This company is single handily keeping old cars going and boy do they go!
Matt, without a doubt, the safety glasses stole the video.
Incredibly simple implementation. Brilliant. The modular potential is evident. Going to look up your stock.
This is over the top man!
What A motor!
THE WORLD NEEDS MORE INFO ON THIS MOTOR!
This "EV WEST" electric motors kit, is the best kit bar none. I haven't seen nor heard about another electric engine kit that comes with a full hookup for all your accessories, like the AC unit,Power steering pump, Power brakes, and after every unit have been installed you can barely hear the engine running when the engine has been engaged. Grady Tatum....
I know nothing about cars or how they work but this is a very good tutorial. A couple more and I can start building my car myself.
It is one of the best this guys of the EV West. I am a disable person on a wheelchair and I have a Merc Class R , 4Matic, and I think to use the EV West engines with all that accessories. What we can say; Awesome.
This is awesome! Nice build and answers a lot of questions I had.
good video. I liked the step by step introduction to the accessories plate. Good info.
Thanks.
Beautiful set up, it is just so clean. If you were running an open styled vehicle, say a VW rail buggy. You wouldn't need an A/C pump, so could you use that position on your mount for something else? Awesome video by the way.
You guys are doing some incredible work, keep it up!
Thank all the heavens for ev west! I cant wait for my swap!
Good video, great info and not long enough to snooze lol. I like what I see.
Well put together and constructed . Fine solution for the DIY car conversion
hi there how much is the twin motor SYSTEM DELIVERED TO SYDNEY AUSTRALIA. THANKS.
Sweet Matt, Excellent idea in a very nice looking and functional package.
thanks, good instructions, good video well done.
Wow nice design and cool explanations👌
Awsome video. You guys are really outstanding explanaing. Thanks
excelente vídeo, ya con ganas de iniciar la conversión de mis coches en Honduras
Great content for a novice, thank you
Nice. I can say that is full conversion.
fantastic peice of engineering. great work guys
Looks like a nice set up , what I can't understand is how would the power steering pump work when the motor is at lower rmps like when you're trying to park the vehicle. The AC compressor could continue to run while the car is at a standstill but you have to put the tranny in neutral and rev the motor up a little! 🤔
Great setup, okay I got dibs on that one!
beautiful stuff guys!
excellent job guys, well engineered
Great vid - more people are going to covert their cars to all electric. Good job.
I love your stuff. That single-motor-setup you present here, would that motorize a 70's Caprice as strong as a typical 350/350engine-Combo?
man i wish i could afford that set up...so nice!!!
Is its better to use separate electric motor for a/c.
I have had just finished the engine of the engine & I have seen the ad !!
Great video I really liked it easy to learn keep it up boys
Brilliant! Would have liked to see the actual mount location of the AC unit. Need to move the camera a bit. But great job!
Nice video and guidance thanks bro👌😀
Looks Smooth!
Good job and vary well explained.
That's my accessory plate!!! put it in a box & ship it over!!!
greetings, I want to ask how goes the engine and the whole kit and where I can buy it?
Hi is it available in south Africa and wich company .
Great vid, thanks.
A lot of you are correct this is a very nice setup it looks very nice but don't forget there is a massive amount of strain on that front bearing, you will be replacing that bearing in just a few years. I know this for a fact because I made the same setup with a warp 11 motor and the bearing started roaring within about two years. You're better off making those pumps electric and running them off of an alternator and 12-volt battery.
That's a slick setup for those accessories. I was wondering how one would tackle adding them in an EV setup. Having said that, they only work if the motor is spinning, and the motor only spins when the car is in motion/under throttle. So, if you're in a parking space and need to maneuver the vehicle, you have no power steering, AC or power brakes, because you're essentially at a stand-still. Once the vehicle is moving at any speed above 5 mph, power steering becomes moot anyway. Might it not be better to have a smaller accessory motor that constantly runs when the car is on to power these accessories, so they're available regardless of whether or not the vehicle is in motion?
