Being burried alive has to be one of the scariest experiences in human history, I'm sort of a person who has a fear of tight spaces but being buried alive is generally one of the scariest things ever.
sorry, I wasn't in a position to really provide any info at that moment, I probably should have waited until later, heh... from what I can see, it was never directly related to working at a graveyard, but more from the dawn of the industrial revolution, where 24 hour shifts started to become a thing, but places would be "quiet as a graveyard" on the night shift.
I understand the mother. You obviously are lost and angry after the death of a loved one. She might not have been right but she probably truly believe she was.
Some poor woman has ended up in the morgue several times because of a sleeping disorder she has that makes her appear to be dead. Both times she was just lucky enough to wake up before they gave her an autopsy or shipped her off to the funeral home. So it may be more unlikely to be buried alive these days, but it’s not impossible to be declared dead when you’re not.
There was also a case in Russia in 2011 where a woman had a heart attack and was pronounced dead, only to suddenly wake up in a coffin at her own funeral a couple days later. And the saddest thing is, from the extreme shock of waking up to this she immediately suffered another heart attack and actually died
The buried baby case in China could be even more disturbing if the lack of evidence for the parents is that they really didn't know about their newborn child being buried alive like that. I doubt that's what happened but imagine being new parents and you find out Your mother buried her new born grandchild alive like that.
They 'lacked evidence' but still felt like arresting people. Chinese justice system, letting animal abusers free, suppressing people's free will, and arresting random relatives instead of the parents because they thought that was the logical decision for lacking evidence
Until now I didn't really think about being buried alive. Now that I've seen this I can confirm the idea is one of the most horrifying visualizations I can put in my head. I like the fact you made edits to simulate the idea, really helps show just how grim the potential experience is.
It’s especially horrifying when you think about how your family would think you are dead, and go through the pain of loss and there’s nothing you can do about it
To make the whole thing worse: if you are buried alive and wake up, your mouth would probably be sawn shut, you would have caps in your eyes to keep them close, and all your orifices would be closed. This is how they typically prepare a dead body for the funeral. Imagine the horror.
The story about the baby absolutely broke me! Not only do I have 4 daughters (all grown now) but my oldest 23 year old daughter just brought my first grandbaby into the world only 5 months ago and he's brought sooo much light back into my world. I couldn't ever have imagined doing something so horrendous to my own girls nor would I ever, ever allow something like that to be done to my grandson. If one of my girls ever decided they didn't want to or couldn't care for my grandchildren (which wouldn't happen), they know full well I would take my grandbabies in and raise them in a heartbeat, without question. Heck, I already care for my grandson everyday during the week while my daughter works! Shame on that poor baby's family for doing what they did to him or standing by and allowing it just because he had a medical abnormality; not to mention one that can even be fixed! As a grandparent I'd be asking questions immediately if I haven't seen my grandbaby in a day or two! Humanity disgusts me more and more as time goes on. That poor innocent baby! It's so good to know he was rescued and is alive and well these days!
I can relate to you. Well, to your daughter (technically). I just had my son. He just turned 4 months! I can't even imagine. I cried while watching them draw blood from him while he was in the NICU (it's a way worse process than I ever thought). My mom is a lot like you, ha. She loves my son, and I know I can depend on her for anything. If she got silence from me for more than a day, she would definitely start calling me and making sure we're okay. Also, congratulations to your family! I hope your daughter's recovery and life post partum have gone very well and that your grandbaby is healthy and happy. Babies are some of the most beautiful things in the world.
This sort of empathy is essential, actually instinctual, to combat the modern day propositions of eugenics, like finding out the baby in its last term has down's syndrome and killing it, and the possibility that post-birth abortions may become normalized in the US. Pro-choice people say they don’t happen. They do happen. If you pull up the records they will than say it is rare. Yeah, not rare enough. Even if it is relatively rare it is still a growing practice. We are beginning to emulate the Chinese by essentially putting babies in medical waste bins instead of dumpsters.
There is a castle not terribly far from where I live. In the 18th century, the 23-year old son of the noble family who lived there died of plague and was buried in the family crypt. Several days later when the crypt was opened for a routine cleanup, they found his body lying next to the exit of the crypt with his hands chewed off. This obviously indicated that he was unfortunately buried alive. After this, his brother took a serious interest in medicine, especially the study of clinical death. He even opened a hospice in the village under the castle. This video reminded me of that story.
