I'm a single, 70 yr old female and I just put four new springs on my Admiral washer following your video...it took me a lot longer than it would a man (strengthwise)...but I did it!
rayanne z 😲 Not trying to be disrespectful of your age, in fact I’d like to respectfully say if you can do it non of us should complain. I’m a 47 year old female in good shape, I should be able to do this as well. He’s made it so clear cut.
I know this is an old video, but it was very informative. Telling how to make sure it’s the shocks was extremely helpful (it’s my problem for sure now). The safety tips about taping the lid shut, checking the washer feet, and just being able to tilt the washer and not laying on its side were things other videos don’t mention. Feel so much more prepared to be able to fix my washer now and know that I’m fixing the correct problem
Thank you for this video!!! Our Admiral is 12 years old and never gave us any problems until a couple of months ago when the loads were getting to be out of balance a lot more often. In the last couple of weeks, it had gotten much worse, and I called our local appliance sales and repair shop they were booked up for almost 2 weeks. So, I did a Google search and found your video. Not only did the camera attached to your hat show **EVERYTHING** you were doing, but you also explained all the small details--like putting tape on the lid. Our local Lowe's had the shocks in stock. 40 minutes later, our washer was working as good as new again! Thanks again!!!
I had this problem on the same model in one of my apartments. Easy job but it’s so nice to see exactly how to do it, for someone like me who doesn’t fix appliances every day. Thanks for the great step by step instructions. You da real MVP!
Excellent step-by-step instructions and great tips by a professional. Thanks to this video, I was able to install new suspension rods on my Admiral washing machine in less than an hour without any additional assistance. The most helpful tip was right at the beginning, when he showed that the suspension rods needed replacing by bouncing the tub ... until I saw that, I was in denial that the problem was worn suspension rods, but my tub bounced around just like the the one in his demonstration. After installing the new suspension rods on my Admiral, there’s only one slight bounce. I’m running a test laundry load right now, and so far so good! Note: I didn’t purchase the exact suspension rods from Amazon that he linked in the description, as they had mixed reviews (and weren’t OEM). But if you search by the manufacturing number (MFG #: W10780048), you should come up with rod options with more positive reviews-for what it’s worth, the ones I bought also weren’t OEM.
So glad I came across your video! My Admiral washer was banging like crazy after 10ish years of use, even with me VERY carefully loading and balancing. This fixed the problem right away & for less than $50. Thanks for sharing your knowledge on this
Thank you for this video. It helped me find the model # for ordering the right parts and easily walked me through the process so I could complete the repair myself. This is exactly what I needed!
Bro thank you for your video, I got the parts that you put this video and I just replaced the suspension rods with my wife today and now my washing machine problem of the drum banging everytime that the machine went on the spin cycle is fixed. This video really worked and easy to do. If you have this problem follow this guy's video.
Thank you so very much for this video!!! I followed your instructions and changed mine out while my husband was working out of town!! It was an easy repair and only took about 30 minutes thanks to you and your video!!!
Ok so I've just changed the struts in a ROPER washer exact same procedure as this... But NONE of the other instructions included your tip about adjusting the post feet on the bottom. So I will definitely have to go back and make this adjustment. Thank You, from a maintenance/service person in Arkansas.
Thank you! It took me an hour and 15 minutes to do what you did in 13, but DID it and saved 300 bucks. Ps, SHOULD have worn gloves, am bleeding from 2 places, but second load is running! Thanks again
Thank you so much for sharing this and showing in such a simple way, my husband and I were able to repair our machine. Thanks for the amazon link! So grateful for your help sharing your knowledge and access to the correct parts. May God bless you and your family for your kindness!
thank you for this very good tutorial. It makes it simple to follow. Especially the diagnostic at the beginning to see if this was my problem. No one else had that part.
Well done. Very informative video with a lot of detail. Just had one of the shocks break loose on one corner so I’m gonna go ahead and order a whole new set pull the thing outside on the patio and do the work there. Just wanted to let you know I appreciate your efforts.
Thank you for showing how to open the top! I had been wondering how to do this for a while now. Ours is a diff model, but same design and super old. Can't find any manual online that covers disassembly, cleaning/repair. Great job explaining in detail too!
Thank you for this! It was super easy to follow along and not too difficult to do myself. Plus, it probably saved me a lot of money. Keep up the great work.
This video was exactly what I needed! Instructions were thurough, added tips, even added that you might make it look a bit easier than what it really is. You deserve the thumbs up I just gave you and I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. One tip, and it's really not all that nessesary... Maybe if you jotted down a script or even just watched and recited your instructions a few times before recording them it would sound more fluid and professional. It sounds like you are recording the video then adding in the verbal instructions as you watch it for the first time. If you had more ooomph and structurally declared each individual part individually, it would seme as though you belong on TV or something lol. Anyway that's all I can think of for feedback. All in all, great job and thanks for your help.
This guide was super helpful, thank you! But after installing and getting the machine all put back together, it seems like the drum has been lifted up too high by the rods - it appears to be in contact underside of the lid. I tried running an empty small cycle, and one it got to the rinse cycle where it began to spin, it was really noisy and I stopped the cycle to avoid further damage. Any suggestions?
