To maximise the use of the aqueduct, perhaps you could put platforms with paths over the water bit, and put some small warehouses/shrubs/medical beds… on the wall
I think the setting on the top is how you can regulate how fast the water pours in as well. You could set it to 1/2 full and during a drought a tower of water above will slowly drain. (Speaking hypothetically and not of Biffa's map.) Since water evaporates in this game based on surface area, storing it in depth is better than in width, so building a water tower is now much easier to do without flooding things.
If you had put platforms over the new waterway you could use it as the road to the new forestry area, the 3 by 3 ponds could be used for storage and the forester. That way you could use the roads left and right to the waterway to plant more trees.
17:52 What you could do to irrigate the tree farm at the top of your colony is use a Sluice gate set to both "water level below X" and "contamination below Y percentage".
6:54 Sluices can be put in at any level, you could build them at the bottom of a levee stack or the top and the function wouldn't change. 😅 Building at the bottom does give a better storage of water.
I've made upper and lower deck for exactly that purpose. Bad tides flow right underneath my actual reservoir of clean water cos I LOVE flooding the maps and making a Beavertopia in hard mode. Physics need not apply.🤭
You can make a elevator with one sluce at the bottom place as many tiles tall as you want . The trick to fill it is open and close it over and over was just able to fill a 10 tile tall water elevator
You use the metal platforms to build things underneath them. You can use regular platforms for over water, they do not displace water or anything. Much cheaper than 90 metal too.
this .... numbercruncher is first thing i build after getting first metal blocks, somewhere in single digit cycle. How he still hasnt got it even unlocked in 18th cycle is mindblowing to me. But yeah, this map is probably more forgiving on normal diff than on hard one where i play it
Started a new map with this update because I really wanted to build around the idea of skyscrapers. I built my tower block cities around a central water stack filled using sluices (to prevent bad water getting in) then used other sluices to allow water out to irrigate my floating farms. Built channels from every source block on the map and then made 6 smaller water stacks for bad water containment and transportation around the very outskirts of my skyscrapers. Super fun update. Thank you mechanistry!
Hi Biffa, put regular platforms on the canal you just dug. Then build your stackable log storage on it and just use the staircase to climb up. put your path on the platforms too and also your forester and your lumberjacks. It saves a whole lot of farmable space for you so you can have more trees.
The sluice gate finally allows you to build a tall water storage with an outlet at the bottom and it will auto maintain the exit water level to .5 The way to use it: build a tall 'lifting' tower over the water source with bad water sluice at bottom. This tower will raise water up to inlet of tall water reservoir. During bad tide, water will empty out of the lifting tower. You'll have a clean water supply to always have water in your farming area without a need to put in pumps from the lower reservoir.
That metal platform system over the lake of water is giving me Waterworld vibes 😂 we just need some homes for some pirate beavers and it’ll be perfect!
Aqueducts using overhangs and the new 3x3 metal platform minimize the footprint, no need for wooden platforms going all the way down. Proper bridged aqueduct
I just have to add: man! does the game look good now! Graphics and lighting are crisp, detailed, and clean, and the new animations help out immensely to create a beautiful setting. Very much enjoyed seeing you present the new update to us. Continue to have a nice one 👍
Hello there, Please double the Heigh of your mega super giga Dam. So the Water Level is same level like the Aqueduct. You can now easier build and control the new Water Canals and Aqueduct System and conquer more Mountains Plateues. Please use Wood Plattforms to add Ways on the Canals or build Warehouses on your Canals. Greeting from Germany
If you build an aqueduct over the mega damn reservoir, you could pack it with water wheels that way the water passes thru as many wheels on its way to be deposited into the reservoir. You could also build a similar badaquaduct and gain power thru those too. Lastly you can use the mechanical pumps to raise the water back up to the top.... That way you can ensure that your skytop colony/farmland never runs dry.
@22:20 the main channel didn't open because there was still a pocket of badwater next to it, so it had to flush by overflowing. Perhaps setting this one to open at 10% contamination would help.
17:10 the sluices still let a small amount of badwater through the clean water sluice, because the "close above contamination" level was set at 5%, meaning again it went through the good water side. You probs need to set that to 1% or at best 0% (if possible) so no badwater gets through
It's unlikely to be a problem, as it only hits those points at the start / end of a badwater season and only for a brief period; the amount of badwater they let through will be heavily diluted way lower than 5%, and likely to just stop existing due to evaporation.
The notes mention using impermeable floors for adqueducts, but I think they now allow you to have a subterranean tunnel network for the beavers all through your base, without interfering with the water flow. Only problem is it would require deconstructing everything above where you want the tunnel, blowing it up, building platforms there and putting in the impermeable floors if it intersected with a water pathway. So, maybe a thing to consider for new districts, but probably a bit too much effort to retrofit existing districts with it.
Using pumps to send the water back to the top is a great idea! The water in your big reservoir will be more than enough to keep your map evergreen. Also, those sluices are a game changer! We can now build huge towers to store water vertically and use sluices at different layers to let the water out. Though we'll probably need to build the tower on the side of the water source and use pumps to fill it up. This way we can avoid contaminating the water.
