So I have a 99 2wheel drive ranger and my cousin has a 4-wheel drive ranger not sure on year newer than mine and he has a manual tranny that’s good I want and I have an automatic in rate now on mine and want to know if thats possible
Good question. The reason I wanted to do this is to get a lower gear. 1st gear at idle in the W55 2WD tranny is 6mph, which is too fast if you are trying to start from dead stop up a steep incline, and too fast when trying to navigate a bolder garden. By putting in the W56, even without the front axle of a 4WD, putting it in 4LO would essentially give me a granny gear for those situations.
is this the same problem your pointing out that i would find in swapping a 4x4 tranny into a tacoma prerunner? theres a vid on what i want to do: ua-cam.com/video/4vKz39bwN68/v-deo.html but im not sure what transmission i should be looking for.
Thank you for answering my question as the owner of a 2wd in need of a 4wd. This video is very much appreciated 👍
Thank for the comparison of transmissions (W55 and W56). I always wondered what would be involved to place a W56 in a 2wd. Much appreciated video.

Fuck yea so informative you're awesome for making this video!!
Have you change de plex plate or can use for 4x4 and 2wd is the same plexplate
Excellent video!
I'm assuming this would be the same process for the second gen 4Runner?
Is it possible , not to change full transition and put only a transfer case with old transition?????
I don't think it would be worth it. Spline count is different on the output shaft.
Can the 2wd clutch still be used in the 4wd bellhousing?

I’m getting a 6.2 ls with a 4x4 transmission but my truck is not. 4x4 it’s for my 2004 Chevy 1500 and it’s a. 4.3
Did it work??
How much is the cost once you have committed going from 2WD to 4X4?
like $2-3k
Can I take the 2x4 transmission and put my transfer case on it in my 4x4 97 Nissan and still use the 4x4
No not usually
I want to have a pto tho
What year is the toyota?
Does the AWD bellhousing fit in a 1jz/2jz engine?
Can a 4 wheel drive 700r4 transmission go in a 2 wheel drive chevy1500 that has a 700r4 transmission
Yes
What would the benefit be having the w56 in a 2wd?

lower gearing
@@wil8115 he means really low gear, "granny gear"
Good for RV motorhome which requires more torque evenly.
Awesome 👍👍👍

W56 transmission still up for sale? Thanks for your vids really helpful
No sorry its gone
Could the end of the transmission where the drive shaft is attached be switched
Probably would take a lot of custom machining and fabrication to do that. It's kind of integrated into the housing.
Ok ive been brainstorming that for a while. Thanks for the info
