    In case it helps anyone: The guinea pig I adopted most recently initially had no interest in trying the Oxbow vitamin C cookie, which is what I give my pigs. I chopped one up and put it in her pellets, and she ate it. After a couple iterations of this I offered her a whole Oxbow cookie, and she took it right away. I haven't had any trouble getting her to eat it since then.

    My piggies each get a mini sweet pepper almost daily as their main source of vitamin C, but I also try to remember to give the liquid via syringe at least once a week because it keeps them accustomed to taking a syringe which is definitely helpful if they're ever sick enough to need meds or syringe feeding.

    • @Kt-cn2rq
      @Kt-cn2rq 3 роки тому

      Do you need to seed the mini peppers or give them whole?

    • @kainapplekreatures5855
      @kainapplekreatures5855 3 роки тому

      @@Kt-cn2rq some people will say yes because "seeds are choking hazards," but I don't bother and have never had an issue. It doesn't make sense to me seeing as no one was ever out there de-seeding things for wild piggies and they obviously did just fine. Also they swallow crunchy pellet bits constantly without issues too, and seeds seem trivial in comparison. That's definitely something you should do what you're comfortable with though.
      In general the only seeds I worry about going out of my way to remove for them are when I give them apple or pear cores as their seeds do contain minute amounts of cyanide and there's no real research about whether or not that's something that could build to dangerous levels in little piggy bodies, so I don't risk it.

    Princess Petunia Vitamin C reviews: Childlife - blech ptooey. Oxbow wafers - take from owner and toss in air. Anything that ever remotely smelly citrusy - avoid at all costs. I am over two years old, and, so far, I still hate that slop. I think Scotty is somewhat confused about the idea that eventually everyone comes around. (Clearly he paid Gari off to get him to eat that icky stuff!) But even a princess, or, perhaps especially a princess, needs her nutrition. Mine comes from great pellets with an extremely high vitamin C content, and fresh foods - including yummy peppers. It can be done, with your owner's help.

    You're right about the vitamin C I had the same one when i used to have the 19 guinea pigs. Then after 10yrs later I got married and I gave new bottle of the baby vitamin C my wife try it out and said it too sour I told her is still good for her though. So I will take it with me whenever we go on a road trip and lack Vitamin C we take a drop I tell her to take it til and she goes against it. I told her "Take it piglet!!!" So my wife takes it and later on feels better. Another thing that concern me is when she tries to fast. I got very concern whenever she does this because guinea pigs gotta eat and she would fast got the whole day. Nowadays she doesnt fast anymore and eat daily.
