I love the friendships you have. What a blessing to have a friend come over and just help get the garden going and then hang out for hours through dinner and such. Such a gift. Hard as ever to find friends who “get it.”
Thank you. Your reply was timely for me. I purchased a drill auger to dig post holes for anchoring support posts for my raised beds. Your tip is very helpful.
@@daisygurl3601 the auger I purchased is an 8 inch, 40volt battery operated one. I am hiring a friend to handle ir for me. It weighs 70 lbs and is beyond my weight limit, but the 2 of us together can handle it. It has handle bars on two parallel sides. My friend is a geologist who has worked with some heavy equipment in the oil fields. A dear friend and a brilliant woman. We are helping each other.
Heather is such a sweet friend, and yes!!! It's amazing to have friends who love the garden as much as we do❤🤣🍅🍆☘️🌱🥕🥦🥬🌻the sunflowers are going to be gorgeous!
What a Great Friend you have- she is willing to help you in any way possible. Thank You to your Friend. Great Planting & great work to you all. Cheers Denise- Australia
Yes that cabbage is absolutley amazing! Oh Bri and all your helpers my gosh that garden is just rocking! Can not wait for the sunflowers what a wonderful idea!
I love your channel so much. It is just so refreshing how you lead your family, and others watching that are growing through struggles, to be positive, to find joy in the positive things that God has placed in your lives and continue on even in the face of adversity. You have a remarkable ministry through this channel! God bless you always!
I love sunflowers. One year I grew a whole role down my fence line and the deer ate every single one of them in one night. My heart of joy was broken. Your garden is amazing and you should be very proud!!!
Bri, you are so so lucky to a friend like Heather. You'll be life long friends, and if you have a hand full, you're one lucky girl. !! Made me miss my girlfriends. I live miles and states away.. Where I live I don't have any.. I hate it.
So fun to see all the kids enjoying themselves, eating straight from the garden, swinging in hammocks, sliding in the slippery dip, planting food and flowers. Everyone had a wonderful time. Zucchini bread is better than carrot cake, easy to make, grated Zucchini can be frozen too.
Squash plants can climb up a trellis for super easy harvesting. They look pretty on trellises at every stage, and it is amazing to see how well the plants hold their produce no matter how heavy it gets. My daughter weaves the vines as they grow up the trellis, so blossoms and eventually squash appear on both sides. She uses them as a decorative garden feature.
@@BrifromscratchI actually watched a video of a guy who trellised his zucchini by cutting off the leaves as the squash plant grew and he harvested the squash. He said it helped with squash bugs as well to get the plant up off the ground. I thought that was interesting.
Every year I wish I had a garden buddy. This year I did it alone again. But I enjoy it. And my husband helps with canning season. Which is a great help. I planted twice the food this year. And made 2 more smaller gardens. Even planted popcorn this year,
Your garden is looking so beautiful. You mentioned that y'all don't eat much okra, but you've also mentioned loving all the freeze dried snacks. So I wanted to offer a suggestion. I slice my okra into rounds and freeze dry, then I'll spritz the dry okra with a little oil and add seasoning of choice (I really like Cajun seasoning). It makes a nice tasty, crunchy snack!
Your smiles and excitement in your garden has inspired me to plant flowers, tomatoes and bell peppers this year in pots! Thank you Bri!! From Montgomery al ❤😂😊
I love using my auger! If you continue to run it going in and pulling it back out it will leave an empty hole and won't catch and tweak your wrist nearly as often. Your garden is looking absolutely amazing!
Bri, There is NOTHING more beautiful than the sweet aroma of Holy (Tulsi) Basil. It was when I was recovering from covid I got in Jan '21 and in the fall while planting the fall garden, that I realized I had my smell back. not even a.Rose.smells as sweet.
Awesome cabbages and broccoli! 👍 Very excited to see the summer garden flourish as well. Hope the rain came and you didn't have to water in the dark! 😁
I had to make my market rows wider so I could do the panels like that, but I also do the tunnel across two rows and I put brassicas under on either side of the walkway with beans and gourds on the trellis 😊 I find it amazing how quickly you have built that garden! You're doing great!
