in a thru hike with no resupply…though I will indulge at the Huts or with trail magic along the way (how can you pass up the calories?).
