I don’t think they are keeping aquaman and flash actors. They are just trying to keep ticket sales up. Flash could be used to introduce a new universe- but not needed.
I don't know about you, but Gann's plans somehow didn't impress me. Yes, and it seems that I have already burned out a special interest in Dc. P.S: It's a pity that the heroes of the old universe have such an inglorious end, I can only hope that they will reset the universe where the Justice League 2017 canon and Snyderkat will exist somewhere in an alternative universe.
What a breath of fresh air to not have a bunch of JL films be the first slate. I never thought Gunn would do that anyway, but this does not disappoint.
Especially thrilled about Swamp Thing as someone who enjoys the Justice League Dark side of the DC. I was hoping for a Zatanna reveal too, but I understand that the universe has to be established to move on to more magical stuff, so I am not disappointed about it. I can't wait for this era to begin.
I hope it’s similar to the series. Despite its cancellation, it is the best live action DC series to date. Though Greg and John misspoke when they assumed it was canceled due to low viewership. It was cancelled because they went waaaay above budget to meet the director’s vision. And while it definitely paid off in writing and special effects, it got the show killed by executives.

He's starting in fifteen completely different directions and its so hype His sentiment on creative vision and storytelling was amazing and should set apart DC from Marvel I actually am excited to go see some of the upcoming DC projects (The Flash & Aquaman 2) now that we know there is some direction in where they're going with it.

It makes me so sad that more people don't love Superman and Lois. It's such a great show. Family, heart and good Superman action. Hoechlin is great as Clark/Supes. Everyone in the show is good for the most part. I say that to say I LOVE your reactions to show and Coy definitely should react/catch up for Season 3!!!
I was never dissapointed about the DCEU being rebooted. It always felt like there was something missing. I'm excited to see what James Gunn brings to the table.
I think this is a great mix of obscure and mainstream projects for chapter one. You've got heavy hitters in Superman, Batman, and Green Lanterns 2x but also characters to allow for more world building as well.
This is a packed slate! "Booster Gold" is tailor-made for James Gunn, I think that'll be a fantastic fit! The way he and Safran describe Superman as a man with "kindness in a world that thinks that kindness as old-fashioned" (THR) is so refreshing to hear, and Supergirl being the darker counterpart to Kal-El sounds fascinating. "Lanterns" is so exciting to hear because we've been sorely lacking in GL content, and Paradise Lost seems like something lots of people will get into as well. "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" can lead to SO many fun possibilities because it means that we're finally getting a DCU with THE BAT-FAMILY, something I've always wanted to see in live-action. We've had a few great "Swamp Thing" adaptations but I bet this'll be great too, and possibly lead to JL: Dark with Constantine, Zatanna, Deadman and co. down the line. Creature Commandos and The Authority are teams I know nothing about, but I didn't know anything about the Guardians of the Galaxy either and I think those are some of the best comic books movies ever made (part 2 especially), so I'm open to it. It's the "Waller" show that confuses me the most, because it's the thing that's the most overtly connected to the old "DCEU", making me question it canonicity in the new continuity. Overall though, this is a great slate (assuming they stick to it) and I can't wait to see these characters come to life!

@Johannes R You need to acknowledge that there is an overwhelmingly colossal network of audience who love and dig Zack Snyder's take on DC characters and storylines which is so awesomely unique unparalleled to what James Gunn, Joss Whedon, with Kevin Feige combined could not pull off in MCU. Avengers Infinity War and Endgame's storyline was inspired by Zack's Justice League saga whose storylines were leaked by that twerp, weasel Geoff Johns to Kevin Feige. It is WB old regime screwed Zack and kept tampering with his work that messed up the DCEU as a whole.
I’m genuinely intrigued by the slate and will be checking them out. One thing I do hope is that they don’t keep using Flash as a reset button every time things don’t go their way. So I wish the new era of DC the best of luck.
This new era is going to be creatively bankrupt just like Marvel Phase 4. This deserves to fail after they kept the child groomer instead of fan favorite actors/actresses.

