Here is more optimistic perspective on the situation. I was initially hesitant but I honestly think this is a pretty sick slate! I love that James Gunn goes out of his way to give massive credit to the comics that inspired his stories, something not many creatives do. He also has a nice balance of big-hitting well-knowns and unknowns who haven’t been adapted to death, are ripe with potential, and deserve more attention. Overall, James Gunn’s announced projects se pretty cool and I can't wait to see these characters come to life!
Luckily James Gunn himself said their planning to take inspiration for the DCU from The DCAU and Young Justice show. I am more than excited about James Gunn and Peter Safran's vision for the DCU and hopeful for the future of the DCU.
When WB first announced the DCEU, they did say they intended on making each movie different with different visions or genres... and it some did just that... until they were forced into one movie together and all too soon.
I'm glad that James Gunn is taking some inspiration from the cartoons and the movies. This is what should've been done in the beginning. Just started watching them recently. I really enjoyed JL: Crisis on Two Earths, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Flashpoint Paradox, & especially Under the Red Hood.
To what you are saying about screen writers coming in that don't know or understand much about the IP, that should learn about it - One of the best cases I know of this is that of Nicholas Meyer who wrote and directed Star Trek The Wrath of Khan. He admittedly was not a ST fan, knew very little about it and had barely watched a single episode. So when he was hired he sat and watched all 3 seasons of the show so he could understand everything and find inspiration for his story. By doing so not only did he understand the characters and what star Trek was actually about but he also found the episode space seed which featured Khan and inspired him to write the best of the star Trek movies.
About writers adapting IP they love, series like Arcane and The Cuphead Show are pretty good examples of series that aren't entirely accurate yet still get the core of the characters and world being adapting. The same goes for The Last of Us.
People cried about Michael Keaton (Mr. Mom) being cast as Batman. People cried about Heath Ledger (Brokeback Mountain) being cast as Joker. People cried about Affleck (Gigli) being cast as Batman. People cried about Pattinson (Twilight) being cast as Batman (some still do, cus even though they never saw any of those movies, they can't disconnect him from Twilight). While I can't say anything for certain, I have faith that Gunn and Safran will deliver us some quality content, and all these nay-sayers will either shut up, or flip their script and say "I always supported Gunn."
For Henry Cavil to exist and them to not use him to the fullest extent. The man is literally Superman. Are they fkn crazy! That situation only comes once in a lifetime, if that.

I hope James gunn brings back the animated shows for batman, Superman and Justice League unlimited. It would be great they stay true to the original series in terms of tone and the same style of animation.
I honestly don't understand people who support the so-called "Snydereverse" anymore. It's been long dead for many years now and people need to stop clinging to that terrible universe. Even if it continued, the direction in which it was going wasn't worth it.

Bc it’s success is contingent on its fans, and its fans are the most divided for any franchise
Idk man. I wasn’t very big on some of the controversial choices of Snyder like the BVS Martha stuff and the rushed feeling but I really enjoyed the Snyder cut of JL. I think Snyder really understand how to shoot action scenes and give them speed and power and his films have beautiful cinematography. I understand the criticisms but the postives are just there for me, and I feel like Snyder’s style would benefit from a much tighter script yk. Some really solid writing would definitely help imo. He’d make an awesome injustice movie imo bc of the darker tone and evil Superman stuff, but I see where y’all are coming from. They’ve got some toxic Snyder fans but I just love DC regardless of who’s helming the universe and I think James Gunn is a perfect fit.

The old DCEU definitely had some amazing highs, like WW, Shazam, THE Suicide Squad, Snyder’s Justice League, and others, but I completely understand DC/WB’s decision to restart. There is WAY too much inconsistency and controversy in their current universe, and as much as I hate to say goodbye to some of it, I’m so looking forward to the new take.

I honestly think Batman and Superman are just to big of heroes for DC to take a chance like the mcu did with the avengers because other studios owned the most popular marvel characters at that time. It was a blessing in disguise for the mcu and now Thor cap and Ironman along with Spider-Man and wolverine are on equal footing. Unfortunately it’s still Batman and Superman like it was 100 years ago 50 years ago and it’s the same now.
I gota disagree a little bit on the tone batman could fit into a light hearted tone or Superman in a darker tone hence the whole reason for the world's finest comics

Because he knew that child had powers lol. Spider-Man literally 1 v 2 Winter Solider and Falcon
Speaking of connected universes there's also the Arrowverse on The CW.
I still think they should’ve just burned it all to the ground and started completely fresh, but at least they’re torching a lot of it. I’m so ready to see DC done right outside of the animated IPs.
I love Film Theory.. Civil War would've been WAYY different if BvS wasn't coming out, GREAT POINT on not being set in stone on large storyline
I like the DC animated movies where we start from The Flashpoint Paradox/JL War and end with Apokolips War
Also the Tomorrowverse is interesting can't wait for Justice League: Warworld
We need Spider-Man: Into the Snyder-Verse!
It's strange that some people forget that Superman was alone fighting against multiple Kryptonians!! Killing Zod was the only choice he had because he had no kryptonite or Phantom Zone projector to imprison him. Seriously what was the alternative??? NO ONE HAS EVER CAME UP WITH A REALISTIC ALTERNATIVE FOR SUPERMAN STOPPING ZOD!!! So please stop complaining about him killing Zod!!!!
What does IP mean??
Civil War was a direct response to Batman V Superman being announced.
It was both. Fiege wanted a bigger scale film and Russo’s wanted to go against BvS
@@rl8259 Feige wanted to go against BvS. The entire reason for a so-called "bigger scale film". Batman and Superman are two of the most iconic characters in pop culture history.
How to save the DCEU..hire James Gunn...oh, they did that? Well, good
Can we have a last season of Young Justice ??
15:55
Honestly Infinity war is a disaster movie for me, they get messsssed up lmfao
Bro Forgot To Pickup The Anti-Ret@rd Pills💀
Man why all are framing Snyder...where BvS is taken from The Dark Knight Returns comics lol. Man firstly they are comparing it to Marvel and then thrashing DC.
Snyder is a great director and MOS, BvS, ZSJL was amazing. Earned more than The Suicide Squad. The Ayercut was related to the other movies. Any story can be rebooted. Why to remove the actors which have a special ❤️ in fans heart. In that case I agree with the MCU is good. They try to fix it instead of rebooting. Except Spiderman. Hamada was the cult and the previous WB officials not Snyder.
Snyder is a hack and is the reason DC failed

I honestly think Batman and Superman are just to big of heroes for DC to take a chance like the mcu did with the avengers because other studios owned the most popular marvel characters at that time. It was a blessing in disguise for the mcu and now Thor cap and Ironman along with Spider-Man and wolverine are on equal footing. Unfortunately it’s still Batman and Superman like it was 100 years ago 50 years ago and it’s the same now.
I gota disagree a little bit on the tone batman could fit into a light hearted tone or Superman in a darker tone hence the whole reason for the world's finest comics
