Freaking awesome! Im 53 now and this was one of the first cassette tapes I ever bought in probably 1984. The Clash, the Jam, Pistols, so much spirit and great tunes. Super tight performance! Hello from Canada. 👋👋🇨🇦🇨🇦
I lived not far from where the Clash, Cook and Jonesy from the Sex Pistols, and the Who, Shepherds Bush London W12 started from. My American mate knew the Clash and one day we bumped into Joe Strummer walking down Holland Park Avenue. Joe said Hey Pete to my mate, and Pete introduced me to Joe. Very cool, down to earth guy, this was about 1990. Great seeing younger guys get into bands like the Clash and the Jam. Seen both those bands on each tour from '79 to 82. The energy of both those bands was intense, and I've not seen it much since those days. Saw the Damned 3 times during that period and they were so loud my ears would ring the next day. No phones filming, just great times and great energy. You guys nailed it , nice one 👍
Never heard of this band, will check out though, superb cover guys, my fav band too, am 63,saw them twice, still massively relevent today , always hard to play Topper " s stuff, such an underated drummer , kit man did well , as with guitars n bass , all on point , fine singing ,maybe a little more menace in the delivery ,all in all,,,, banging, like to see you cover Complete Control
Punk band covers a punk song, who thought lol, a lot of the a.v club covers was bands doing songs outside of their genre which I get and some were surprisingly good, but then there was this that absolutely kicked ass and I like this version as much as the original clash version
met the clash at thier sound check leicester demontfort hall 78 ,have played this song in my set as an encore nice change to see american kid stry to sing with a britsh accent he he does my old punk rock heart good
@@MM-of1vf that Against Me had ever played a Clash Cover. I love Janie Jones but its weird to hear Tom sing this as Joe Strummer sang pretty clearly whereas Tom (when he was still Tom) had this screamo way of singing (see the first three AM records). But still great. Those were the days...Any recommendation as to a new Against Me on the horizon?
@@SvenGeorgiev No. I found this video while searching for JJ covers. For me, the best cover is by the band Banana Split, as I already wrote in the comment below this one. Female voice, excellent as well as the cover of the song itself.
As somebody who had been to 10 Clash gigs - and who thinks the Clash were the best - at least they play it in tune as well as with vigour, something the Clash rarely did when live.

Holy shit, Laura's voice is so different.

Looks like AV Club removed most of their AV Undercover series from their channel.

Against Me! is awesome. I highly recommend their album Searching For a Former Clarity.
They forgot to turn the mic on for James...
That was unbelievable, loved it.
I love the Clash, I love Against Me! I approve.
Wow, they really do the song justice--nice! And I dig the little "Tommy Gun" coda at the end.

Hadnt picked that up before you mentioned! But yeh, neat!
Saw them play this live at a Chicago show around this time. Very cool.
Love The Clash, love this song. Sharleen Spiteri of Texas used to use this as her pseudonym when signing into hotels

Simply great!
top quality cover.
Excellent cover lads
Muito bom 👍
i like their clash.
It's crazy that the drummer, jay weinberg, is in Slipknot now. Wild
Ruben X Medina to be fair, Slipknot has 30,000 drummers so it’s statistically very probable
Still not the biggest transition from them to now... ba dum tiss
Loved the little Tommy gun on the end
That’s so great! 👏👍🏼👍🏼
I was a huge Against Me Fan and a huge Clash Fan. And I never knew about this!
about what ? JJ ?