The fact that the differences of style and genre that we have since aquaman will be kept is the thing that excite me the most ! But i'm affraid that people would not like it because you know....people doesn't like when it's different and bold....they want the same movie.
If they’re gonna portray Hal as the older jaded cop, I would love if they brought back Nathan Fillion to reprise the role. He’s gotten into such good shape for The Rookie, he could definitely have his comeback as Hal!
I don't know much about the comics (I really want to start to get into comics so maybe that's my goal of 2023) but I love that we just aren't getting Batman, superman, Wonder Woman tv/movies like we have for ages im glad we are getting different character & different stories that a lot of people haven't seen much of. Cannot wait to see these. Going to be fun
If you're looking to get into comics, a cheap and easy starting point is subscribing to DC Infinite or Marvel Unlimited. Ask fans for the best 'runs' on your favorite Marvel or DC character and chances are you'll then be able to find it on one of those two apps.
THe Authority is amazing. the fact that they are using images of the Authority from their original Image comics run makes me think they may be doing the movie based on those Image books. If you do not know the Authority is a group of superheroes who mirror the Justice League but while the League is reactive the Authority is Proactive. They do things like topple governments, enforce their own moral laws, and take out threats that may originate from anywhere before it becomes a problem for their earth. Most of the members are GOD level powerful! I'm so excited!
@@mattavery7581 possibly, I think they are just trying to diversify their IP’s in the same way Marvel did with a lot of their unknown IP’s (Guardians of the Galaxy, Moon Knight, and Ms Marvel) by bring on a relatively unknown group of characters means they have a (somewhat) blank slate when introducing them to the public. Characters like Superman, Batman, and wonder woman are already so well known that when they are introduced the writers/directors are locked into what the public expects for their characters.
I am so excited. I am a HUGE DC comic book fan (and huge Green Lantern fan). I love the Marvel movies but have been wanting a cohesive DC universe and a good Green Lantern live action. I really would love to get Blackest Night done in the future (and done well) it is my favorite book and and the art in it is fantastic.
Finn Wolfhard or the guy from Umbrella Academy as Damian Wayne? Brutal ideas. Don't ruin the movie before it even starts. Cast a young actor who’s at least somewhat athletic, someone who can make the character pop not just through acting, but by doing their own stunts-like Tom Holland as Spider-Man. (My top 2 below if the go young) #2 - Jacob Tremblay: He’s won far more legit acting awards than the others mentioned and has shown a real interest in stunts. Plus, he’s way more athletic than those two.Finn and Aidan Gallagher look awkward while just walking, I cannot imagine them doing a single move you'd see Damien Wayne do. #1 - Javon Walton is easily my number 1 choice right now - baring them finding a new talent: Known for Euphoria and Samaritan, he’s a legit trained professional boxer and gymnast, so if you're looking for someone who fits the role and can actually deliver physically, he is hands down the best choice.

I have a pretty good feeling that under James Gunn's guidance, any of these projects, quality-wise, could possibly be at least on par with his own Suicide Squad movie and Peacemaker, Doom Patrol and The Batman (not to mention Chris Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy).

Loving all of this and I'd like to suggest that you guys react to the Swamp Thing TV show. I think it was so well done with a good horror vibe and it introduced in live-action one of my favorite lower to mid-tier characters, which I don't wanna give away if you guys don't know the details, but I'll give you a hint that this guy used to be an actor/stuntman/SPFX guy before...something happens to him.
Dude, it's truly one of the best things from DC. If only they kept it going, we could've had a Justice League Dark connected TV show universe, similar to the Netflix marvel shows.

