You would get different ranking if you have continued the test until the phone battery dies. Because usually at around 0-20% phones behaves very differently. Some will last for hours while some will drain more quickly.
Yeah I was disappointed he basically stopped halfway through. Then again I'm not the one who has to monitor them all day. Still.
Agreed.. i was like WTF when he suddelnly stopped halfway through, lol
Cosnits a biased test to show Ipoop as winner..check other tech channels test and x100 pro goes neck to neck with iPhone with half the price and better the still camera. . Even better then s24 ultra
what a stupid test, battery needs to be drained completely to understand the actual results as brands often manipulate the 100 t0 40 percent
But the charging time in iphones is ancient 😅 OnePlus, realme charge within 30 min which will be useful especially during traveling
We will test that out soon!
@@C4ETechwhy you need to test it out??? 100 wt vs 25 wt😂😂😂
My OnePlus 10r gets fully charged within 15min 160w charging speed.
*ANCIENT* 😂
Iphone noob...
Fairly accurate representation of what a casual day phone use looks like. The battery drops like crazy while gaming intense titles, but that is expexted. Not really surprised at the results either. They are all great one day phones for sure, with some lasting a few percent extra. Solid way to simulate the real world use as fairly as possible.
This is the test I was waiting for but unfortunately I can't take this seriously cause it was not done till 0%. First of all the percentage on phones with different mah capacities make this half test very unconclusively for real world use.
Second is the software/temperature management that tends to be imprecisely in the mid life of battery showing up real truth after the 10‰ left battery.
You have the phones, please do a conplete test. 🙏
You make a valid argument however I think the sole purpose of this guys test is to attempt to simulate what an average person may experience in any given day. For this purpose I think his test is arguably very valid indeed. I do not remember the last time my phones battery ran out completely! So doing a 100% - 0% is immaterial to me, and I'd bet likewise for millions of other phone users. This video is a job very well done 👍
i agree!
Not exactly a fair test Ash. As you know smartphone makers tune the charge percentages a bit different and are not uniformly indicated. For example, Oneplus phones drain way too fast from 20% to 1-2% and stay there a while.
So instead of stopping them midway, you should have let them drain completely. I know that takes way too much time for shooting and editing but I feel like that would have been a truer drain test.
Agreed. Also, older phones are automatically at disadvantage because batteries degrade over time. These tests will never be accurate, unless you unbox brand new devices and test them with fresh set of batteries (or test battery degradion and account for it).
How's the red magic lose that with a 6500mh battery? What is it doing with all those electrons?
It has second chip which also consume battery. Do ppl not know this? Redmagic started since redmagic 7. They implemented second chip called red core
thanks but why not till 0% ?, was hoping the Oneplus 12 would have been better maybe with future updates it will improve as its likely my next phone surprised with the Redmagic 9 Pro thats poor for having 6500mah, Xiaomi 14 pro seemed to do well considering its battery
Same, I'm hoping to buy the one plus 12.
You can easily abstract what would be with a full drain by adjusting each test. For example the iPhone would have 22% battery left versus the S23U which is enough time for 10 hours of browsing!
umm maybe because u can estimate it and he doesn't have so much time ??
nah you cant estimate. These phones may calculate battery left differently. Iphones are famous for moving really slow from 100 to 95 as you saw in this vid and samsungs often drain from 10 to 0 very quickly. Also there are way too many variables. He mentioned some phones didnt complete the wildlife test, they were all on full volume and not on equal volume, gps, auto brightness, etc. these tests could be imprioved further@@keerthan7558
@@anish.a4409you do realise that 6500 mah is 20% more battery and it lasted 16% more than the one plus
Appreciate for keeping things short and realistic. One suggestion i have is to include gps navigation ,everyone needs it at some time and it would suck if you can't use gps because ur phone drains too much battery .
noted bro
(That's not normal, there might be some app that's draining ur battery, check in settings. Or u may have installed a corrupt or malicious . s23 ultra should get u around 7 to 8hrs SOT even in worst case scenario without battery saver options.)
samsung is very wierd hope for s24u get their act together with ai
samsung train battery fast in light games and youtube i remember iphone 13 pro max and rogphone 5 had lost 6% in one hour youtube back then@@C4ETech
Agreed. Gps navigation battery test is very crucial.
Honestly, this is not a good test. Firstly, different manufacturers report percentage in different ways based on voltage, so you should at least drain them down to 0%. Secondly, older devices are automatically at disadvatage here, because of battery degradion. To be more fair, you'd need to test the current battery health and take that into account as well (AccuBattery can give you a rough estimate).
