- We had been planning this Mojave Road overland trip for several months and we would have never imagined we would get hit with a snow storm along the way. We spent 4 days and 3 nights along this historic trail exploring the interesting geological structures, historical landmarks and quickly man made relics.... it was truly and unforgettable adventure! #mojavetrail #jeepwrangler #overlanding

This is my kind of wheeling. The extreme stuff is great to watch and all but this is more what I'm interested in. Great episode as always.
Totally agree!
same here..rock crawling is like opening up your wallet and working overtime cause something is guaranteed break
@@pmurphy12667 plus you go 2mph all day
Same. To me, wheeling is getting out and getting into nature. I don't need my rig to go up a 45⁰ rock face. I need my rig to get me somewhere my wife's CX5 can't.
Brad, another incredible film. Thanks for setting up the camera, driving back and forth multiple times, exporting footage, trimming, moving, recording voiceovers, searching for all the right music, and adding the effects to make our experience better. It’s not wasted on us, WE LOVE IT!
Thank you so much! I genially enjoy trying to capture the adventures and share it with you all.
@@TrailRecon You videos speak for themselves. Superb job of sharing with your viewers, Brad!!
@@TrailRecon I'm sure you've probably said this previously, but what brand of grill does Marco have that he's using in your videos? Thanks.
Jeremy McLerran was thinking the same thing. Great quality you can tell the work put in was immense!
instaBlaster...
Maybe Marco should start his own "Camp Cooking with Marco" channel... Those tacos looked amazing. Wouldn't mind getting the recipe...
Or, a real sample! Yum! 😋
I would religiously watch that.
Jeremy McHenry I totally agree, but at least now we got the book 🇺🇸😎🥓🍻
Absolutely fantastic what Marco is doing out on the trail...
I would subscribe
Totally would subscribe
Thanks for putting GPS coordinates in the video. Makes it much easier to plan a route and know where the landmarks are. Like you said, can't stop for too long because of how long the trail is.
Glad it is helpful!
I do not know why people do not enjoy being out in the desert. I see nothing but remarkable beauty all around! As well as being able to see for ever! Thanks, a fun video!
The snow made it perfect!
Having Marco along as the cook makes this so much better! lol
Dude I could smell those fish tacos!
He is such a great camp cook!
@@TrailRecon i was always the camp cook on the pismo trips. that was long ago before they started counting vehicles. 4th of july would see 100,000 people.
Brad, that was awesome!! Your adventures get better and better!! The snow was a great unexpected highlight that's for sure. Thank you for sharing the gps coordinates, and those recipes!! Thanks again Brad!!
What a dreamy trip. You couldn't ask for a more beautiful and surprising trip. All the pleasure of snow without the mud. Not many people get to experience mojave road like you did.
Wow, talk about an EPIC adventure!!!! Thanks for taking the time to put together another awesome video, Brad!
I put a rock there about 18 years ago
Tony Wright - Thats crazy. I turned 18 in 2018 and i drive a 2008 Wrangler that my dad bought brand new. Its so cool knowing that i first sat in that wrangler when i was 8. Now im 18 and i drive it daily. So its even cooler hearing you put a rock there almost when i was born.
Jonathan Michael that’s awesome. I get my dads 4runner Trail when I turn 18 in march. Can’t wait to daily drive it
I left it at 18 likes
Another gem of a video with just the right balance of off-road driving mixed with the highlights of the various rigs in your group and Marco (and the others) and their food preparation. Well done!
Great video! Thanks so much! Stuck at home with chronic pain but my 2017 Wrangler lets me get out and enjoy friends w local Jeep clubs. Mojave Roads now on my bucket list. Keep em coming!!😁😎
Another great video! Love what you’re doing man!!
As usual, you knocked it out of the park and into Mojave Desert 🏜
My wife and I are researching overlanding and extended camping off-road. This is one of the channels that we’re gathering a wealth of knowledge from. I can only hope that when we finally take the plunge and begin outfitting a rig that we find people even half as cool as you to share some trips with.
Great channel. Great info. Keep up the awesome work.
Thanks for showing that trip. I used to travel the Mojave Road probably once a year but the last time was about 30 years ago. It doesn't appear to have changed much. I never made it across the dry lake as back then it usually wasn't dry.
3:45 "Red skies at night, sailors delight. Red skies in the morning Sailors take warning."
This made my day, great cinematography! This is the video I needed to talk some friends into a great trip as this. Thank you for sharing and being honest about the road and breakages. That is important.
So great to hear! I hope you guys are able to put together a great adventure!
