    Thanks for the idea about moving the top plastic bin from the door. Great idea. Your videos are always so informative and delivered with such enthusiasm. Your love for RVs, and Tabs in particular, is obvious. You simplify the diverse world of RVs for those of us who are intimated by what must be done.
    We live in a very dry environment, so I just emptied and turned the fridge off for the winter and stuck an open box of baking soda in it.

    Where did you get that nice thermometer that is clipped to the shelf? It doesn't take up any space on the shelf. Very nice.

    This by far is one of the best RV fridge on the market. In my opinion most RV consumers don’t understand it at all. Thanks for another excellent video.

    “A mighty little frig”....totally agree. Love your tip about using the upper door container for smaller items. Gonna go dig mine out of the box in the basement now. I do turn the control switch down on the second day to “3” also. Experienced frozen eggs and learned our lesson.

    Thanks for another great Take5. Before we got our TAB400, I argued against buying it because I thought the refrigerator was too small and my wife, completely in love with everything about the T@B, said it would be fine. Well we bought the trailer and went on a six week trip this past summer...I have to admit that she was right and the fridge/freezer was completely adequate. We put a can beverage in when taking one out and never needed a supplemental cooler. Love not having to worry about being level, and the low power consumption when boondocking, and having a freezer that keeps us supplied with ice cubes. Also want to thank you both for the recent "Packing and Organizing" video which was super! Like many of your subscribers I too love your idea of the packing cubes.Thanks for the tips!

    Always making us smarter! Interesting article about Danfoss compressor system, especially on it's efficiency of working properly when INSTALLED correctly (proper insulation, etc). At least you have the reassurance of quality craftsmen from NuCamp! 👍
    I do enjoy our LGMax 4 cubic ft 3-way Dometic fridge that is next to wardrobe, so user friendly for cooking purposes...but I do realize you need to be somewhat level to operate... could be a problem with some off-roaders/boondockers.
    One thing's for sure - with today's new technology and tomorrow's new RVer's, the choices for that "perfect fit" is a lot closer!
    Safe travels to the factory, much love and see you #ondowntheroad 💜

    Thanks for the video and the review of the fridge, along with your tips for making it fit as much as possible. I looked at a 400 today and was disappointed it didn't have the larger fridge in it, but now I'm not so sure, because I do love that wardrobe. And, we could always get a small portable fridge/freezer for the TV.

    • @TravelswithDelaney

      We love the wardrobe and wouldn't give it up for a refrigerator that is only about 1 cf bigger. We just carry a cooler in the car with us if we need additional storage space on really long trips.

    TWD.. thanks so much for all your information. I realize you no longer have the Tab 400, but I i a question regarding the fridge I hope will can/will be able to answer. With the smaller option fridge was there any issues with getting and keeping it cold using the batteries or when off-grid? We are weighing our options between the two options available.. love the storage with the 2-way but want to be sure it is adequate for 3-4 days (space and not a huge drain on batteries). We would look to have solar but not lithium to start.

      I don't have a video on that fridge. I believe it is a Norcold 3 way fridge. It definitely looks bigger but I believe its only a little over 1.0 cf larger. Its much taller but it is not nearly as deep because all of the mechanics are behind it.

    Ours is the classic 2 way Dometic, which is gas or electric. Wish it was 12V and not gas. We haven't used a single drop of propane since we bought our unit actually. Same thing for the water heater, we just run it on the electric option. We got a plastic egg container so we can stack things on top of our eggs if needed.

    Great video Patrick. I have taken that top shelf off the door to clean but never thought of using it elsewhere in fridge!
    When you have the refrigerator off for the season do you keep the door closed? Otherwise that light stays on. We have the door opened when it is off and right now I think Jim used some tape to push button in to keep light off. Do you use baking soda with door closed to keep it fresh smelling?

    • @TravelswithDelaney

    How well does the Freezer work? Do you know what the dimensions of the freezer are?

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  5 років тому

      The dimensions are 8" deep, 14" wide and 4" tall. It worked very well for us. On long trips, we typically bring frozen meat with us to use during the trip. Things like brats, hamburger, hot dogs, sausage, etc. We have never had an issue with any of it thawing out.

    Patrick - Are 2-way fridges always compressor? I have been researching compressor-driven fridges and while some say they are louder, it seems like they are more efficient and safer (possible fire hazard with ammonia leakage). If you have a rig with an ammonia fridge, can you swap for compressor? If so, what do you do with vent? Thanks!

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  5 років тому

      Freebird No they are not all compressor style. The infamous Hummingbird refrigerator was a 2 way with propane/electric

  • @FranfromFL

    Thanks for the great video. I'm a wannabee. That looks sooo small. If you put two regular ice cube trays in the freezer stacked up on one side, could you fit a pound of hamburger and package of hotdogs too? Would there be room to spare or would that take up all of the space in there? Just trying to gauge how much room is in the freezer. If I was full-time or used it for long trips, I'd have a hard time adjusting to how small it is. Having a cooler for cold drinks would sure help though.