That's why is now using electric power steering and not hydraulic power steering and today AC compressor is not driven by belt, then via small electric motor inside AC compressor. All hybrids today using small electric motor in AC compressor so that the AC can work when hybrid is switched to electric drive mode.
The idea is to use the electric motor as a direct replacement for a budget swap. Ideally you would want to use electric units but these mechanical options are very efficient and it doesn't require that much power to run these motors at low rpm with low torque requirements. Its a give and take kind of solution. There are electric options but this is quite a bit cheaper and won't hurt your range too much more than using electric accessories would.
You can hook these electric motors up to transmissions which then allows you to set a idle speed on the controller so the motor will idle like a car and run these when not moving
Great idea Superb Thanks.
una cosa es clara...
solo necesitamos la batería del "terminator " todo lo demás ya lo tenemos casi resuelto
That is great !! I was wondering about the standalone a/c units like in the Prius, would they be more efficient ?
That's some tasteful piece of design
This is beautiful...
Greetings, friend, first of all, thank you for your contribution. If the engine is going to have accessories attached, the engine at idle should be at 800 rpm, or when it is stopped, should it work at 800 rpm?
Good video!
Cool concept 🤓
You guys rock !
Good Video Mr, congrat's 👽
Awesome set up... nice a silent, and around how much to place that in my old 2003 toyota camry.
Hey, im planning to start an ev project next year, im looking for a setup that would be powerful enough to take it to the track. I was wondering what the cost of such a build would be?
How about buiding a QC pulse motor connected to a 48 v 10 s with 14 magnet Missouri wind and solar to charge the batteries with static and radiant energy?
This setup gives you powerstearing and so on, but onely when you drive. If not, what am I missing?
+Erik Blomdahl Push in clutch, engage motor.
I think if your mated to an automatic transmission, then the motor runs slowly on stop and would turn off completely once you shut off the car. My thoughts.
realy nice , i need one
That's a sweet system.
This mounts on the other side of the motor, not affecting the transmission mounting. It only adds about 2 inches of length to the front side of the motor.
After reading all the nitwits comments. It depends. This is a purely electric set up. There is no gasoline engine running it. I hear the comments about “ would not electric be better” this is electric! You don’t need AC compressor or power steering or vacuum pump while you’re sitting still you need your fan to blow through the evaporator to keep you cool. The electric motor that replaces the gasoline engine runs a belt that runs these accessories. Sitting still there is no need for this motor to run. Otherwise you would just be wasting battery power. Someone mentioned selling the RPM at 750. That is a waste of battery power. The second you put your foot on the Excelerator all these Accessories work as needed.
Thanks, that was first of all the videos I have watched where accessories were even mentioned? I know with today’s modern cars that this is something that shouldn’t be excluded in a conversion. You have a source of supply for these, or are you the supplier?
Would recommend blue loctite on all those bolts
Do you have any setups for front wheel drives with a automatic transmission
Hi Matt real nice part I would like to know if you make adapter plates to bolt to transmissions and a transfer case for a 4x4 set up.
What about the heating part in the winter, the kit you installed comes with all the parts and dose it install in the front or the back of the motor
Do you guys do hybrid conversions? I have an idea that I think has a strong potential that I will share. Think of 4wd pickups. They are all across the country and popular for great reasons, but not known for efficiency. I say, remove the v8 & put in a v6 with a 2wd style tranny. The rear wheels will stay gas powered. on the front axle, attach the electric motor, maybe with a multispeed transfer case. Use one of the ABS sensors to feed data to the electric motor control unit, so both ends spin at the same speed and maybe so the electric kicks in automatically is it senses loss of traction in the rear. Battery packs could be stuffed into the sides of the bed. I bet a lot of folks would get excited about that!
Brian Genter Toyota did that years ago with the Highlander hybrid. Honda did it with the NSX.
hi there looks like a fantastic set up how much is the kit with /2/motors with that set up.