I could watch these desert adventures for hours and I do. Many thanks to all who contribute to make your videos the success they are.
wow! these are my favorite videos ever. Ive been a jeep lover for as long as I can remember and seeing what all you can do and set up with the jeep, like the tents, amazes me!
Brad, just an awesome video, the scenery shots are incredible. Hard to image snow on (or just off) the Mojave Trail. The last time I was on the Mojave Trail I had to put up with wind and heat. Marco's fish tacos looked great, he really needs to think about putting out a skottle cook book.
Outstanding!! I felt like I was watching a National Geographic documentary. Beautifully filmed & the narration on point. Very entertaining! Keep up the great work, hope I see you on trail some day!
Wow, that's a great compliment, thank you!
Nice to see the mix of rigs on this adventure. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to seeing your Overland West videos. Safe Travels and God Bless!
What an epic trip, thank you for sharing this and letting us all ride along!
What is with the flashing lights. That would drive me crazy if I was behind that.
Judson Gutheil those are trail light. Normaly used in race likethe baja. It prevent you from ramming the other vehicule when in convoy and lifting dirt.
@@cassias456 hey...could I get your email address.
I have a few things i would love to ask and also propose
Victor Keya you can ask here bud...
Vital if you're kicking up dust behind you. It'll save you a back bumper replacement.
@@cassias456 Yeah that jeep is not a racing vehicle in the baja. Jeep owners are a bunch of posers. Fuggin lame
Love your video! As always you knocked another one out of the park! Thanks for the gps coordinates! Keep up the good work!
Looked like so much fun Brad !!! And the food looked Amazing !!! Until next time , take care !!!
Great job on the video! I always look forward to seeing your adventures, thanks for taking us along!
I never thought I would say, "back in the day" but damn... so many gadgets....
we did this in old xj's with broken axles bla bla bla. nice work!
great video as always. I love the way you edit and narrate this trip's. you have a talent for it.
Awesome vid....great group of people having a blast in the Mohave
Amazing adventure and awesome work capturing the trip on video. Jeepin and camping on the Mojave Road is definitely on my bucket list now. Thanks for sharing!
You eat better on the trail than most do in their own home! I love exploring old Land marks like you did here and thinking of those that used them
They were eating the best parts, not the byproducts.
I know I'd rather eat fish and meat than tofu and rabbit food.
Enjoy your vegan food. I'm sticking to real meat and real fish and real poultry. You'll never convince me to eat vegan and I respect your decision to eat vegan. That's the difference between tolerance and intolerance.
@@AlaskaErik sounds like vegan is a libtard too.
TRUTH!
Another great adventure! That snowfall was a gift from the trail Gods..
The snowfall really was a gift!
Thanks Brad for your hard work producing this video you travelled with a great group of people and showed the overlanding experience to its fullest. By the way you would be amazed at the amount of people who won't believe you when you tell them it snows in the desert.
Awesome man the views looked amazing. Keep the vids coming man be safe out on the trails!
epic video, was just on that road couple weeks ago.
Does Marco have a camping cooking channel? Fish tacos looked good. I would love to learn how to cook some good camping food instead of hot dogs and burgers. Great trail videos can’t wait to get on a few of them.
Love this video. I'd love to take my JK on this route; I also love the fact that you put the coordinates on here. Definitely a video that will be shared!
As always great video and good editing thanks for sharing your trip with us. Thanks to Marco and all the team and it was such a good food also 😄👍🏻
The food was so good this trip!
every single one of your videos gets me fired up to get out and get adventuring. ive got my old daily driver '87 samurai ive been getting ideas for getting set up to do some micro overlanding up here in the bay area/ tahoe region. keep up the great work!
Right on! The Samurai is such a capable off-road vehicle!
Bro!! I got an 87 suzi tin top!! Hell yea!
“For every 1000 feet it only goes down 2 degrees...” Starts snowing 😂. But seriously I wish I could take a trip like that. Great job Brad keep it up!
No scripts here... we all knew what he meant! Thank you!
It's called lapse rate. Generally speaking -3.5F for every 1,000ft gained is the accepted number but it techically varies with moisture content in the air. Dry air will see a larger drop of up to around 5.4F+- while moist air will see less of a drop at around 2.7+-. It's just easier to say -3F drop per 1,000.
You do a beautiful job of videoing the trail. I miss my old 1969 CJ5. this makes me think seriously about getting another jeep and setup like you and your friends. Thankyou for your great work.
I love Marco! Everybody needs Marco in their team! Go Mr. Marco