Wow this looks pretty good, could you imagine if their big bad villain is VANDAL SAVAGE?....hopefully they can work properly this time around and appropriately build a more fluid and logically connected universe and work their way up to doomsday clock, rann-thanagar war, brightest day/blacknest night, battle for the cowl, final crisis, convergence/zero hour, sinestro corps war, injustice, batman beyond, the judas contract, legion of super heroes, kingdom come...the possibilities are endless!!!
Vandal Savage would be the perfect counterpart to Kang the conqueror...both claim to have lived extremely long lifetimes, with high intellect and physical strength vandal is an immortal from the prehistoric era, kang is a time-traveler from the future that can easily revive himself as a variant despite dying multiple times...vandal even claims to once have been famous figures of history...alexander the great, julius caesar, genghis khan...similarly to he who remains version of kang claims to have been called many names...ruler(rama-tut), conqueror(kang), immortus, iron lad, victor timely, scarlet centurion; etc
Hope they do it different to Marvel by giving the main villains movies/ TV series like a new god movie that fully develops Darkseid, so when he turns up in a justice league movie we properly know him.
Midnighter and Apollo in a live action shared DC universe is something I NEVER would have believed. Also, I'm getting The Boys vibes from that Authority project. I think they're definitely aiming for that show's fanbase, even if obviously the story is very different.
Had to come back to this after watching Gunns conclusion to the Guardians trilogy. It was a masterpiece and great conclusion. So I’m really excited to see his slate of DC projects hit the screens

Yay a Batfamily movie where literally no one has had their origin story and skipping straight to Damien Wayne as Robin without even bothering with Dick Grayson or Jason Todd or Tim Drake or even bothering to introduce the league of shadows. Why not just skip straight to Batman Beyond too while we're at it? Just because we're don't need a Batman origin story doesn't mean we don't need to see origins for characters we've never even seen before.

It’s been told in comics, tv shows, animated movies (numerous times), their origins may be learnt and discussed retroactively, it’s a great starting point and will enable us to then enjoy solo films for them later. Majority of fans know the origins of all the Bat Family.

@Jack Paterson Live action movies are not actually a continuation of comics or animated shows. The MCU doesn't rely on comics and shows created prior to the MCU to fill in the blanks. The MCU provides all the details the audience needs to understand the story and the characters. Movies are also not an exact recreation of comics so just because you know an origin story in a comic does not mean it's exactly the same as the movie. All this does is guarantee that the audience for this will be strictly limited. You can't just have Damien Wayne or Night Wing or Red Hood show up fully formed and expect casual fans to care about them just because they existed in comics. This is exactly what people were criticising Justice League for. Introducing a bunch of characters we've never seen before and barely know anything about and expecting the audience to care based solely on their names.
@Jack Paterson this is exactly the same as the Hamada era we've just changed the names of who's I'm charge. We still have this mutliverse nonsense with multiple Batmen and Jokers and all the rest. Matt Reeves and Todd Phillips are essentially creating competing universes to Gunns and we are using pointless terms like multiverse or elseworlds to try to pretend it all connects. BTW Matt Reeves Batman is not elseworlds in the slightest. The whole point of elseworlds is you place familiar characters in unfamiliar situations (eg: Gotham by Gaslight or Red Son) The Batman is firmly rooted in the core Batman world there's nothing elseworlds about it.
What if James Gunn is waiting for ComicCon to come out with his second half of chapter one? I think that would be good and would be an interesting line up and live reaction to see :)

I am excited about this! I love it. My only minor complaint is the Batman thing, Damian Wayne is my least favorite Robin. I was waiting for this to be the time that everything starts from scratch with Dick Grayson, and we get to see him go from Robin to Nightwing. I don't think we'll ever see that in movies...
I agree, Damian is particularly uninteresting compared to Todd and Grayson, but it does allow for something new to be seen in Live Action. It also means the former Robin's are already Red Hood and NightWing, since they want to introduce the Bat-Family. I just hope it isn't the overplayed clueless parent and alienated child trying to get along story.

Yes, it's a bit disappointing to see the Snyderverse kinda die off. But people, especially especially lifelong DC fans have GOT to give Gunn and Saffran a chance!! Having a clear goal for the DCU while acknowledging Elseworlds projects?? YES! Prioritising animation and taking inspiration from the Burton DCAU?? YES!! There's so much room for potential and we all have got to give DC a shot at achieving it before shooting it down

He got a lot of crap for taking over the DCU. What he did with GotG, The Suicide Squad & Peacmaker was awesome! At first I didn't like the character Peacemaker that much in The Suicide Squad, but when I started watching the series, James Gunn made him a character with so many layers that it was refreshing! Now I love him and hope they have him in the future DCU!