@Bri From Scratch Hi dear Bri. A great tip for planting plants, especially sweet potatoes, to increase the chances of the sweet potato cuttings succeeding in the soil, it is advisable to put them in a jar of water the day before planting, so that they absorb the water and the cells of the plant are full of water. According to my experience, there is no problem watering immediately after planting, even when it is very hot, on the contrary, it cools the soil around the plants and increases their chances of success. I live in a very hot area most of the year with a short winter and water is the key to success.
Broccoli leaves are delicious as cooked greens, don't throw them away you would be surprised how good they are, even de-stalked and cut up small and added to salads! My Grandma taught me that, because she grew up during the depression, but I am glad she did, because otherwise I would have missed out on this delicious green! Cooked with Bacon grease or butter, It to me taste like a cross between collard, cabbage, and broccoli!
Another happy, joyful and interesting video of happy kids and a gorgeous garden. What a blessing all of you are. You started my day on a beautiful and happy theme that will carry me through❤️ many blessings to all of you. I can’t wait for the next post…that you take such time and effort for our benefit is just amazing to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Hugs to all🤗🤗👍👍🙏🙏
Hi Bri, My husband drinks Tulsi tea for another reason - mouth ulcers. He's been on prescription medication for many years and these occasionally cause mouth ulcers. The tulsi tea can help heal and therefore shorten the life span of the ulcers.
I plant all my peppers and my tomatoes with an auger. Super quick. You better put two hands on that drill or you’re gonna twist your wrist. Oops looks like you found that out. Lol 🥰I plant my peppers deeper than you did yours. And I’ve never had an issue with them. Also, I have clay soil. With good compost on the top. There are tons of minerals in that clay soil. I also pinch them. Pinching the center stem creates more branches from the side. Also creating a much more sturdy branch like stem. Two years ago I had so many peppers I didn’t grow any last year. And I plant them deep and I pinch them. It’s been a successful method for me.
That cabbage is amazing ! Your whole garden looks great .. we live in Southeastern Ohio we are praying for rain also. For the last couple of days we have had the smoke from Canada . We still have flowers and squash to plant but we have had drs appointments
I plant basil and marigolds around my tomatoes, peppers, and okra to help ward off bugs. Plus I figure there is no such thing as to much basil. Pesto!! I freeze enough to get me through to the next summer. I have enough basil fans at school that I was bringing in grocery bags of it to friends last fall.
Bri, it all looks incredible! I knew you'd do amazing ❤ I have been gifted so many colours of sunflower seeds out of friends gardens , I'm so excited to plant them this year. Your sunflowers are going to be stunning🌻🌻🌻Thank you for sharing lovely ❤
Get bags of garden gypsum and spread on you beds....it helps break up clay soil.......do it this fall when winterizing the garden, along with tons and tons of leaves!!
Oh my !!! What an inspiration…. Loved this with your fab helper I’m going to do what you do when you do it - and it’ll make me feel more confident and as happy as you 😉💫
The garden is looking amazing Bri! That's exactly what I did yesterday before the storm came I pulled out plants that were dying and I added more composed and directly sowed some seeds and in another corner of the yard I put Boston Merrill, and some Dragon tongue green beans, some kajari melons. To add to already a plethora of plans thank goodness. And I thank God for the produce everyday. Cuz that's what I'm basically eating on The Daily
I need to plant another basil. I know we will use it. First year and it seems to be taking a long time for the plants take to come up. I guess gardening teaches patience. Your garden looks great Bri. What a blessing!
Sunflowers make me so happy. I think it’s awesome that you are sharing the joy with your neighborhood. ❤🌻

when using the drill auger put it in reverse to remove from dirt and you will have a clean hole
I did.🥰
Good morning BRI and ÀLL,. Excellent and EXCITING to garden with family and friends.

Crook neck squash and black beauty zucchini are bushy rather than growing on vines. But there are many types of vining squash for sure!

You can definitely plant those peppers a lot deeper. Here in Alberta, we have to pretty much. With the wind they would break if I didn’t.