    • @lizchilders4154
      @lizchilders4154 5 років тому +1

      FranfromFL, I put 2 little silicon ice trays and a small plastic container for when I crack out ice into it. That is pretty much all the room there is in there. Now, without the plastic container, you could fit a pound of hamburger in there and... maybe some hot dogs... maybe.

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  5 років тому

      Thank you for sharing that Liz! We don't use ice cube trays so I wasn't going to be able to give a good answer. We just carry bags of ice in a cooler in the 4Runner along with our beverages.

  • @kelligrace6490

    Thanks for showing the fridge. From your packing video, Patty mentioned she loved the wardrobe area. I was wondering if you had an opinion on the option for the larger fridge. I liked the idea because the fridge is higher (no bending down) and that there is more room. But it is now a 3 way and its not alot bigger.. at first i was considering this option, but not so much now. Oh yes one more question. When you are on a long trip, do you think the fridge is sufficient or do you supplement with ice chests?

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  5 років тому +2

      Kelli Grace We didn’t have the option of the 3 way when we got ours but honestly we would not be willing to give up our wardrobe for a little more than 1 extra cf. We kept a good 4 days worth of food in ours this summer. For us it works great. We did keep a 22qt cooler in the 4Runner for our sodas, water and beer.

    We have this fridge in our 400 but we have a hard time keeping it at the safe fridge temp when on battery when it's hot out (90+). Do you know if there is a limit as to how cool it can get.

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  5 років тому

      I do not know if there is a limit on it. We didn't seem to have an issue this summer but we didn't encounter that many 90+ days. I did always turn it up to "5" when it was hot outside and that seemed to keep things good and cold.

    Unfortunately, I’m writing this from my Tab right before I go out to buy ice and a cooler.
    All of a sudden, my Tab400 fridge doesn’t work either on shore power or battery.

      Old Codger Oh no! We were having trouble with ours last summer and they did replace it although later we determined our 12v battery may have been the issue and not the refrigerator. I’d definitely contact NuCamp on it.

I am thinking up upgrading to the T@b 400 soon , I don't like the floor material they offer. It doesn't seem to be easy to clean or keep clean. I like the floor in my 320 S. Does it

    I am thinking about getting this T@b 400 and have been watching your videos relentlessly! Thanks for the extremely thorough information you give out, it helps answer many of my questions.
    I have a quick beginner question for you about the fridge: Let’s say I had a 200Ws of solar and wanted to boondocks in decent weather in average temperatures 60-80F, how long could that fridge run on 12v battery? I know it would depend a lot on how we use our other electronics, but let’s assume light usage such as charging phones and laptops a powering a few lights. Could it run indefinitely in a scenario such as that?
    Thanks in advance for your help!

      Travels with Delaney could you give your opinion on the second half of my post? The question about the usage time on battery?

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  5 років тому

      I'm sorry...I didn't originally see that 2nd paragraph. I honestly don't know the answer to your question as we just added the 193 watt solar panel to our 400 and have not tried it out yet. I can tell you that the refrigerator is very energy efficient on battery. In addition to overall energy consumption, it would also depend on how much sun you are getting on a daily basis. I have been told that the panel that NuCamp is currently using (which is what we just had installed) does a great job of capturing energy. We will find out in a month when we are in Florida. I plan to run some tests using it and see how the battery holds up. Did you see this video I did on the refrigerator? ua-cam.com/video/saNx9s-gDWY/v-deo.html

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  5 років тому

      Now you have me curious so I just did some quick research online. It looks like the refrigerator uses around 60 amp hours per day and a 200 watt solar panel can produce up to 60 amp hours per day. I doubt the 200 watts will be the batteries full but depending on other usage, we should be able to go several days on just solar if we are getting good son. Here's the link to the article I was just looking at with this information:

    Wasn't the Norcold the same one you had problems with in the Jayco Hummingbird and do you trust it after that experience?

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  5 років тому

      It was a Norcold in the Jayco but that was an Ammonia absorption 2 way that ran on propane or electric. This 2 way Norcold has the damfoss compressor and runs on 120v or 12v. Talking to a service technician when we traded in the Jayco, we found out the issue was most likely not the refrigerator but instead it was most likely installed wrong by Jayco which caused it to overheat. No issues with our current refrigerator.

    • @ericvaneck4296
      @ericvaneck4296 5 років тому

      That is good to know how that turned out.

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  5 років тому +1

      We continually had an issue with the refrigerator not working on propane. We had it in several times to the dealership. Finally both Norcold and Jayco refused to fix it even though it was under warranty. That was finally the tipping point from months of frustration with the trailer.