@Johannes R You need to acknowledge that there is an overwhelmingly colossal network of audience who love and dig Zack Snyder's take on DC characters and storylines which is so awesomely unique unparalleled to what James Gunn, Joss Whedon, with Kevin Feige combined could not pull off in MCU. Avengers Infinity War and Endgame's storyline was inspired by Zack's Justice League saga whose storylines were leaked by that twerp, weasel Geoff Johns to Kevin Feige. It is WB old regime screwed Zack and kept tampering with his work that messed up the DCEU as a whole.
I’m genuinely intrigued by the slate and will be checking them out. One thing I do hope is that they don’t keep using Flash as a reset button every time things don’t go their way. So I wish the new era of DC the best of luck.
This new era is going to be creatively bankrupt just like Marvel Phase 4. This deserves to fail after they kept the child groomer instead of fan favorite actors/actresses.

If they’re gonna portray Hal as the older jaded cop, I would love if they brought back Nathan Fillion to reprise the role. He’s gotten into such good shape for The Rookie, he could definitely have his comeback as Hal!
I don't know much about the comics (I really want to start to get into comics so maybe that's my goal of 2023) but I love that we just aren't getting Batman, superman, Wonder Woman tv/movies like we have for ages im glad we are getting different character & different stories that a lot of people haven't seen much of. Cannot wait to see these. Going to be fun
If you're looking to get into comics, a cheap and easy starting point is subscribing to DC Infinite or Marvel Unlimited. Ask fans for the best 'runs' on your favorite Marvel or DC character and chances are you'll then be able to find it on one of those two apps.

THe Authority is amazing. the fact that they are using images of the Authority from their original Image comics run makes me think they may be doing the movie based on those Image books. If you do not know the Authority is a group of superheroes who mirror the Justice League but while the League is reactive the Authority is Proactive. They do things like topple governments, enforce their own moral laws, and take out threats that may originate from anywhere before it becomes a problem for their earth. Most of the members are GOD level powerful! I'm so excited!

@@mattavery7581 possibly, I think they are just trying to diversify their IP’s in the same way Marvel did with a lot of their unknown IP’s (Guardians of the Galaxy, Moon Knight, and Ms Marvel) by bring on a relatively unknown group of characters means they have a (somewhat) blank slate when introducing them to the public. Characters like Superman, Batman, and wonder woman are already so well known that when they are introduced the writers/directors are locked into what the public expects for their characters.

I am so excited. I am a HUGE DC comic book fan (and huge Green Lantern fan). I love the Marvel movies but have been wanting a cohesive DC universe and a good Green Lantern live action. I really would love to get Blackest Night done in the future (and done well) it is my favorite book and and the art in it is fantastic.
Finn Wolfhard or the guy from Umbrella Academy as Damian Wayne? Brutal ideas. Don't ruin the movie before it even starts. Cast a young actor who’s at least somewhat athletic, someone who can make the character pop not just through acting, but by doing their own stunts-like Tom Holland as Spider-Man. (My top 2 below if the go young)
#2 - Jacob Tremblay: He’s won far more legit acting awards than the others mentioned and has shown a real interest in stunts. Plus, he’s way more athletic than those two.Finn and Aidan Gallagher look awkward while just walking, I cannot imagine them doing a single move you'd see Damien Wayne do.
#1 - Javon Walton is easily my number 1 choice right now - baring them finding a new talent: Known for Euphoria and Samaritan, he’s a legit trained professional boxer and gymnast, so if you're looking for someone who fits the role and can actually deliver physically, he is hands down the best choice.

I have a pretty good feeling that under James Gunn's guidance, any of these projects, quality-wise, could possibly be at least on par with his own Suicide Squad movie and Peacemaker, Doom Patrol and The Batman (not to mention Chris Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy).

