I've always thought mandolin was an amazing instrument, but I never know one could kick so much ass with a mandolin as Mark O'Connor did in this video. I can't wait to get my mandolin.
Hey, Mark O'Connor is one of the really great musicians out there! An awesome mandolin player, fiddler and guitarist. I was fortunate to see him perform with the Dixie Dregs as well as a solo artist. He has many albums of his own as well as contributing with many greats such as Dave Grisman, Steve Morse, Chris Thile Yo Yo Ma and more. Check out his solo stuff! Meaning Of and Stone From Which the Arch Was Made are two of my faves. Industry Standard by The Dregs and Stand Up by Steve Morse (Pick Your Poison) are fun listens.
Incredible! There's something about the mandolin that's always attracted me, as in I've actually found myself wandering across towns or fields following that sound to find myself at a folk or bluegrass festival I didn't know about. What a beautiful piece, thanks for sharing.
My awe is inspired at this AND my awe is inspired by Chris Thile. I would rather not spoil my own appreciation of music by thinking there is a " finish line"& only one who crosses it.
I completely agree but have you heard the man play violin/fiddle?!? He's definitely my favorite person with a bow. Buy the album "Jam Session"- It's Mark O'Connor, Chris Thile, Bryan Sutton, Frank Vignola, Byron House, and Jon Burr live. Seriously the best musical investment you will make.
Mark; I see your fretboard has a radius. Does it make it easier to play? I am a wannabe mando player currently building a double-neck guitar-mando. Thanks for sharing. I love what you're doing.
I would have to rate him in the same level as Tommy Emanuel, Chet Atkins and a few others. There is something they have that normal human beings don't.
This one is for the detractors of mandolin who say somehow that because the instrument is small the music from it is small. This piece proves the opposite.
I love watching people shredding on mandolins, theres something so awesome about it. AND MY GOD THAT MOUSTACHE!!

The man, the myth, the LEGEND! MOC is a true National Treasure. Never pass up the opportunity to see and hear him and his band live.
I know I'm kinda randomly asking but does anyone know a good site to watch newly released movies online ?

So wonderful, , I love the mandolin's treasure of tones in the right hands, , such as THESE, , it is silly how anyone could give this a "Thumbs Down".
This lad works the mandolin so well, in melody, harmony , rhythm , feel and dexterity.
Cheers for the upload fae Bonnie Scotland

This is incredible!
Mark, you are quite a superlative adroitest. I very much enjoyed the tropical feel that you brought through in this composition. Very enjoyable.
The multi instrumentalist master at work here. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
This is one of my most favorite Mandolin piece
Phenomenal! Absolutely phenomenal!
Totally awesome!! and the close-up camera work is perfectly stunning!
WOW your mandolin playing is clean and powerful !!! I'm in awe ..fuckin blown away ...
Holy shit.
Tess Weaver That's exactly what I thought.

FlatlandMando word
the hardest technique: to combine great tremolo with background playing at once, it has a name i believe but i don't really remember it
Most definitely a Mandolin, no questions at all on this one.
Sweetness!
trop fort ce mec !!!!
If I had a nickel for everytime I've had to push my jaw back up watching this guy...
Mark o Connor a bluegrass God
I love it

that's better mandolin than I've heard so far, I guess it's all about what you play
Why not buy both?
I will master this instrument
This guy is a genius
intense!
Mark O'Connor is "The Man!"
For a second at 2:34 I thought his mando was producing electricity!
looks super cool haha!
coin of the realm for checking a mando out
Sweeeeet!! Is there anything this man can't play??
Very nice 😁 👌 👍
Great virtuosity, but the artist looked relaxed while enjoying the music.
dont know why you put the "but" in there... a virtuoso is someone who plays with ease nothing more nothing less
Great stuff. He plays some fat licks.
lol touche!
Get one that you like, I prefer the mandolin but you could get both since a ukulele doesnt cost alot.
Just imagine for a moment....if his right arm had held out...the mandolin history that could have been made with O'Connor/Thile duets.
Both
Everyone I am so conflicted! I don't know if I should buy a Mandolin or a Ukulele!! HELP!
I would have to rate him in the same level as Tommy Emanuel, Chet Atkins and a few others. There is something they have that normal human beings don't.
I can do that If I tried.what can't this guy do???
It's like Mark believes he should let no note be inert!
¡Mandolinist unite!
I always thought this was played picked on violin.
He's just ... -O
This one is for the detractors of mandolin who say somehow that because the instrument is small the music from it is small. This piece proves the opposite.
after watching this..your still conflicted?
Mark was a little tired that evening; he usually plays much faster. lol!
I am corrected. Please delete the 'but'.
:U
the answer to the title question is definitively NO.
I wish he had played this a bit faster....
Wow. Not much ass left to be kicked after that...