30:38 As you are always worried about water you can build a mini dam inside the big dam as high as the plateau which will bring the option to collect and store water near the center. This way you can totally get rid of the water collector far away and add another 5*5 platform there.
This update added just about everything the game was missing. Such an S tier update. You could put swimming pools in your forestry area, if you aren't gonna use the 3x3 space for storages or whatever else. That'd be a nice place to cool off long as the sound of beavers gnawing on trees isnt too upsetting. lol Just thought of this too, if you're feeling real ambitious you could make a rooftop pool now. Like a proper resort would have, with some overlooks to lounge at for a suntan. That'd be great.
I'm really enjoying this series! The new platform area over the "lake" is a nice place, perhaps too nice for just storage? Maybe have it as a new residential area? It would be closer to the big water pumps too.
Highly advise getting the super tall housing units. Its the most efficient spacewise and has the smallest footprint. I like plopping them all over just wherever they fit. They also work as power transfer up lots of levels.
Biffa, for the water reservoir platforms, I suggest building platforms on the water to prop up more of those metal platforms maybe a 3x4 grid of those things. Then you can unlock the ultra massive giga water storage and put them there so you will never ever worry about water ever and it will solve your problems of them having to run back and forth to fill the water storages. Another thing is you can also unlock the larger storage for the warehouses and put them in there if you add more platforms beside it. You can cover the entire reservoir and pretty much have everything there so you can reclaim all your wasted space in your island and start farming more food or plant more trees. You need to have atleast 3 or 4 metal factories and one engine and that would take care of it.
Don't forget to dynamite the water reservoir floor first if you want more water before putting in platforms. But actually, I think beavers can place dynamite directly under the platform so its a win win.
You can use sluices to automate water filling up the aqueduct system, closing above a downstream depth of say .8 or something. Then it will also help hold water in the system during the droughts or badtides
A crazy suggestion: since levee can be build over the platform, try to build leveled aqueduct for the water wheel. So what i imagine is at the botom level there's some water wheel and raise the level using platform and overhang platform and put water wheel on top so after the waterr flow down you can get another power generator, or maybe build the water wheel below the waterfall.
On your new plateau forestry area: 1. You should have the 3x3 set up to one side of the river path instead of centered. 2. Put a platform for a path over the water channel and platforms over the pool. 3. Put your forester on the platforms over the pool. Just with that you get a lot more tree area. Good seeing update 6 info. I am trying to decide if I'll start over on a new colony in 6 or update my current. I have so much built on the old physics including a huge pumping area for water filtering that is now not necessary.
lol you can use sluices to completely cover and seal off a water source and dispense water to whatever level you need via an aqueduct you can seal above and below the aqueduct forming a pipe
Just build triple platforms underneath the 5x5 metal platforms to rest on. This means you can cover the reservoir flat, and utilize the space much more simply and efficiently.
You should get a detailer, and put your B logo on your beavers tails! Also you should think about maybe putting a new district on that metal island over your main water hold. Make them their own district to reach further out in that direction.
Biffa, the numbercruncher is OP. You have one, works like 10 inventor huts and works 24/7, it need power though. Just one of them and you can unblock every single item very easily very fast.
Oh look! It's me again with unsolicited advice! That being said, let's go! It's really not very efficient, but I usualy put a water dump or two on the top part of this map to keep the starting area green. Also the watersource with 5 springs is really not efficient to water storage because of the low altitute, I like to build a water wheel sistem there to serve the whole map. There's a water spring close to the new area you irrigated on a higher altitude.
It might be a good idea to deepen the new 3x3 water way areas for additional water storage during droughts and bad tides. Just a super low priority so it eventually gets done
Biffa you should redesign your new industrial area with layers. Build your storage buildings under the structures that require them. And listen to the other comments about building on platforms over your tree farm aqueduct to reclaim more green space.
I been waiting for the next one. i mastered helix mountain now, have done for a while but im waiting for natural oaks to self seed which is taking forever. All of helix mountain all green and full of trees and berries again, all of the map is now green except some short badwater runs, made use of the sluices to divert the badwater straight done the mountain from the top cutting through the spiral layers stopping any badwater around the entire spiral. Everything is automatic now to the point i can leave it running all day and night with not one single click on anything. most of all the trees around the spiral i have managed to save native ones so i dont need loads of foresters and the grass stays green. They taken a very long time to grow back but it all looks amazing i have to say.
Just wait for the ladder mod, it’s to expansive but this is definitely the way to go if your doing no mod play through. my suggestion is just move the path to the side and add hangovers on the one sided side leave a spot for stairs. I’m also very happy that there are now official mods 🎉🎉🎉