Loving all of this and I'd like to suggest that you guys react to the Swamp Thing TV show. I think it was so well done with a good horror vibe and it introduced in live-action one of my favorite lower to mid-tier characters, which I don't wanna give away if you guys don't know the details, but I'll give you a hint that this guy used to be an actor/stuntman/SPFX guy before...something happens to him.
Dude, it's truly one of the best things from DC. If only they kept it going, we could've had a Justice League Dark connected TV show universe, similar to the Netflix marvel shows.

Had to come back to this after watching Gunns conclusion to the Guardians trilogy. It was a masterpiece and great conclusion. So I’m really excited to see his slate of DC projects hit the screens

I’m so darn excited for Brave and the Bold. The fact it’s not a “Batman” title, makes me feel that this is going to be a really strong Bat Family film. Hopefully with a Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Red Robin.
Yay a Batfamily movie where literally no one has had their origin story and skipping straight to Damien Wayne as Robin without even bothering with Dick Grayson or Jason Todd or Tim Drake or even bothering to introduce the league of shadows. Why not just skip straight to Batman Beyond too while we're at it? Just because we're don't need a Batman origin story doesn't mean we don't need to see origins for characters we've never even seen before.

It’s been told in comics, tv shows, animated movies (numerous times), their origins may be learnt and discussed retroactively, it’s a great starting point and will enable us to then enjoy solo films for them later. Majority of fans know the origins of all the Bat Family.

@Jack Paterson Live action movies are not actually a continuation of comics or animated shows. The MCU doesn't rely on comics and shows created prior to the MCU to fill in the blanks. The MCU provides all the details the audience needs to understand the story and the characters. Movies are also not an exact recreation of comics so just because you know an origin story in a comic does not mean it's exactly the same as the movie. All this does is guarantee that the audience for this will be strictly limited. You can't just have Damien Wayne or Night Wing or Red Hood show up fully formed and expect casual fans to care about them just because they existed in comics. This is exactly what people were criticising Justice League for. Introducing a bunch of characters we've never seen before and barely know anything about and expecting the audience to care based solely on their names.
@Jack Paterson this is exactly the same as the Hamada era we've just changed the names of who's I'm charge. We still have this mutliverse nonsense with multiple Batmen and Jokers and all the rest. Matt Reeves and Todd Phillips are essentially creating competing universes to Gunns and we are using pointless terms like multiverse or elseworlds to try to pretend it all connects. BTW Matt Reeves Batman is not elseworlds in the slightest. The whole point of elseworlds is you place familiar characters in unfamiliar situations (eg: Gotham by Gaslight or Red Son) The Batman is firmly rooted in the core Batman world there's nothing elseworlds about it.
What if James Gunn is waiting for ComicCon to come out with his second half of chapter one? I think that would be good and would be an interesting line up and live reaction to see :)

I am excited about this! I love it. My only minor complaint is the Batman thing, Damian Wayne is my least favorite Robin. I was waiting for this to be the time that everything starts from scratch with Dick Grayson, and we get to see him go from Robin to Nightwing. I don't think we'll ever see that in movies...

I agree, Damian is particularly uninteresting compared to Todd and Grayson, but it does allow for something new to be seen in Live Action. It also means the former Robin's are already Red Hood and NightWing, since they want to introduce the Bat-Family.

Yes, it's a genuine shame we likely won't have the DC Trinity live-action actors back (Cavill, Affleck, Gadot). Yes, it's a bit disappointing to see the Snyderverse kinda die off.
But people, especially especially lifelong DC fans have GOT to give Gunn and Saffran a chance!! Having a clear goal for the DCU while acknowledging Elseworlds projects?? YES! Prioritising animation and taking inspiration from the Burton DCAU?? YES!! There's so much room for potential and we all have got to give DC a shot at achieving it before shooting it down
I really like this, for sure. Gunn has all good movies, all good movies, and good shows, so, I truly believe, that it’s extremely rare for Gunn to mess up, so, I trust the dude. This was cool🔥

He got a lot of crap for taking over the DCU. What he did with GotG, The Suicide Squad & Peacmaker was awesome! At first I didn't like the character Peacemaker that much in The Suicide Squad, but when I started watching the series, James Gunn made him a character with so many layers that it was refreshing! Now I love him and hope they have him in the future DCU!
