    This is the most out of the box and least expensive conversion I have seen.

    good idea ... but you have to take into account several things such as lubrication of the crankshaft, the fact that the time band is not determined for that type of effort and the engine will keep you turning backwards, that causes the transmission to it is the other way around ... I also feel that you have the ability to move the project forward. I'll be waiting to see it work. good luck

    I've seen some shadetree shit in my day but this takes the cake! How are the main bearings going to get lubricated? Parasitic drag from trying to turn the heavy unbalanced crankshaft.

      The G-series are amazing little lumps. The one in my '89 Sidekick has been running with a cracked head since I got it in '09. I replaced the head with one that had narrower cracks (between the valves as usual!) back in '13 and have not missed a beat. I don't know of any other engine that will tolerate these conditions.

    I really like the idea because it bypasses the need for external engine mounts.
    The oil pan issue is legitimate and can probably be solved with rerouting the oil pump over the crank shaft bearings.
    I recommend replacing timing sprockets with motorcycle chain sprockets.

    Guys don’t hate, we were all interested in his idea whether we agree if it works or not.. but to the builder, my advise is, if your planing on using this setup there are a lot of cons you may have to overcome before it’s a daily driver.. like you have now, I wouldn’t be as concerned about an oiling system because I don’t see you generating a lot of torque, grease will probably work in place of an oiling system, the belt is so long your gonna lose a lot of torque thru it.. basically if you want to use the engine block, and flywheel, you may have been better off stripping the engine down as you have, and placing your electric motor where your starter was and running it that way, your gonna get more torque there than any other location using this setup, but without starter, you may want to park it in a slight incline for easy take off

    Mostly brilliant! Big pulley on motor and small pulley on crank seems like a torque reduction. I'm thinking of how those pulleys could/should be reversed. Big torque reduction means big increase in amperes. Shorter life of brushes. Blocking off oil feed to the head would allow retention of oil pump to lube mains, should this thing hold together!

    This is definitely pretty primitive, no machining, there's going to a gear ratio increase from the camshaft sprocket/pulley to the crankshaft sprocket/pulley. theres going to be no lubrication for the crankshaft. accounting for the crankshaft and flywheel weight. there's going to be a serious amount of parasitic energy loss. I would be willing to bet that the electric motor won't be hardly able move the vehicle. but we will never know because the video ended before the project was finished. as far as I'm concerned it's a total fail.
    it would work much better to make a coupler. right to the input shaft of the transmission.

    • @chrishayes5755
      @chrishayes5755 2 роки тому

      why wouldn't he just make the motor drive the transmission? whats the point on using a motor to drive a non-functional engine lol. put a custom gear assembly on the motor if needed and just slap it on the tranny.

    • @thomas4315
      @thomas4315 2 роки тому

      Coming from mr music authorities. LOL stick to music.
      We're going to see the next video.
      And the motor and belt not taking the strain, cause it the higher rpm side or rather the torque comes from the gearing. Remember. 4 gear is 1 rotation to 1 rotation at about 30-40 mph. That not going to break it's acceptable.
      So 1 gear is like 3-4 to 1 rotation you can hand twist it to get the car moving. But this is a first, and of course it will have faults. That why the next attempt would be better. Talk it cheep.its about doing.

    • @thomas4315
      @thomas4315 2 роки тому

      That what everybody doing he testing if playing with gearing he can use the engine manual transmission. If he can it be so much more fun and higher speed for a longer distance. It's a test and creating and learning

      He only needs to form a channel underneath his top plate to channel the oil normally fed to the head back down through the cylinder to the oil pan. As one person said the advantage of not direct drive to the motor is the gear selection which is a big advantage if he drives up hills. 2500 watt motor is only about 4 hp. If he could find about a 20hp forklift motor from a 48v forklift he could probably obtain 35-45 mph on level ground. But he gets an A for ingenuity ! I like it!

      Highly probable because rod bearings were disconnected, the oil pressure would be very low. Because the pressure would just bleed off from the holes provided for the rod bearings. Even if you had the oil pump running, and oil in the crankcase. You still have to change the oil occasionally.
      The motor needs to be connected directly to the transmission.

      im guessing the bearings should last a while as long as there is some type of lubrication between them. In an engine the power comes from the crank which causes more wear to the bearings. In this setup the power is coming from the "cam gear" where the electric motor is. So the crank is just gliding and not producing torque. I would think its similar to when you catch a rod knock so you disconnect the spark wire for the cylinder of the knock so that rod just glides on the crank. Im no expert tho. Just putting in my .02

    the electric motor is placed directly in the differential that allows more power to reach the wheels and have less weight since you do not use a clutch, the block and gearbox, you would have to open the gearbox and use only the differential, in a Rear wheel drive vehicle is simpler, I never saw such a bad conversion.

      ГРМ при заклинивании порвётся, тем самым предотвратит поломку других агрегатов, плюс гена будет питать систему, а так придётся шкиф движка менять, на более длинный и в ремонте будет меньше проблем, станина при том фактически готова и вес переда не изменился, тем самым не придётся подвеску менять, из за облегчения переда, в итоге при боковом ветре перед будет сносить. Поэтому данный вариант менее затратен.
