Nothing will improve your bloodwork/health like implementing routine cardiovascular training. I used to be 100% on the side of strength training, but ever since I picked up running six months ago, it's been a game-changer. You were the first guy I looked up to when I started going down this path given that you showed it could be possible to be fast and still carry around a lot of muscle.
Love this podcast! I have lost over 138lbs & I'm 4 months post op excess skin removal surgery. I have started hybrid training & I love it! My post op surgery is turning out amazing because of hybrid training. Can't wait to be completely healed to go ONE MORE with my hybrid training!💪🏽
As someone who just got back into fitness back in February, I'm now starting to implement the hybrid athlete style of training. Thank you for leading by example and being so inspirational...💯👊
I love this approach. Hybrid is the way to go. I’ve always thought of being caple both at strength and cardio can be so much help to not only your health but to others as well. I draw this inspiration directly from seeing how our troops train and work. You’re a notable figure in advocating for this type of training and have put it together so much better than many others to bring awareness to this. This training approach is so basic, yet very effective!
I'm starting my hybrid journey tomorrow. I'm 42 and my fitness has really taken a back seat the last couple years. Became a dad and moved job locations where I am way busier than I was previously. Too much drinking and not eating well. Can't sustain this.
I watched the episode with Mark Bell yesterday and got some motivation. I've followed him for a long time and watched his transformation from power lifter to runner. He is the reason I know of you from being on his podcast.
I still enjoy lifting, but being strong and big isn't a priority anymore. I want to be fit and agile, especially being "older" with young children.
Hope you're still training a lot.
Great detailed topic of discussion. It is an evolution!
Weird this video connected allot of dots for me on my hybrid style training I’ve done now for decades. I aim for performance and endurance goals biking/cardio to maximize my physique with nutritional needs. Started competing in Masters Mens Physique after I had an evolution of my own during pandemic training like an animal caged in my basement gym studio. Many of us adapted and improved ourselves during that time.
Keep up the amazing content and brining this style training to the forefront of the industry
PLEASE have natacha oceane on your podcast… I really think you guys would vibe!! You two are my two favorite health/fitness influencers.
Your wright about people doing this a long time but now its evolving. I did this 20 years ago but I never understood my food consumption. Seeing you and people like Cameron Hanes made me start again. Thanks.
Just wanted to say your incredible thanks for the videos bro!
Thank you for this amazing podcast!
Hi Nick, can you make a video with some examples of what your 20% of running consists of. I started your style of hybrid training about 2 months ago and I am not sure what to do with the 20% of running. I always disliked running because I thought it would be catabolic. I was afraid to lose muscle. I personally want to thank you for sharing your training with us. It really has changed the way I feel about fitness in general. Thanks!
Might be a little hard since Jeff lives in Toronto. But I would love to see Jeff Nipped come on the podcast! That would be a great episode
Hybrid athlete model for me, you change m'y mindset about my training, thanks from France
First, I love you work 👍🏻
Second, you do not have to train 3x *a day* to be a Crossfitter. I’m sorry that was your exposure to the sport. I’m a 43 year old mom & business owner who CFs like 3 days *a week* in conjunction with my long distance running.
Third, I agree about the pandemic & the rise in Ultra running. I was dabbling in running prior to 2020, but the pandemic kicked it into overdrive. It was my way to not only stay active & challenge myself, but it was one of the few ways to get out of the house. Consequently, I fell in love with nature again, too, being on the trails.
this was so good man, thank you.
Thank you, now I understand how it works and if I'm going in the right direction, tks
All creds to you Nick. However the question every athlete would want to ask is: what do you optimize your training for? E.g. I guess if you train for OCR then obviously cardio and calisthenics strength training would be for you. Observe weight room routines in T&F for middle distance pro runners vs long distance. Middle distance are extremely strong in weight room considered their body composition. They balance between power output and endurance.
For every day avg Joe athlete regardless type of sport it would be highly beneficial to incorporate strength/resistance training year out on daily basis.
Great journey Nick. Thank you for sharing your story.
You and Mark Bell are my inspiration for my hybrid running and work out
Same here! Take care
Very informative, tq
Reebok CrossFit games started it for me then I seen you envolve into a hybrid athlete
You coined a hell of a term with “hybrid athlete.”
❤❤❤amazing
I can consistently plan for one hour long training session a day…should I train both strength and endurance everyday or dedicate each day to strength or endurance only?
What cycle do you recommend?
Preaching to the choir!
Will there be a Hybird Athlete challenge in the future?
Hybrid training equals gains. Health and fitness
Please bring back apple pie whey protein powder. I really miss it in my morning oatmeal and anabolic muffins.
Is the great secret to have a perfect vascular system!
Man love your content watching it all. But that CrossFit plan sounds terrible. I’m a runner and love CrossFit. Just go in couple times a week for a fun WOD and mixing it up in different exercises and movements is just really good and fun. Also gives the knees a break! Don’t write it off with that crazy athlete plan you received!
This is very Huberman-esque LOL No shade.
It’s a shame that you allowed one bad coach to skew your view of CrossFit
You should have joined a gym and did 1 class 3-4 days per week
What you did is like trying to start bodybuilding by doing Ronnie Coleman’s program, you would hate bodybuilding if you did that
It’s to bad
Love your content and love your heart Nick
Keep it coming
Best thing you said today was the best program is the one you’ll do…movement in any way is good
The goal is movement daily
#goonemore
Cross training to hard to say or can you sell more with the term hybrid????? Jesus Christ.
You just need to Tren hard, and eat Clen, and you'll get results like Nick Bare.
178-185 lb weight class powerlifter here. Military guy as well. Went from lifting 1500 pound total to switching back to “hybrid” training. Feel incredible now at 30, just as good as I did when I was in late teens early twenties. Plan to keep this up and run ultras.
Appreciate you inspiring the culture.