Thank you for using a recorder that I am assuming you are wearing on your head like a ? it is incredibly annoying to watch videos when the person is trying to hold his/her phone in one hand while working with the other. phone bounces around or has to be laid down and I miss a big portion of the important parts. This is GREAT!!!
Yes, I got a GoPro on my head in a lot of people complains the movement on the camera, but this is the only way that I I can record everything with point of you thanks for your comment and thanks for watching my video👍🏻👍🏻💯💯
@@DIYRepairsNow I would 100% much rather have a little bouncing around and actually get to see what/how you are doing than the normal videos that show the part and say "now we are going to take this off" the set their phone down and a few minutes later show it again and say "see, its off and now we can replace it". I can see that it is off what I need to know is HOW you took it off??? 😁
Hey there! I followed this video and replaced the shocks, which went well for about a month and a half, but now it's violently shaking again. Is this a mistake in putting in the shocks, or is there something wrong with the washer itself?
You’re welcome considerate to leave a tip The information is on the description of this video or please like subscribe and share to keep making more videos for you guys thanks😊💯💯
Mannn you saved my #%?! I have this exact washer and we try our best to balance the load and that sucker still! Bangs around like crazy on the spins. I will be ordering these and installing them when they come in. Quick question, are there signs that the shocks are bad? I will be replacing all of them of course, but like sign of a bad shock. Dude again thank you so much for the great video I will be getting some good pats on the back from the wife once I fix this sucker and she does not have to run across the house to turn it off 😂
I truly appreciate you posting this. I’ve had this washing machine for years and the people who installed it never did with the legs what you showed. So not only do I need to replace the shocks but also fix the legs. Do you recommend me getting a floor pan for it?
You’re welcome, if you talking about it floor emergency drain pan does are need it when you have the washer in a second floor or if you have wood floor thanks for watching my video👍🏻👍🏻💯💯 don’t forget to subscribe I will be uploading more videos for this model
My serial number is MOD ATW4675YQ1 will the shocks work in my Admiral washer. I see your number ends in 0 and mine is a 1 does that make a difference Thank you Will
I have the same washing machine and the written ot spins its loud thudding sound .I opened it up like I saw ypu do in the video. The shocks all look the same. Why do you change them. I see nothing wrong with them. Plus the top of the barrel looks warm and hard plastic ripped off and is on the bottom of the entire washing machine.what can I do to fix this problem?
I have the same washer and it sounds like a bunch of water is in the bottom of it, I can here it sloshing around when I push on the dump to test the shocks. How can I get rid of that? I’m planning on doing the shocks once the parts arrive but want to not make a mess!
Again..an example of a wore out suspension rod would be nice..not sure what some sighns of wear is..my washer is banging like crazy but my rods seem ok..but idk eightet..example of shot rod would be n8ce..no one shows it
Is a reason why nobody shows wear and is because it’s no way to tell they will look just like normal If you compare the one comes brand new in a box to the ones you have you won’t see any difference and that’s why you have to push the top down the only way to tell if they are weak it’s if the tub pounds more than ones wish that’s what I explain on the videos thanks for your message and thanks for watching my video
wow ! . so you say that we cant tell the new shock from the old one ? there isnt but 3 ways that the shock can fail, other than coming loose. And that is the plastic is wearing out , or the compression spring is made of such a low grade metal that it cant retain it's outward force , or the long hook rod is made of such cheap metal that it dont have the ability to retain its tensile strength. im angered and saddened at the same time. is there a replacement shock that has stainless steel hook rods & compression springs , and maybe the plastics are made from delrin. ? or are we just suposed to let the mfg. companies make sub-standard products and not tell that they have used planned obselance & expect us to buy products and act like they are suposed to fail ?
My opinion is they don’t make Appliance like they used to in this case is the springs (shocks) they start giving up and getting weak So what I think is this shocks are like your car shocks if you put a lot of weight you’ll have to replace them more often so I believe those shocks are built to last between 3 to 4 years because remember the companies allow you to stay in warranty up to four years so that is the maximum that you can expect from a Appliance without having to call a technician if you have to replace the shocks before those four years is because people don’t know how to use the washer they overload the washer in some scenarios they remove the agitator so people see there is more space and they put more clothes but the reality is that if you look at the manual and use the washer according to the paperwork you shouldn’t have to replace any parts within four years what I’m saying is half of the fall is from companies and the other one is from homeowners (customers) no Appliances are high maintenance people supposed to call a technician once a year to do maintenance in to do a check out to let them know why could be going wrong but nobody does that thanks for your comment💯💯👍🏻👍🏻

Hi there! Can you list all the tools you used in this video? I'm new to home repair.
Sometimes it can be wet heavy clothing. In my case it was a hoodie. Once removed the rest of the clothes spinned with no banging.
Who do you order from? I need the part #.

Thank you!

What if I push it down and it bounces once but still violently bangs/jumps around sometimes (not every wash cycle)?
You have to adjust the 4 legs on the bottom and make sure the cabinet of the washer is not touching the floor
Thanks!!
