I Truly want to Thank you for everything. You have helped me when my Lucy had a ringworm. I did get a Emergency kit for the Pig's. I have even shared your site with others with questions. I love watching your pigs. I wish I could La Rescue.
I have had guinea pigs for a while. I cannot even count how many times I have gone back to the care guide for help. It is such a valuable resource! As far as illness goes, I suggest looking through the illness section before you have an issue. You will then know exactly where to find your answers as quickly as possible, and as Scotty says, you will know what signs to look for. Also, no matter how long you have had piggies in your life, you will always learn something new on the website. Thank you Scotty.
Please read through my free guinea pig care guide on my website. Your best bet would be to get a bonded pair. www.ScottysAnimals.com please check out my worldwide rescue list and please please adopt don't shop. If you get guinea pigs from a pet store they will not help you at all after you buy them. A rescue will always be there for you and you have many more choices.
Your guinea pig care guide is amazing and very thorough! Even as a seasoned GP owner/slave, I still refer to it for questions I have. Thanks for all the wonderful resources on your website!
Very nice. This is more like how your channel started. You have so much knowledge and education. Please try not to get caught up in all the negativity you do nor lost to the realization that “the best” care for piggies is not often affordable. Realist, compassionate advice for both owners and piggies is priceless. With food prices alone, it’s hard to feed human kids let alone feed Guinea pigs and provide unreasonably priced vet care in some states and areas. 💜
If you check out the diet playlist I have tried to show ways to make food affordable usually by buying in bulk you can save a lot of money. I have 20 guinea pigs at the house currently and I buy a bale of hay at a time and put it in bins. That cost me $40 and even with 20 guinea pigs it lasts over a month. That is 80% of their diet. Many people who say that guinea pig food is unaffordable are feeding and wasting too much pellets and feeding too much veggies. If you buy hay from the pet shop it is going to be a lot more expensive
My boys really are a couple of bullies when it comes to snacks. They just won't leave me be until they have a snack and it's so cute because they actually know what time they're due for a snack. They really do have awesome, quirky personalities. Just gotta love them. ❤️

I'm so grateful to have found this video & your channel. I'm looking for my own place & need some life there. I have fond memories of guinea pigs from school years ago. I'd love to get a pair of guinea pigs from the RSPCA, a national rescue charity here in the UK, but I want to do my research first so I can give my fur babies the love & care they deserve. I'm excited.
i recently got two boys from a (neglectful) family member and they are both so terrified of me and i was able to clip their nails and i see that has a huge win but i feel at a loss sometimes because they are just so scared and only one of them is starting to warm up to me but the other acts like it's the end of the world the moment i open my bedroom door. I cant even say good morning to him without him shaking and i feel so horrible, i want to pick him up and i do once a day but it's so forced that it feels wrong. (i pick up the other one multiple times a day because he lets me, just squeaks when i do)

Thank you Scotty, for all your videos and information! I love all your piggies but I love pipsqueak sooo much ❤️💝 please give him extra kisses from me. I loved seeing pipsqueak he is so precious 🐹💝💞💕
I have two boys, any tips on how to keep their cage cleaner when i have school? I can only clean it once a week on the weekends and its my job to upkeep everything in their cage. My mom also doesnt allow the fleeces, she says its disgusting to wash them in the washing machine. I use some basic paper litter (like for hamsters) instead.
I would recommend Aspen or kiln dried pine shavings and you need to make it a minimum of 3 in compressed down. Even still it will probably start to get stinky after 5 days. Some people have had success with creating a little tray for them to eat ham but basically potty training is not something you should expect to be successful.
About taming: I think it's important to remember that they have different personalities, and not every guinea pig will be really tame even if you do everything right. Some are just more skittish or uninterested in cuddles.
That is a good point Charlotte however I still think we should do what we can to minimize their fear because at some point they will need to be handled for medical reasons. Just leaving them alone all the time does them a disservice