Nice. The only thing I may add is lock tight to those 4 mount screws.
How much for that particular set for a Chrysler 300
That is awesome
It's nice that options are happening, but they are obviously imperfect. Electric assist power steering is one change I would make. I would also give up on aircon. For winter heat, I would get one of those instant hot water heaters from a home and have that in the dash. Those things are great.
+Brian Genter Push in clutch. engage motor
you got me hooked !!!! do you have a company website for the price listing for each assembly? and even regarding the solar main charging system keep up the great info and tech. great innovation
What a great clean retrofit tutorial, this is right up my ally and like to know more , Reading comments on what to expect when vehicle is in stationary position ,sometimes it’s necessary to at least have the power steering pump still operating to allow easy turning capabilities, with auto trans this could be achieved by setting the motor in an idle position , is this possible with the crank sensor configuration to adapt to the vehicles existing electronic modules or is the power train module obsolete once this motor is fitted ?, I guess this could be also achieved with manual transmission systems as well providing clutch is depressed just like a aspirated engine ,I think it would be a different feeling riding the clutch and having no stall effect , what laws do you think are implemented for this type of setup ?, i recon it could easily not be required for smaller vehicles with less steering force than compared to a SUV ,I’d be happy with that outcome and to be realistic this awesome retrofit is perfect for the small size car , less weight to pull around giving better mileage and bang for you electric buck !, look forward to any comments and how a possible auxiliary power steering pump could be the better option , hey what do the Vw and Audi vehicles do to overcome this power steering issue when their vehicles are set in MHD and turns engine off whilst stationary at lights , Am I looking into deep and most vehicles you can still turn the wheels with a little bit more effort ? DK from down under 👍
Alternator could be used to turn headlights and dash radio and buttons to keep 12v battery chraged?
You would have to have a manual transmission with this and set it to never drop below 750 rpm even at a stop (clutch in or neutral).
Is it normal for electric motors to have a shaft coming out the back for accessories or is that an extended shaft? shaft in the back for the trans to grab and shaft in the front for the accessory kit.
I bet this kit cuts your battery life in half. a simple 12v vacuum pump that comes on when you hit the brakes seems way more efficient. I could see a kit that has multiple alternators attached rigged for 120+ volts (there is someone who did it on youtube).
Hi a question, on this adapter you ca put also a alternator..right ?
The drag on the drive train caused by the alternator would be greater than the power produced by the alternator making it an inefficient waste.
Don't forget to add the alternator, and change the voltage regulator in it to match the battery voltage.
If you are not on the accelerator will the AC or power steering still work?
jesse ray as long as the motor is spinning they are working...so coasting, yes, accelerating/cruise, yes. At a stop you will lose AC and PS.
I would guess the tech sensor keeps the motor spinning at a low RPM like your gas engine does at idle.
The motor is always coupled to your gear box so if it's spinning the car is moving or something is broken... Unless you have an auto trans with a torque converter, these belt driven accessories are silly, IMO.
I had a 50/50 guess.
I would run a aux motor to run the accessories. The car's loaded w/ batteries anyway.
How are the A/C and Hydraulic steering pump and brake booster works on electric cars ???
HOLA BUEN DIA QUE PRECIO TIENE EL KIT COMPLETO PARA HACER LA CONVERSION DE UNA GRAND VOYAGER 1994 TRAE MOTOR 3.3 Y TRANSMISION AUTOMATICA Y LA TRANSMISION SEGUIRIA UTILIZANDOSE PARA LOS CAMBIOS Y LA REVERSA? ESTOY INTERESADO ESPERO RESPUESTA GRACIAS
فعلااا أنت فنان في هذا العمل ..
Where do you put your pump for the powerglide transmission? Can it be added to this plate?
instead of having ac or power steering. can you run a series of alternators to help charge your batteries?
