I have a '17 F-150 Platinum in Black, and I LOVE IT! I get all kinds of compliments. Very comfortable, no issues at all. I love the power deployed running boards. The ONLY thing missing is the ventilated rear seats and massaging rear seats. Would be nice if they added heated and cooled cup holders too, oh and a heated armrests.
I have '15 Lariat. I like the dash the way it is. I don't want to scroll thru menus to find the function I want. It distracts when you drive. It's easier and safer to have knobs and buttons you can memorize and do everything without looking down. To me changing something on the screen is the same as texting and driving. I can look straight ahead and change my AC temp because I know where the knob is. I hope Ford think hard before they put everything on a screen. Just because RAM does it doesn't mean it's right and safer. The aluminum alloy body is a big advantage. No rust and it's stronger and lighter. The front door low cut improves blind spot visibility. The tail gate step is a must. Very useful. Safer for kids. The 3.5L eco is a beast. Fast and powerful with better fuel economy than the big V8 engines. I love my Lariat the way it is. But everyone can buy what they want. It's a free country.

Shark Fin Antenna: I believe the shark fin antenna is a satellite antenna. The old school antenna is for broadcast radio. They are different frequency ranges. Lots more technical explanation is available if you are curious. Have a good one. By the way, I am trying to decide between Ram & Ford.
If you’re gonna get the 3.5 Platinum then just pay a little more and get the Limited with the HO 3.5. I would only get the Platinum if I wanted a different engine like v8 or diesel.
You asked why on the antenna. Most likely because AM and FM frequencies need a certain length of antenna in order to capture enough signal. A stubby antenna has windings in it to equal the length of that longer antenna, but still need to be a certain length in order to capture the signal and may not integrate well in the shark fin that houses both the GPS and SiriusXM antenna. They do make them though for GPS and AM/FM, Or SiriusXM and AM/FM but not for all three that I have seen. They could put two of them on, that would get rid of the tall one, but I like having it because it sticks up just past the roof so it it touches anything it is early warning that the roof might hit it too. You know, Curb Feeler for the roof. :)

I own a 2014 Tacoma and I’ve honestly I’ve been looking for a 2nd truck. Wouldn’t mind one of these Edit: F150s have those long whip antennas because most f150 owners listen to AM stations (Yes ford did a survey on that) and the Shark fin antenna doesn’t work as well at receiving signals as the whip antenna so Ford kept it.
Since there are only so many pickups, you should try getting coverage on either volume models (XLT, bighorn, LT/custom, ect) for under 50k or work truck models (base trims) for under 40k. I get luxury trucks show you everything, but for example if you look at models, then the GM interior is actually top tier. Its also interesting to see what they can squeeze in for the price, you will actually see a variety of engines too.
@@RaitisRides I see vids on the STX package trucks, but other than that its all higher end spec, whether it be luxury or high end offroader. Im talking trucks with vinyl interiors and manual windows when I say work truck
I love these trucks, but they're getting too damn expensive. Me and my wife got the Ram 1500 limited fully loaded, and it's crazy that you're paying luxury prices for what I would assume isn't categorized as a luxury vehicle.
You are correct. Most foreign car manufacturers have integrated the radio (AM/FM) antenna on to the front windshield. There's a thin copper grid that goes along the edges of the front windshield. I guess Ford has it's reasons for not integrating the antenna, but I am curious as to why (outside of material cost). It would make the truck A LOT cleaner looking.
Morning Joe, Any updates the consumption issue this information should be available to the Ford dealership by now.Just do a search on UA-cam and you can see it is a real Issue......
Driven both at our shop. I prefer the Ram honestly. Especially the King Ranch Edition. Better riding truck as well. Ppl beat the hell outta the F150 rental trucks and the steering wheel was loose and falling apart etc.
awesome and fast trucks the fords but watch out for the death rattle hope they fixed that they didnt on my 2018 f 150 and it has 15000 on it mines red magma to
I had a 2011 F150 for 6 years. I loved my Ford inside and out. As I've become in the market for a new truck, im leaning towards the Ram Night Edition due to the fact that it looks WAY nicer than this 70k truck. The Ram I'm interested in is also 20k cheaper. Sorry Ford, the Ram's got you beat.
The shark fin antenna is for the SiriusXM (possibly some other connectivity services). The fender antenna is just for AM/FM radio reception and in most new vehicles it is embedded in the rear window. I would like to see it in the rear window or integrated into the shark fin because it looks cleaner and wouldn't catch going into the garage!
I fell in love with my truck first time, great technology and amazing look but unfortunately so many problem here with my 2018 F150 V8 5.0 engine... oil consumption then coolant consumption/ engine knocking noise while accelerating / rattle noise when deceleration and the dealership replaced the engine and cylinder heads twice. for now i still have the coolant consumption issue and the knock noise and the dealership trying to say it's a normal characteristic noise. i gave up with this truck and fighting for a buyback with CAMVAP in Canada. i'm just hoping they will get me out of this truck. better to search for powertrain issues for these before buying. @1RW8 @gyFs @LOMs
I need a truck to pull a travel trailer that weighs roughly 10,000 pounds. I will be living in the trailer due to work moving every 2-3 months. Will this be enough or should I look at a f250
Like the truck overall except for the price! There are lower trim levels that are cheaper I'm sure. I'll keep our aging Dodge Ram 3500 and Toyota Tacoma, both are running and driving well, although the larger truck requires more maintenance. I may consider a gently used one down the road but 68k is outlandish for a pickup to travel in and haul stuff every day.
I had the 2014 Lariat with the 3.5 turbo. It was a nice truck, no problems. But I did worry about the possibility of a turbo failure. It still only has 6 cylinders doing the work and lacks decent truck sound. I'm not brand loyal even though most of my trucks have been Fords. That said, I like vanilla but I like trying other flavors so I traded it at 66,000 for a gmc denali 1500 a couple years ago. Then i drove a 2020 Ram. I bought it! Best driving, best riding truck I've had. And the Hemi V8 sounds awesome. I'll keep the Ram.
F150 is still the King for me.