Alice has the be the unluckiest woman ever, like the fact that happened not just once but TWICE? Also hearing how she basically ripped through her own skin from the pure desperation of wanting to live. Ugh, I hate it. I can’t even actually wrap my brain around how terrible that must have been.
I love how you mention opting for cremation if you really fear being buried alive. I’ve always said donate all my useful organs, probably not my kidney 🍻. And scatter me in my dad’s land in Mexico. There, I’ll live forever with the orange trees.
If she had been embalmed, she was certainly dead going into the tomb. You do not survive embalming if you happen to be alive for some reason beforehand.
You should cover the story of the Woman who was locked up in a room for 2 decades by her brothers in Afghanistan, there's a video of people rescuing her and she's crying saying her brothers will kill her if she comes out.
There was another case of a woman buried alive in Brazil that ended up in her being rescued, the woman had sort of link with drug trafficking and supposedly lost some drugs that two men gave her, these two men beat her, took her to a local cemetery and put her inside an vertical grave popularly called "drawer", then they cemented the opening of the drawer and let her there. Then some time after that, gravekeepers heard someone asking for help, broke the wall sealing the grave and called the emergency.
Underground is well insulated from the cold, so the warmth of the body could be a result of that. Also the position being different, the injuries, the cotton out of her nose, could all be a result of mishandling of the burial process or a result of the frantic pulling of the coffin out of the ground (rocking the coffin around too much when lowering it into the grave for example). So I don't think the mother is lying I just think she is confused and upset. A very tragic situation for everyone.
Been here since 200k subs and I never miss an upload! Despite how much time has passed, you still hold up as being my #1 favorite channel. Growing up with your videos has been such an adventure. Looking forward to what you make next! Stay awesome dude.
Now, I actually dont doubt she could have survived without food and water for 11 days. The record is 18 days by an austrian man locked in a prison holding cell in a basement. He did have fresh air, but no food or water. But 11 days without air? Yeah, no.
The majority of cases where people were mistakenly alive occurred before modern techniques for monitoring vital signs were developed. Angela died in a hospital under the care of doctors with access to modern medical devices for monitoring vital signs, so I find it difficult to believe that they made a mistake. Sadly, however, these mistakes do still happen in places without access to such devices or in communities were proper medical care is beyond their means due to poverty. This does still happen in modern times, we just don't usually hear about it because it happens in poor, isolated communities in countries were poverty is endemic.
What i can say about it is the way our deceased are buried here in Brazil is that usually they are not "buried", I.e. dirt isn't put in the hole. They just build that cement structure that keep the smell away, and that's all. That's what makes this whole story somewhat believable because oxygen could easily enter into that grave. But yeah, too many details don't add up to make it fully believable. But great video as always! Ps: I would love to watch a video of yours about the Goiânia's Cesium-137 radioactive disaster!
ScareThestre the type of guy to be like “don’t worry guys the awful thing you think happened didn’t happen… but here are some horrendous cases of the awful thing happening”

So this is funny cause I’m Brazilian and I thought you were about to tell the case that happened in Brazil this year. On 28th March of this year a 36 old woman was found burried alive in Visconde do Rio Branco in Brazil. She was found alive and severely injured, but survived since she was only stuck for some hours. You can read the case further in G1 Globo too.
People being buried alive by accident or falling in so-called "clinical death" isn't too uncommon, this is the very reason why there's tradition of not burying the deceased for three days, and people watching over the coffin\body for three days in case they wake up. It's just that these days most of us aren't dying from natural death anymore, it's either violent death, illness or result of some self-destruction (alcoholism, drug abuse, etc)
While other "creepy" channels are still trying to milk old dead boring stories (petscop in 2023 lol), you're managing to stay in touch and cover very interesting stuff from around the world. Props to you my guy.
When you pronounced the name of the city I thought it was somewhere like Mexico, only when I heard they speaking I realized immediately that it was in Brazil. Her nails were loose because the body was buried for ELEVEN DAYS when that happened the body was decomposing not as expected but enough for that (it was very cold on those days). The police said that there was no hurt hands or wrists as alleged. All the people involved in the removal of the body are already answering a legal process for violation of a grave as you theorized. Thanks for precisely reporting the facts and not like many retelling the urban legend.