"Yeah, you could... totally do that"
Komsing Phanthavong no. that's using a battery to charge your battery. there's too much loss, it wouldn't work efficiently, you would just lose mileage.
why couldn't you do that? Maybe have a separate system for the alternators to charge them using a solar panel then have the alternators charge the drive batteries? I think it could work.
I was thinking the same except i would use the alternators for audio use. In future i will convert my lada 2102 to electric and it doesent have any accesories except lights, heating and power brakes.
If you used a flywheel system to build up energy you could maybe balance out some of the losses
is there any way to set alternators instead all that to make more energy for the bateries?
Do separate electric motors for power steering and other pumps seriously affect battery?
hello where did i can get that motor and
some another part plz
hi guys, can we have an alternator on this system as well??? Just asking, I hope its not a stupid question. I'm only learning your system. Its the most amazing object I've every seen. Thanks guys
Could you use this method to attach the typical porsche alternator on top?
Excellent
Nice vid...well done....what happens to these external motors when the motor stops? Electric motors don't run like gas engines. The air conditioner would stop correct?
Hello, i'm very impres with what you guys are doing. I would like to know more about this. For example can you make a space to setup a 600 amps alternator?. And also if after making a full conversion Let's say I have to drive down the hill every day is there a way to reduce the speed without using the brakes in an excessive way. Let's say that I down shift to second gear, the electric motor will act in a similar way to the internal combustion motor? Is it posible to couple an electric motor to an automatic transmission? And how much money do i have to put in a complete project?
men, this is so Cul l love it.
What about the power brakes? Also, would like to know is when the vehicle stops and the motor stops how the steering pump, A/C units, and the vacuum continues to work? Thanks in advance.
What would be the best electric motor for a 2004 Chevy Silverado EXT Cab truck? I'd like to have something powerful enough to do everydy driving to and from class, work, day-to-day errands, but still be able to load up my truck with a 500 lb load and still be able to maintain interstate speeds. Is there anything available that has that capability?
Why not go to DC for much more torque and lower cost , a larger motor like a Warp 11 only $3,100 retail. Enough torque to move a full size pick-up truck and a couple tons of trailer. Add another $1,000 for a simple DC controller. and no transmission needed at all. so you can scrap or sell both the engine and transmission put the new motor under the cab where the transmission was and 1/2 the battery pack under the hood and 1/2 under the truck bed behind the cab, but, in front of the rear axle for good stability and handling...
yes if u millionaire lol
Faraday's law would indicate...that the energy it took to sprin that alternator *resistance follows energy draw" would be more than what the alternator produces. SO....maybe a tiny biodiesel generator could produce electricity to charge the battery bank..giving you a longer range. You could hook a few expensive solar panels to the vehicle in a aerodynamic fashion, aslo charging the banks. Regenerative Braking could also add to the vehicles range. These are all good ideas.
That's cool
I have an f350 U-Haul truck what size electric motor would that take and cost? what do you for heating in the winter??
Vacuum pump for the brakes works fine without the motor or engine running for a few full pumps. But AC and hydraulic Power steering are a different story. AC in an EV is typically the same as a typical refrigerator, with its own motor, or a solid state unit, which I understand the Japanese are working on, to make refrigerators smaller but would work in EVs. The Steering would have to be Electric. Either that or you rack is geared that you don't need boost anyway.
Can I use a warp 9 on a Chevy G20 van?
Nice setup. How do you run the wheels off that motor? Doesn't seem to be lots of room to hook-up a driveshaft or transmission.
on the other end of that same motor you would have a adaptor plate to mount to a transmission, or if you wanted a direct drive to the differential. but, I would suggest a manual trans myself. that way your motor could be set at a minimum idle speed so the belt driven accessories never lose power.
but just as some here have suggested, having a smaller second motor to run your accessories would probably be better. or just use electric accessories.
. What brand are those engines ?? I want to buy one for my fiat 600 ..
motor*
I have the same idia