I will get that together with you!
James if you look through my reviews I have done pretty much every trim.
You are so very right!
I would guess the "shark fin" deals with digital connectivity and satalite radio, then the ariel handles the standard FM/AM radio?
Yes. I’m buying one this week and that’s it.
How many times did he say "business"....
Ppl beat the hell outta the F150 rental trucks and the steering wheel was loose and falling apart etc.
awesome and fast trucks the fords but watch out for the death rattle hope they fixed that they didnt on my 2018 f 150 and it has 15000 on it mines red magma to
Thanks John for sharing that with me.
My fav trim level (I didn’t have the $ to go to that level). Still happy with my XLT.
Thanks for letting me share this one with you! I totally hear you on that one.
Picachuu 3 I’m a huge raptor fan, I didn’t list that just because I see that on its own category rather than a trim.
Adaptive cruise ?
Yes it’s an available option
It's standard on the Platinum. I have '18 Platinum and it has it.
Ford's still got the King Ranch right?
Yes they
@@RaitisRides *do. LOL.
Hey Joe I remember u did a 2019👈 Ford F-150 Limited in White. Such a Gorgeous Truck . Built Ford Tough 💪🇱🇷. Yes Ford does Raise The Bar 💪💪.
You have a very good memory!
@@RaitisRides Bet Joe 🤗
@@JayPatel-tx1zc Yes sir!

No. IT IS THE BAR lol (from the tv ad)
Really liked the sense of humor, knowledge and the honesty unbiased opinions

I want to know about new V8 ford Raptor when and where it’s going to come out.
There is no info about it.
what is the payload on a platinum with the 3.5 echo and 3.55 rear axle ratio?
Joe im"Feeling"that F150😍😍❗
It gets a full redesign for the 2021 model year. Just wait for that one. Wireless charging will (finally) arrive with hopefully a nicer interior.
It will be interesting to see how this turns out Michael.
I need a truck to pull a travel trailer that weighs roughly 10,000 pounds. I will be living in the trailer due to work moving every 2-3 months. Will this be enough or should I look at a f250
F250
Joe, uh, please forgive me once again, but your description on the bottom says F-140 lmao😂😂😂😂
Special ed version
First things First , where am i going to put my snickers and skittles ???
I paid 50k for a new 2020 xlt model is that a good price? Cad$$
I swear he has a totally different snack name mentioned for almost every other vehicle 🤣
it seems that all these "FullSize"are more alike than different.but still a beautiful truck!😍😎😎!
Thank you for sharing your input and perspective! I appreciate you watching!
Show a f150 single cab
I will get that together for you!
Hello Joe can you advise on the oil consumption that the 5.0 motor is having on the 2018&2019 models ?
I will find out for you Al!
I have a 2018 5.0 crew cab 4x4. no oil consumption issues at all
68K!? No Thanks
Don't buy new
I'm looking at used 2019 platinums for 35-40
@@Takeruskep your dreaming at that price used

I misspoke
I was talking about the king Ranch
I double checked the listings on the dealers
Used for 36k in Miami 20k miles crazy
Great truck
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
Wish the interior was like the new Ram trucks