Exactly! You've said it all.
For this test to be accurate a few things have to be taken into consideration... The most important ones are that all the phones should be new and the battery drain should be monitored via their voltages rather than the reported battery percentage which varies by manufacturers.
Redmagic desperately needs to optimize their device, it should be a clear winner in this segment
Yes Ash please use cellular data while testing battery because not everyone has wifi at home and i have not seen any drain test with cellular data use, that would be much practical test for the devices running 5g😊
So he have to buy 8 sim cards? Come on guy's say something that make sense 😅
@@TheKorwaty lmao he is running a channel, he absolutely can do it, it's not like costly accessory, also he might 4 devices near to him or friends which have dual sim, and what is non-sense in this, he said in video for suggestion please tell me in comments, also he said i like to try it as normal use would use it, to be so fair cellular data must be included in battery drain test, it will also reduce the SOT by 1-1.5 hours
@@TheKorwaty also most of them are having e-sim support, he dont have to buy sim cards
@@kiranjansari9081 I'm going to order some chicken nuggets, do you want some ? 😅
It's not like this...
i used to run a UA-cam channel before and it's really frustrating me when some fans think that it's easy to make everything, guy's you have no idea how complicated it is, and how much time it needs to prepare everything 🤦🏻🤦🏻 it's really very hard, i wish you realize how hard this job it is, specially when you work alone without teamwork.
8 sim cards kept active? not realistic mate! maybe in India sure, but not at UAE sim card prices...
The crash and over heating seems odd. I own the Red Magic 9pro. Did you have the cooling fan on high or max?
WOW. I was waiting exactly for this. Great job 👍👍👍
Very nice! I have waited so long for a battery test of the Oneplus12 and Realme GT5 Pro. But next time please let the phones drain until 0%, because some phones have thier strengh in the lower percentages.
Glad that you are back to making videos!!!
S23 ultra with one ui 5.1 was best for battery. Hoping one ui 6.1 will make some difference
It didn't. Battery is still great. 10% with me is equal to 1h. I get 8h sot over 2 days and 10+h sot in one day. That's perfect!
They doing this bcoz of s24 ultra launch
Awesome test! If you have a chance could you test all of those while having the location on like using the navigation and have 3-4 apps running as well. If you can include the One plus 11 as well, it would be perfect. Thank you in advance, it is very important for me and all the people that use a phone as navigation and delivery apps.
Interesting! Thanks for the video
Another great video.. keep them coming 🎉
The charging test should finish until all phones die, it's not correct to rank phones based on a test that is not taking the phones to 0% battery from 100%... So, if you do a battery drain test next time, please do a full battery test from 100% to 0%... You work very hard and bring exclusive content, especially for the Indian Subcontinent... Go ahead, carry on... Best wishes & Thank you....😌🤟
It will make some phones look very bad as Samsung die twice as fast as iPhones when below 10%, so people will complain that it favours iPhones. This represents an average user's day as very few of us use for 10+ hours. Extrapolate the metrics if you want to get a 100-0% figure.
Does this mean the snapdragon gen3 is not that energy effecient, or does it mean there is no good optimization? Was expecting more battery life from new chipset.
Looks like good battery life to me. It'll get you through a full day of heavy use as long as you don't plan to play demanding games. Casual games would be fine though. Everyone charges their phone when they go to bed, so as long as it gets you until then, it shouldn't matter
Early results have been disappointing elsewhere too.
Hey. How long Battery stay with realme gt 5 pro 100-0 procent with game video all time?
Great test! Thank you
Thanks a lot man for this
I own an s23 Ultra and I always use dark mode.. I am really a fan of the quad HD display but like I said in dark mode I literally don't feel a difference between 1080p and quad HD so I guess if you put in 1080p and there is something as simple try to put the performance profile in light which has never affected any performance in my usage not even starters or nothing I have never felt that I am doing something to limit but it would improve the battery life
Thank you you do it !
Also these battery indicators aren't accurate isn't it? I mean some keep on showing higher numbers at the beginning and drain suddenly while others drain faster and hold up better in the end.
So not quite sure how they would've ranked if it would've been drained to a zero.
Kudos for the effort though.
Great battery Drains test as always Ash bro
I was very surprised with the iphone winning, but I expected the redmagic pro to drain itself really hard on extreme-extreme games since its probably internally killing itself with the loads of processes that it does.
Why were you surprised? iPhones are consistently winning battery test since iPhone 13
@@kingdelledroghe1957because of low resolution display
Can you make another video to include / update with a test for the very sought after find x7 ultra to compare pls?