When I die, I want my organs to be donated and when the medical professionals have harvested what they can, cremate whatever is left. Not because I'm a good guy or anything but because I don't want to risk exactly this to happen.
Still better, after awhile the flaming heat burns your nerves off so you don’t feel it anymore. Whereas if you’re burried alive, you’re stuck down there for days. In the dark. With little to no wiggle room to move around. Hungry, thirsty, and also you will have so much time to think about how you’re going to die and no one’s coming to help you. That is infinitely more terrifying than burning for a couple minutes
As somebody who’s slightly claustrophobe due to being well above average height and having a bit of a difficult time day to day as a result, this is probably the peak of that fear, especially given how nightmarishly and borderline impossible it would be to get back out. You’re basically guaranteed to end up actually belonging in that coffin if other people don’t know you’re still alive and rescue you
This happened in the state of Bahia and the people involved will respond for violating a grave, which can be a 3 year sentence in prison in Brazil. I can understand that they weren't acting in bad faith but rather out of concern... but that doesn't change the fact that they still illegaly exhumed a body. May this lady rest in peace.
the baby story is so insane? it reminds me of (usually) young mothers in japan abandoning their babies in rentable coin lockers. it even has a vocaloid song about it, “coin locker baby”
i can't even wear clothes that don't have substantial stretchiness or looseness to them because i am so claustrophobic...being buried alive is absolutely my worst, number one, absolute fear.
Adding to the comments from the people in the video when the man says the body is smelling bad, the lady that can be heard says "ta mole, mole", which means the body was soft, with no muscle tone. Also in her death certificate, you can see she died from septic shock, which would be easy to identify by medical professionals, especially if she was in hospital for some time.
very interesting video! although it did happen in history and even recently in modern times, premature burial definitely didn't happen by accident as much as people think it did even before advances in embalming and medicine. i was interested to learn that before there was a higher understanding of how decomposition works, sometimes natural activity of the body due to decomposition was seen as evidence that the person had been alive and trying to get out of the coffin, which resulted in many false claims of premature burial in the past.
Had to work up my courage for this, as I thought you were going back to your "Here are some tapes of serial killers" phase. Glad I was wrong and good job.
ive been watching u since 2016!!! i was 8 on my grandmas ipad lmaooo - now im 15 and still love ur videos!! ty for always posting and staying consistent :))
The maximum a human being has gone without food and water is apparently 18 days. Some kid who got arrested in Europe and they just simply forgot about him. Sounds sketchy but I swear look it up
This came to my mind too. The actual amount of water you lose and need to replace varies for everyone depending on their environment, and being deep underground and potentially unconscious seems to be among the better situations to be in if you don't have any water.
As someone who's highly claustrophobic I wouldn't want to experience on what it's like to be buried alive..I'd be in a huge panic attack if that ever happened to me..
8:42 "this didn't turn out to be true, but stuff like this happened before....in the 1700's" dude, I'm from Brazil I just googled this case because I never heard about this and found a link from the same site (G1) showing a case of a lady who was actually buried alive by drug dealers in may this year. also, don't worry about people going to jail for defiling a grave. This is Brazil.
He did mention that in today's world, people do get buried alive, but it's done on purpose by murderers, as opposed to it being done by mistake when someone seems dead but isn't.
im just observing but i think she is not BURIED UNDERGROUND, its a different kind of tomb where they just put coffin inside and sealed it properly. just like how some cemetery in the philippines
I agree with you. Definitely mass hysteria. It does sometimes happen, but not here. Everyone's remarking the coffin smells of death, and yeah the uncensored footage is online and you can clearly see she's not alive or posed differently, she's decomposed and still in the 'funeral' position with one hand over the other. I think people just wanted it to be true. It's so hard to lose someone. To have them back, even under these horrific circumstances, would be a miracle. Anyone would want to believe they could still save someone they love.

SCARETHEATRE TIME 🎃 😈
Spooky time! 👻👻
The only thing I fear more than the endless openness of space, is the claustrophobic enclosed space my body will be in when I’m dead.
So your two biggest fears are two you are very unlikely to ever experience 🤨
@@Dr170 the greatest fear of all is the unknown
As somebody who’s slightly claustrophobe due to being well above average height and having a bit of a difficult time day to day as a result, this is probably the peak of that fear, especially given how nightmarishly and borderline impossible it would be to get back out.