Im sure its far too late at this point, but for proper irrigation do NOT forget that a 3x3 area irrigates far far more than a 1 wide trench. I use this strategy but usually with seperate 3x3 holes filled by Fluid Dumps during the temperate season and only during droughts if they are long enough to warrent a refill. That being said im sure with a natural sprawling irrigation system like you have setup the 3x3 holes will have no problems staying full, especially if you have a secondary reservoir next to the main source to act as a backup supply to replenish the irrigation system during long droughts.
Ok never mind you have that same setup on the new side of the canyon (wow that's odd to say regarding water irrigation). But do you also have the 3x3s here and there over on the main side? Remember, you are actually at the point in the game where it's 100% ok to think about and execute a total destruction and reworking of the colony at large.
The new plateau with the trees you could use your dynamite to blow up the far end that is one level up and make the level the same for the whole thing and then it will make it easier to get to that pile of metal.
Just use triple, double and single platforms to cover the reservoir, gotta be cheaper than all those metal blocks. and would have a huge area for storage.
They should add to the game something like a flood season, where the water sources produce say a x multiplier. this way its could create another issue as a flood zone. you could do it to both regular water and bad water
27:25 if you put a staircase up where the water canal ends, would a forester still reach the entire area? then you could place forester and storage up there, and with platforms across the canal for the pathway you will get a bit more use out of the newly irrigated area
before if we had to do 4+ blocks tall dams we could not drain the water from the blocks below the level of the triple floodgates, in maps with valleys it made it harder to store enough water for longer droughts now with the new block we can actually build those under the floodgate and finally drain the bottom levels IF we ever need it we can now build 10+ blocks tall dams with no problem, the true functional megadams
With the amount of science needed to unblock those new items, it's better to get a number cruncher, that thing produces 10x more than a scientist hut and only needs a single engine to operate
To maximise the use of the aqueduct, perhaps you could put platforms with paths over the water bit, and put some small warehouses/shrubs/medical beds… on the wall
Platforms + Impermeable Floors (now block water both ways) then paths. Pipes are possible now!
Easily the best update this game has had so far! It gives it a completely new way ofplaying around, loving it
I think the setting on the top is how you can regulate how fast the water pours in as well. You could set it to 1/2 full and during a drought a tower of water above will slowly drain. @@sofiadragon6520 I testet it yesterday an it's working perfectly.

