I also feel that you have the ability to move the project forward. I'll be waiting to see it work. good luck
I really like the idea because it bypasses the need for external engine mounts. The oil pan issue is legitimate and can probably be solved with rerouting the oil pump over the crank shaft bearings. I recommend replacing timing sprockets with motorcycle chain sprockets.

Guys don’t hate, we were all interested in his idea whether we agree if it works or not.. but to the builder, my advise is, if your planing on using this setup there are a lot of cons you may have to overcome before it’s a daily driver.. like you have now, I wouldn’t be as concerned about an oiling system because I don’t see you generating a lot of torque, grease will probably work in place of an oiling system, the belt is so long your gonna lose a lot of torque thru it.. basically if you want to use the engine block, and flywheel, you may have been better off stripping the engine down as you have, and placing your electric motor where your starter was and running it that way, your gonna get more torque there than any other location using this setup, but without starter, you may want to park it in a slight incline for easy take off
I remember back in the 60s and 70s when some people where removing the motors on VW bugs and made a mounting plate to install a C face DC aircraft engine starter motor to the transaxle, they removed the rear seat and put a bank of car batteries in. You might be able to see some information on them from old Mother Earth or popular mechanic mags from back then.

Mostly brilliant! Big pulley on motor and small pulley on crank seems like a torque reduction. I'm thinking of how those pulleys could/should be reversed. Big torque reduction means big increase in amperes. Shorter life of brushes. Blocking off oil feed to the head would allow retention of oil pump to lube mains, should this thing hold together!

This is definitely pretty primitive, no machining, there's going to a gear ratio increase from the camshaft sprocket/pulley to the crankshaft sprocket/pulley. theres going to be no lubrication for the crankshaft. accounting for the crankshaft and flywheel weight. there's going to be a serious amount of parasitic energy loss. I would be willing to bet that the electric motor won't be hardly able move the vehicle. but we will never know because the video ended before the project was finished. as far as I'm concerned it's a total fail. it would work much better to make a coupler. right to the input shaft of the transmission.
why wouldn't he just make the motor drive the transmission? whats the point on using a motor to drive a non-functional engine lol. put a custom gear assembly on the motor if needed and just slap it on the tranny.
Coming from mr music authorities. LOL stick to music. We're going to see the next video. And the motor and belt not taking the strain, cause it the higher rpm side or rather the torque comes from the gearing. Remember. 4 gear is 1 rotation to 1 rotation at about 30-40 mph. That not going to break it's acceptable. So 1 gear is like 3-4 to 1 rotation you can hand twist it to get the car moving. But this is a first, and of course it will have faults. That why the next attempt would be better. Talk it cheep.its about doing.
That what everybody doing he testing if playing with gearing he can use the engine manual transmission. If he can it be so much more fun and higher speed for a longer distance. It's a test and creating and learning
He only needs to form a channel underneath his top plate to channel the oil normally fed to the head back down through the cylinder to the oil pan. As one person said the advantage of not direct drive to the motor is the gear selection which is a big advantage if he drives up hills. 2500 watt motor is only about 4 hp. If he could find about a 20hp forklift motor from a 48v forklift he could probably obtain 35-45 mph on level ground. But he gets an A for ingenuity ! I like it!
There is a programme called "vintage voltage", you've probably seen it? Those guys really know their stuff but as brilliant as the end result may be their conversions cost around 50k. Not that I would have a clue but I'm pretty sure that a good starting point is to make sure the car you're converting isn't a heap?