You should've included compact phones too like Xiaomi 14 and S23!
Very nice test. Thanks a lot for showing us this.
Please check about temperature with thermogun next time..tks
I would have to say Ash you make the best and most informative videos. I give you 2 thumbs up. Well done keep up your excellent work. Thanks for all your hard work. 👍👍
This is much better than just playing videos on loop till they die.
One change i can suggest or a question : was the S23 Ultra a new phone or the one from the time it launched? I feel that could affect the battery performance. (not a fan boy of any brands)
Same thing I'm curious about
My S23U is up and down with battery life. After every update, it gets bad, then next, better. So it may be a combo of battery health (as Samsung refuses to show health as they are worried people will get upset that it drops) and a bad update.
Hey I Got A Question!
Last Year With The Chip "SD 8GEN 2" We Got More Than 8 Hours Screen On Time"SoT" With (5000 mAh) In The Flagships.
This Year With The Same Chip We Got OnePlus 12r With (5500 mAh) Is It Possible For Us To Cross The 10 Hours "SoT" Mark With New Gen Phones?
Thanks for the video!
You make me starting from now, to pay attention at Realme GT5 Pro, show itself very stable on a daily use!
Thanks a lot bro 😊
Damn didnt expected iPhone to improve their battery management to that level
I know its a lot of work, but a better test would be to compare phones till they die. We cant trust what the % sign says and ive noticed that some phones show less battery drain up untill say 20% and then quick fall off from that.
Very informative and helpful❤
It would've been more accurate if you do all those tests using Cellular 5G data instead of WiFi & 5G drains a lot of battery.
You videos are amazing keep do more test like this ash 👍🏻👍🏻😀
What’s the point of the test if user didn’t learn how long any of these phones lasts?
Pethaps you should have compared it with Mah drop overall from start to end instead of regular % as each battery size is way different from phone to pho e
There are only one battery in each phone, so it is more than fair to judge the normal experience we users will see. But I get it is interesting to see how much the phone consumes. You can calculate the approximate consumption if you really want to, since we know the battery capacity.
Why did you upload half a video? Wheres the rest of the test?
2:09 I laughed too loud at that Xiaomi xD
The way he pulls USB cable kills me.
Very good. I like this style of battery test. Well done. I enjoyed this video. (Xiaomi 14 pro)
Why not completely drain then
Nice video bruh! 👍
I was looking for this video,,thank u,, love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
All phones in this test have great battery life 🎉
Nice one!
Will that realme be released in the uk?
Timestamp has mentioned ideal drain instead of idle drain 😅😂
Drain it till the end please, would be interesting to see how fast they drop beyond 10%, and it would give us a complete picture. No scope for companies to manipulate the percentages
GJ i waiting too long for this video
Add iphone plus variant and music playing for hour or two in bluetooth for next test
Good video keep making like this
@C4etech please include battery details before starting❤
It would be great to add a section in theses tests where you test how each phone handles 5g/4g connectivity , some phones tend to have good battery life on wifi but fares very poorly on 5g/4g , the pixel 8 I believe is the biggest example , I had this phone and was getting good battery life on wifi but on cellular data I was getting about 3.5 hours max of sot doing nothing really intensive just using social media apps and web browsing, I think this test will have a completely different result using cellular data especially regarding the iphone as Qualcomm's modems generally tends to be more efficient
a review Meizu 20 pro and Meizu 21 what do you think about these brand
You are the best dude keep up the good work
Hi Ash, these batteries will degrade with time right, so the newer ones will have more life and 6 month or 1 year old phones will have more drain in comparison.
depends how often he has been using them or been put away after reviewing ? dont think reviewers stick to using single phone for extended time
We need more comparision types pf video😊
Bro what is you on... 🤯 Banger after banger, might as well take the crown in some time for the most content rich tech youtuber. Also, kudos on having such a wide array of flagships and bringing that flagship term in play, can you please make a video on performance comparison including flagships and flagship killers?
Much appreciated and much love. ❤🔥
Great work Ash. One word Awesome 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Please continue these type of videos in future.
Im surprised with Realme GT5 Pro. Although Realme GT series are decent, but i think Realme is getting Real serious with its GT lineup going forward 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Great job ❤
U didnt turn on the fan for the red magic.
