    About me:
    My name is Mark and I'm a middle aged (old) gamer doing let's plays of games I'm playing, some old and some new. I've found that recording and sharing game play video is fun, and makes the games I play even more enjoyable. This is a hobby for me with my goal to provide at least a few videos a week, as many as I have time for.

    ABOUT THIS GAME
    Mankind turned Earth into a dry wasteland and perished, but some species adapted and evolved. Pick one of the beaver factions and see how long your colony can last.
    Beaver societies
    Control one of two beaver factions: the nature-friendly Folktails or the industrious Iron Teeth. Each faction has a unique style, buildings, and gameplay traits. Choose what fits your playstyle!
    🔹 Wet and dry seasons
    Prepare your settlement for recurring droughts. Stockpile on food and keep fields and forests alive even after rivers dry up. Rely on both natural water sources and artificial irrigation to keep the land arable.
    🔹 River control
    Beavers of the future have millennia of experience in water engineering. Put up dams and floodgates, dig canals with explosives, and redirect rivers to bring life back to the wasteland. Just be careful with that dynamite.
    🔹 Lumberpunk
    Turn timber into sophisticated machinery - from water wheels and sawmills to engines and shredders. Wood is the core resource in Timberborn, but the most advanced structures require metal. To find it, send your scavengers to the ruins of the old world.
    🔹 Vertical architecture
    Create a thriving beaver settlement using a vertical architecture system. Space is limited, so stack lodges and workshops on top of each other, construct platforms and bridges, and set up a power grid for your growing population.
    🔹 Day and night cycle
    Build a multi-district city with efficient production chains and nighttime activities. Follow the lives of individually simulated inhabitants throughout their day and celebrate when the next generation is born!
    🔹Wellbeing
    An evolved beaver's lifestyle is not just "work, sleep and chomp on wood". Satisfy the needs of your rodents with a balanced diet, decorations, monuments, and more - on top of keeping the colony alive.
    🔹Map editor
    Play on one of the included maps or create your own and share it with the community! With hills of different heights, ruins scattered in the desert, and all life depending on access to water, each map poses a different challenge.

    Excited for a new series, I love that this map is a bit smaller. But turning off badtides takes away a bit of the motivation for building aqueducts I feel..

    Welcome back to the main channel! Been really enjoying the Planet Crafter series on the other channel, but seeing you and your casual disregard for the beavers' well being makes me very happy! I also hope you're being serious about Foundation, it's what brought me to your channel

    Rather than micromanaging them, you can usually leave farms prioritised for planting. (The exception would be in hard mode if you were expecting to lose hydration in which case you wouldn't want to waste time planting.)
    Speaking of hydration, if you use double floodgates or levees and dams to raise the level in the earlier part of the river you may find that more of the land becomes hydrated.
    Note that floodgates now move in increments of 0.05 meaning that even single floodgates can store 25% more water than dams.
    You can build an extra lodge on top of the first lodge but facing the other way. Or once you have the science you could just build double lodges facing the other way. (Two single lodges costs 20% more than a double lodge.)
    When you only have one construction project its priority makes no difference. (Your dam got built quickly because you had planned ahead to already have all the materials you needed.)
    You can use levees for the floor as well as the side of an aqueduct. (You can now place them on platforms.) Impermeable floors do save on vertical space of course.
    The agora is basically a renamed temple but you need haulers to haul extract to it. (And extract in the first place!) But the contemplation spot is just the shrine's new name.

    Re: oaks, I always start with 10 ish Birch and 20 ish pine, THEN the rest with oak. It reduces downtime because the birch get 3 harvests and the pine get 2 before the first oak matures, so that's roughly 75 logs more than you'd otherwise have.
    Depending on the map and constraints, I may swap them to oak after the oaks start maturing, but often I've found that they fill in gaps in the oak cycles, which is really useful for emergency projects

      What the heck is a sluice gate :) Is this an automated gate?

      @@Tolakram A sluice is what a dam uses to let water through. You can open or close it, or set auto parameters. Like "close when bad water contamination is above 0%" makes the game so much easier. It is uni directional though.

      @@Tolakram I just make a box around a water source. Put is some sluices for water. Set them to close at above 0% bad water. Bad water rises in the box, and floods out at the top. Make a channel off the side off a cliff, or out of the map. Easy as pie

      Ehhh, they still need planning for, but the sluice makes it _significantly_ easier to do so in the base game without having to install any mods (eg: like the SimpleFloodgateTriggers mod -- which does not yet support update 6).

    Tolakram, love the emphasis of placing building on dry land, but placing a farmhouse (2x3) six spaces away from the center on dry land and requiring six path (1x1s) is not a win. Same for other buildings.

      @@Tolakram it also seemed obvious to me, you can put the farm on the river with a path crossing the river in front of it to maximize range of planting, you might be able to cover that whole valley with one farm, and if you need two, you can put the second one facing the first.