In regard to the crank bearings , I’d say if the oil pump is driven directly from the crank as most engines are seal of the top of the block so oil doesn’t spray out fabrication of a oil filler cap or a removable plug or just fill from the dip stick tube job done crank is lubricated ,
cut down the connecting rods reinstall to seal up the oil, you would need to keep the oil system for any longevity. Or machine for roller bearings? Modify to accept a sealed bearing maybe hub assembly. have fun enjoy
@@amarjeetsingh-nw4gd, He could have simply tapped the upper oil passages, and installed threaded plugs. He could also install a lighter spring in the oil pump bypass passage, to limit the oil pressure to say; 10 psi, which would be adequate for this purpose ... thus, reducing the parasitic power drain from the electric motor.
im guessing the bearings should last a while as long as there is some type of lubrication between them. In an engine the power comes from the crank which causes more wear to the bearings. In this setup the power is coming from the "cam gear" where the electric motor is. So the crank is just gliding and not producing torque. I would think its similar to when you catch a rod knock so you disconnect the spark wire for the cylinder of the knock so that rod just glides on the crank. Im no expert tho. Just putting in my .02
@sirkentechnics7099 buddy, I think you should either watch again or learn the parts of an engine before you speak to me any further on this particular video. 🤣

Awesome job. Have you considered cutting a cradle into the engine block so that the motor sits down into it and than running straps over the top to steady it ?
That is solved they will have a boy sitting near the engine with an oil spray and every 15 minutes he drops a little oil. Don't worry, everything is already thought.(:
Not sure a cam belt would take the strain for long but like the idea. Would fabricating an adaptor to stick the flywheel direct onto the motor spindle be another option. I have a old rear wheel Ford pop with a bad engine and would love to dabble with EV.
Don't the front and back crank bearings need lubrication? It's a shame that block doesn't have sleeved cylinders, maybe they could be removed and the block could be hollowed out for various components?
Great going!, the use of a flywheel should help with power/torque, and maybe use grease on the crank instead of oil, use, or make grooved bearing's to hold the grease in maybe, just a thought.

Some times you got to work with what you got. At least this guy is working and trying to build something. Most of negative comments are from people sitting on their ass waiting for a check. As to oil on ground, bet his carbon footprint way smaller than yours.
With that gear ratio on the motor to crank you might wanna avoid the hills and make the few drives you have left count becouse with the oil coming from the top of the block there's no oil pressure to lubricate the crank bearing
Crank bearings get their oil from splashing in the oil pan. Oil pressure is used to get oil to the head. But you're right, the oil will come out of the pressure hole at the top of the block that would normally feed the head, lifters, and cam bearings. So much drag using the block. Easier to remove the block entirely. I don't get why this way was attempted other than it being easier to use the main crank pulley. LOL Just WOW.
It's a bad idea. You cannot expect this motor to drive the wheel with your design (timing belt wheel). Instead try couple the motor with the Clutch assembly or the fly wheel directly.
the way he did it is more of a simple way to do it . i like the idea of using the motor block for the electric motor mounting plate . no need to make any other mounting frame for the transmission or the flywheel to mount the clutch / pressure plate . i like the ability of the clutch. only thing is the majority of crank oil holes will need to be welded and the oil pump assembly put back in for the crank bearings and also a heavier drive belt system .

What i like here is zero fancy tools... hate diy and free make videos with zillions worth of tool. Messy welding like myself though, thumbs up! Concerning lubrication I would slap plate for oilpan with gasket and fill it to level of bearings. This myfriends, will run!
This way is actually pretty clever, the two downsides are the weight of the original motor and not having oil to lubricate the crankshaft bearings.

What a nice step I need full video of how to convert it from petrol engines to electric motors engine
I now know exactly how not to tackle such a project thanks to this.
Hahahahah! I just finished rebuilding a vehical! This was a haliarious comment! Awesome! Sounds like that person might have thought this would be a difficult task! Kind of weird, it's like going over these comments and meetings yet again from years ago! What's that say