Complete the test, in the end anything is possible. 😄
Good work Ash ... Always quality content 💯👍😁
Thank you so much 😃
Can't wait for the Ultimte speed and benchmark test! I'd love it if u could use the same brand for the most part tho. Too keep ut as fair as possible. Like Xiaomi 14 pro vs 13 pro vs 13T pro vs Vivo X100 pro vs Poco X6 pro vs S24 Ultra SD vs S24 Ultra Exynos vs Pixel 8 pro vs Iphone 15 pro max. Itd be nice, rly.
S23 ultra kept the fight with now 10 months old already. Great job sammy
My guess is 3d mark is not optimized for 8 gen 3
I want to buy iqoo 12 Pro but it's not available on official site so can i buy it from you???
I would consider realms gt5 pro winner as it takes less than 30 mins to charge but the iPhone takes 2 hours
waiting for your iqoo 9 and 9 pro review!
where is the charging test?
S23 Ultra is now almost a year old and if it's a used phone definitely the battery would degrade
iPhone having the smallest battery and always wins means beast optimization ..
Redmagic having the largest battery with all the bells and whistles in vapour chambering and huge fans and still not doing that much better than a Xiaomi at 4860mah is startling....
And S23 Ultra still being right up there after such a long time is super great 👍
No lower resolution, and iphone runs often on 80 Hz iOS efficiency🤣
@@vit23745stop posting nonsense
Please make such more videos❤
good video. but if you drain all the batteries, that would also great
why pixel is not here?
Put a Sim And On 5G internet and Also On GPS then Check in 40-50% Brightness
getting a 5g sim for 8 phones is not a possibiliity bro
Pretty disappointed to see all of the phones that increased their battery capacity still fare kind of poorly , especially the Red Magic.
Pixel 8 pro?
Future tests should be done on 5g as most of the people hardly get to use wifi due to work or travel.
What's not a battery drain test some devices when getting to 5 or even 1 percent battery can last longer
No SIM in the phones makes the test severely inaccurate. Or at least include a test with cellular activity
HAT'S OFF.......BRO..... THAT'S HOW A TECH UA-camR DOES .......AGAIN HATSOFF 🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝🙏🙏🙏🙏
Please review NUBIA Z60 and Z60 ULTRA ❤😊
Wow most 8gen 3 smartphones are adding 5400mah battery. Is it gonna become mainstream?
The differences are interesting, but to have relevancy to rank battery life that users might encounter, cell phones need to be tested using cellular data.
Most realistics and genuine battery drain test video ever❤
batteries don't drop linearly in all phones
I was hoping the Vivo would win! It was doing great until the camera recording!
can you please include rog 8 in future battery test
The Actual Fair testing would be using 5g and Please do a Google maps test and Uber/ola/Rapido test . Coz thats what drains battery more fyi. Thats a fair lifestyle test would be.
Btw it wouldve been good to see until 0% and as well a display 1080p set test cuz some here has qhd and some has 1080p so it would be logical to have everythijg in 1080p!
Plenty of tests on YT show that using 1080p makes zero difference in battery life as it would still be a native QHD display. I am surprised people still believe this. A native 1080p display would be 10% better than a native QHD if everything else was equal. Check out MKBHD, who did this test, and PhoenArena.
As for going to 0%, simple maths should allow you to extrapolate the figures by going through the same apps again.
@@andyH_England qhd pushing 500ppi consumes more cpu power and battery compared to fhd with 400-420ppi...and everyone using the qhd phones fave around 5-8 percent of battery difference with fhd including me with my s22 and s23 ultras
@@sibianandh1382 There is about 6% difference between the iPhone and QHD displays in battery draw, yet the QHD all had at least 15% larger batteries so even with that stat, the iPhone would beat the S23U by >20% so that is a poor excuse.
@@andyH_Englandyou can’t extrapolate because phones lose their battery percents not uniformly, some tend to do that quicker after passing 50%, and almost everyone overreports on 100% battery, the first percent stays the longest.
Whats the point of doing battery drain test if you dont kill the battery to 0%? How can you be so sure the end result will be similar to these ranking, when there is only 3% difference between 5 devices :3
Try Showing battery drop in absolute numbers of mAH after every round. Only % doesnt make sense here as each ones battery has different capacity.
I would consider a phone of 5800mAH dropping 20% poor than a 4250mAH dropping 30. Plus conaidering the adapter wattage. On top of it if a phone with 4250mAH has a high watt adapter, that would really win the overall situation here..
Thabks for the hardwork, btw.
That's right, this test is useless.
Surely that is easy to do yourself. Just exercise your brain rather than expecting him to do everything for you. The data is there.
@@andyH_England Take it easy pal..It's not for you.
I'm not a full time you tuber with 2M subscribers getting phones from brands for review.