For the most part. If it’s at the top it can only let out water if the water source is at the top.

But regular platforms don’t look like an alien beaver Bauhaus art installation.
Numbercrunchers paired with Engines are super overpowered and a very quick way to unlock everything
exactly, considering the shortage of beavers in the colony and the fact that all the new items need loads of science
But of course Biffa had to go with the hard way
this .... numbercruncher is first thing i build after getting first metal blocks, somewhere in single digit cycle. How he still hasnt got it even unlocked in 18th cycle is mindblowing to me. But yeah, this map is probably more forgiving on normal diff than on hard one where i play it
The new aquaduct looks cool, the pools in the tree area are great, looks like a secret swimming area in the forest
Use all that Dynamite to flatten the new tree area
remember you can pump water up from your big dam to stop the water level from dropping so much at the top.

I wonder if Biffa has seen Skye Storme and his monolithic size builds in timberborn
I drew so much inspiration from what he built in his games
I just have to add: man! does the game look good now! Graphics and lighting are crisp, detailed, and clean, and the new animations help out immensely to create a beautiful setting.

@@SalamanderBSC Yes, but still better to be safe
I think the beavers can still pump and drink the water when it is at that low concentration, so not an issue
You're playing a game I wish I could play. Enjoy building the colonies.
Most water-adverse beavers ever. 'Ave a nice one, mr Biff

I’d take the trees out by the water well, make the water intake larger. Hold more to help hold water level
You could give the larger food storage building a try. Its much more space efficient than the medium warehouse

@biffa on the new tree land you could use more land if you would build the buildings if possible on platforms over the water
the best update this game has ever done!
if your planting trees for wood, there is no reason to plant anything but oaks, unless you're desperate for a few logs as soon as possible, then you can (temporarily) plant birch.
im so happy with this update
Me too!
careful your starting to build a dystopian hive city...
note i love it.
Build an "aqueduct sky bridge" for your bad water. Just route it straight away from everything and dump it at the maps' edge.
Use the 3x3 pools for mangroves as they are 1 deep... maximise your space
How about an episode focused on improving your science input? It seems like you're still using just the basic building, seems to me like you could make that way better, and then unlock all the things after!
Im sure its far too late at this point, but for proper irrigation do NOT forget that a 3x3 area irrigates far far more than a 1 wide trench. So make sure to blow out a handful of 3x3 holes for water to collect, 2 deep if you really want but not necessary, and platform the hole and place your farms, gatherers, foresters and lumberjacks on top.

Saw the beaver, immediately thought "Poor Black Noir" :(
Imagine little canals you could use to transport items like those videos of watermelons going down a tight stream
The new plateau with the trees you could use your dynamite to blow up the far end that is one level up and make the level the same for the whole thing and then it will make it easier to get to that pile of metal.
Biffa casually avoiding killing his entire Beaver colony
I like to be humble about it 👍
🤣
Just use triple, double and single platforms to cover the reservoir, gotta be cheaper than all those metal blocks. and would have a huge area for storage.
5:12 Since when do beavers need hammers for trees? Their wood cutting tools are built in! LUL
Think big Biffa, think big. Housing should be high rise, as with storage.
They should add to the game something like a flood season, where the water sources produce say a x multiplier. this way its could create another issue as a flood zone. you could do it to both regular water and bad water
Green the whole map. Also build a storage skyscraper
Woah that update is gonna be insane lmao, can't wait to see what you do with it
You should add stairs at the end of the path in front of the new scientist huts
The Beaver with the hammer needed a hardhat on.
Make StorageTown a new district and just have an entire colony of them dedicated to transporting goods
Great idea 👍
27:25 if you put a staircase up where the water canal ends, would a forester still reach the entire area? then you could place forester and storage up there, and with platforms across the canal for the pathway you will get a bit more use out of the newly irrigated area
That floating construction kind of start to look like a spaceship.
Are you sure they are beavers, and not aliens in beaver clothing.
Needs more trees, proceeds to fill the green land with storage and doesn't build any lumberjack
I’m planning to make some kind of treehouse city with these update
you could plant dirt on the platforms and build a tree farm tower
Timberborn is in its Roman era
there used to be a ladder on the edge of the cliff going down to the farming area below, now there isn't. maybe you should think about replacing it
Looks great sir!
A full length movie eh? Made that after watching Spiff I bet. Getting those sweet sweet sleep watchers?
Had it planned for months, but spiffing b pushed me to release it 👍
Biffa...mate...solution to your over abundance of food!? MORE beavers....grin.
Thought those extended versions ran for 12 hours or something. Also I've already watched the movie. Over three days, funnily enough.
You could recover quite a bit of logs and planks if you clean up after removing or disassembling buildings and other infrastructure.
Use aqueduct and put power wheels in it to get power.
before if we had to do 4+ blocks tall dams we could not drain the water from the blocks below the level of the triple floodgates, in maps with valleys it made it harder to store enough water for longer droughts
now with the new block we can actually build those under the floodgate and finally drain the bottom levels IF we ever need it
we can now build 10+ blocks tall dams with no problem, the true functional megadams
Instead of running the path down the center of your platforms run them down the side to fit larger buildings
With the amount of science needed to unblock those new items, it's better to get a number cruncher, that thing produces 10x more than a scientist hut and only needs a single engine to operate
Oh wow! Steam mods AND aqueducts!? 🎉❤
Good Video Biffa 👍
It's going to take you forever to unlock the high end stuff if you don't get the numbercruncher.