You’re basically guaranteed to end up actually belonging in that coffin if other people don’t know you’re still alive and rescue you
What do people think happens at funeral homes? Someone just takes a look at the body and stamps it with 'open casket' or closed?
This happened in the state of Bahia and the people involved will respond for violating a grave, which can be a 3 year sentence in prison in Brazil. I can understand that they weren't acting in bad faith but rather out of concern... but that doesn't change the fact that they still illegaly exhumed a body. May this lady rest in peace.
10:57 not exactly, not all countries have the money to invest in expensive medical technology
the baby story is so insane? it reminds me of (usually) young mothers in japan abandoning their babies in rentable coin lockers. it even has a vocaloid song about it, “coin locker baby”
Imagine waking up in the cremation chamber as its turning on..
i can't even wear clothes that don't have substantial stretchiness or looseness to them because i am so claustrophobic...being buried alive is absolutely my worst, number one, absolute fear.
Thanks for the upload bro.
"You can be just get cremated."
Ah yes, now i have a fear of being burned alive.
Glad I could help in the translation of this video
BABE WAKE UP NEW SCARETHEATER VIDEO
Being buried alive has to be one of my biggest fears
Imagine having to sit in your poop and pee
Imagine being buried alive
But standing up
I googled it!! Came back and billions of people have commented, I got here 13 minutes after you posted 😂😂
very interesting video! although it did happen in history and even recently in modern times, premature burial definitely didn't happen by accident as much as people think it did even before advances in embalming and medicine. i was interested to learn that before there was a higher understanding of how decomposition works, sometimes natural activity of the body due to decomposition was seen as evidence that the person had been alive and trying to get out of the coffin, which resulted in many false claims of premature burial in the past.
The scariest part is how many ppl have been buried alive that were never found, got out, or rescued that died for real? Omg i got chills
U made my day by posting
It's kind of funny he recommends cremation to avoid live burial, but if I'm not actually dead I don't really wanna be burned alive either 😂
My surprised brazillian ass when i heard "CHAMA O SAMU RAPÁ" despite the horrific context, i just couldn't keep my laugh, i wasn't expecting that XD
Me rn, didn't really expect a brazilian video to appear here.
Salve salve, mano o/
Imagine being in a grave yard and all the bells start ringing.
The thought of being buried alive is so horrifying I ended up deciding I wanted to be cremated instead
Being buried alive for several DAYS? That is not possible.
oh god thinking about being buried alive was bad enough but getting cremated alive? at that point you will probably assume you just woke up in hell
jesus when you put it like that
The maximum a human being has gone without food and water is apparently 18 days.
God I love when ScareTheater uploads
As someone who's highly claustrophobic I wouldn't want to experience on what it's like to be buried alive..I'd be in a huge panic attack if that ever happened to me..
8:42 "this didn't turn out to be true, but stuff like this happened before....in the 1700's"
dude, I'm from Brazil I just googled this case because I never heard about this and found a link from the same site (G1) showing a case of a lady who was actually buried alive by drug dealers in may this year. also, don't worry about people going to jail for defiling a grave. This is Brazil.
He did mention that in today's world, people do get buried alive, but it's done on purpose by murderers, as opposed to it being done by mistake when someone seems dead but isn't.
so unrelated but i love that you use music from silent hill it brings me back fr
im just observing but i think she is not BURIED UNDERGROUND, its a different kind of tomb where they just put coffin inside and sealed it properly. just like how some cemetery in the philippines
nice topic as always, and i like it when you also give your own thoughts about it. keep it up 👍
New fear unlocked; being cremated alive.
this is brutal.
youtubers really be like: heres a video of a woman being burried alive. and now, time for me to shill my dogshit sponsor, lol
Note : Do Not Immediately Declared a Fainted Person Dead
10:14 i know this shit is serious and all but i bursted out laughing when he said "holy fuck". theres just something so funny about the way he said it
I agree with you.
One of the worst ways to go.
Great video as always!
Bro lives in 10x speed
You didn't even watch it when you posted that 🙄
Imagine waking up during cremation
The "Safety Coffin" didn't invent "Saved by the bell", however it did originate "dead ringer"
Are we getting part 2 on psychic medium anytime soon? Love your work man 💜
It happens still due to certain drugs that can make your pulse so shallow it's damn near undetectable