this project will not run long, main journal bearing of the engine will be easily broken/worn beacause there is no oil running in it..
@@JMaster12 if they sealed the top of the deck off and maintained oil pump it could have a chance, but even then ify
In regard to the crank bearings , I’d say if the oil pump is driven directly from the crank as most engines are seal of the top of the block so oil doesn’t spray out fabrication of a oil filler cap or a removable plug or just fill from the dip stick tube job done crank is lubricated ,
I like you friend comet ferfect
This is awesome man,it's like a big version of a rc car
Que motor electrico usan, capacidad y voltaje
Good work and good music 1
cut down the connecting rods reinstall to seal up the oil, you would need to keep the oil system for any longevity. Or machine for roller bearings? Modify to accept a sealed bearing maybe hub assembly. have fun enjoy
Use clutch without. Engine block
Big companies need to come up with this kind solution to convert technology to typical cars to ev cars.
I get it but how long will the crank bearings last.
Exactly what i was going to say.
@@pinballrockstar I was going to say the same.
@Honda 250 well said...will have to block upper oil vents
@@amarjeetsingh-nw4gd,
He could have simply tapped the upper oil passages, and installed threaded plugs.
Just putting in my .02
Looks good but you should consider the oil bien on the soil that is very contaminated
I have to question the strength of ANY timing belt, because driving the valve train seems stressing enough.
He has removed the valves, no valves no piston cups
@sirkentechnics7099 buddy, I think you should either watch again or learn the parts of an engine before you speak to me any further on this particular video. 🤣
Very cool for your speed u can setup a simple blower motor resistor setup from a vehicle to control variable speeds
Interesting project. Issues with lubrication and torque problems between motor and crankshaft, under load, spring to mind. Perhaps different gear ratios? Would love to try something like this, myself.
Very good idea friend thank for idea

apparently it's a good idea but there are several disadvantages because the engine does not have access to power to drive the vehicle on a slope for example also the inconvenience of lubricating the engine block and the speed.
Eliminaria a correia
yep all that oil went straight into the earth. well done guys

In other words.. made in India
Great idea although some flaws are obvious to the trained eye, but it will work !!!!!
Y como lubricas los bearings del cigüeñal?🤔

Great hands on work with little tools to get the job done. subscribed /cheers ScrapBongo
Least by doing that way, you can still run all the auxiliary systems from the pulley, like the air con and alternator...
Thank brother very good
This timing belt used, cannot pull the load. Motor should be installed directly with the flying wheel
helps with weight as well.
correct

Awesome job. Have you considered cutting a cradle into the engine block so that the motor sits down into it and than running straps over the top to steady it ?
...ratchet straps........🤔🤣😂
Nice project 👍👍👍
Don't forget the oil pan. Crankshaft will stock up.
I am going to try this for sure.thanks
After few days old engine bearings will damage without oil... Please mention all details
You're right!

@@quevicular yup
That is solved they will have a boy sitting near the engine with an oil spray and every 15 minutes he drops a little oil. Don't worry, everything is already thought.(:
Not sure a cam belt would take the strain for long but like the idea. Would fabricating an adaptor to stick the flywheel direct onto the motor spindle be another option. I have a old rear wheel Ford pop with a bad engine and would love to dabble with EV.

Wow amazing idea brother. ... keep science up...u rock man
Don't the front and back crank bearings need lubrication?
It's a shame that block doesn't have sleeved cylinders, maybe they could be removed and the block could be hollowed out for various components?
Dont know if he put tha crank case and oil back into.if not in the first 20 minutes gonna be locked cause main bearings dry..waste of time..
I like that idea
nice idea if you keep the sump with some oil in it

Great going!, the use of a flywheel should help with power/torque, and maybe use grease on the crank instead of oil, use, or make grooved bearing's to hold the grease in maybe, just a thought.
Wow. That's a really heavy sheave mount you're keeping there.
Perfecto
@@garrykennedy5484 q1
Take the engine block gear box and bell housing out, to save weight and connect the electric motor straight on to the differential.
Without oil pressure in crankshaft bearings it wouldn't work for a long time...
Using a straight metal rod instead of a crankshaft and sealed ball bearings instead of oil-bathed flat bearings could extend its life considerably.
If the oil pump is in front cover drove by crank it will have oil pressure
Fantastic pl make the next part.