Marco is wearing the VTX shirt we embroidered! 😊 also the spot Marco stationed at New York Mountain, that’s the same spot we stayed last year in January! It was super cold at the mountains! Great video!
Awesome shirt! You can get it from VTX! It was a little chilly that day!
OVRLNDX Yeah it’s a great shirt 😁
THANK YOU so much for posting the coordinates! I beg other channels to do this but so far of all the channels I subscribe to, you are the only one doing it. Again, thank you.
Awesome video! I just got my first Jeep and I've been out to Afton canyon at the west end of the trail. But having a proper 4x4, now I can do this whole trail. Thank you, I learned a lot and am now even more excited to do this! Cheers
As a mexican
I approve of those tacos
The beer batter looked pretty good
I can only imagine how good they were

Right on, glad you are enjoying the content!
I’m in love with that Jeep truck conversion
Great vid! Glad to see you back on the trail, Happy New Year to all the Jeepers out west!✌️

Dang it now I'm gonna have to go to the monument in my stock ass jeep just to see what the plaque says
Just letting you know that I am living vicariously through your videos, man.
One day soon I'll have a Jeep Wrangler and do these trips.
this had to be one of best looking off road trips that I've seen. the food looked great. thanks for sharing the trip.

I love this channel I just found it today, I've got my rigg ready now I'm making the first trip plan, found this channel looking for info and wow I'm amazed by the wealth of knowledge I have found a few things I didn't know I needed great work my friend
In case it hasn't been mentioned b4, you would be shocked at how much better a campfire would be if you would tote along a washing machine drum. Put it up on several football sized rocks. The wood burns much more efficiently, slower, the heat retention will amaze everyone. You will burn so much less wood and the warmth that radiates in all directions will blow you away. The steel of the drum heats up and radiates a tremendous amount of heat. The rocks provide a taller heat blanket as well as providing air flow and also heat up and radiate heat. Try it once and you will never go back to pit campfires again. I realize space is limited with your rvs but this you WILL make room for. Regular campfires loose more heat than they radiate.
Weight and storage make it impractical/impossible to take overlanding. It does help produce a better campfire, though.
My volcano stove works like a washer drum (like we use at Glamis!) It also works like Marco's flat grill. Also works anywhere you can't have a fire directly on the ground. Most highly recommend!
How many hours to cool down???
Great video! but, 34:19 "IRREGARDLESS" LOL :)
We let that go unless your from the “Department of Redundancy Department”. Another great video from TrailRecon.
It’s always a pleasure watching your videos and you always explain things to expect out on the trails. It’s a great thing traveling with other folks. I’ve seen other videos with solo travelers and it’s too solo for my taste. Especially for example, when your rig catches on fire in the middle of nowhere!
We just bought our first Jeep Wrangler, an 08 Rubicon Unlimited, after owning a 96 Jeep Cherokee for a few years. Your videos are fun and inspiring! They make my wife and boys want to go on adventures! Thanks for your channel, the videography is fantastic.
Awesome trip man ! I'm European but i would really love to make such trip anytime soaking and experience all stuff out there.. where i live (Romania) we do have some nice mountain roads and twice /year we do take trips with Dacia Duster club owners something like the off-road gang trip you have at the beginning of this adventure .. so anyway really glad i watched your trip so maybe if i will ever have the chance to fly there i might rent a Jeep & grab some camping gear and hit those amazing trails.. if you do more adventure trips like this please up-load them so we can get more inspired for future vacations.. tanks ! ;0)
Pop Laurentiu I’d love to see some video of your Romanian mountain trips!
I would love to head to Europe, rent a Jeep and do the same!
@@TrailRecon that would be nice overland bound members inviting you, we are here all over Europe and for the ones that I know, we would love to help you get on the trail!
@@mazevx2451 We don't have so many technical trails like you have on the west coast, but we do have a lot of great mountain overland drives here in Europe. Especially cool places to go in Turkey, even if it is not the safest at the moment.

wish we had trails like this in New England :(
Sounds like you need to make a road trip west!
Im in MA I share your pain. Only thing I got is mudding which I've grown to hate...or drive an hour to Cape Cod to take it on the Beach which is always a fun time.
we have plenty of great rails in western ma and NH and VT actually
JailBreak Overlander I’m from Western Mass, where are the wheeling trails?
Joshua trees are also in Arizona, in the Sonoran Desert. Joshua Tree Scenic Byway(US93). Thanks for sharing your videos. Great places to visit that you share
I got caught in that storm too Brad (on the Mojave Highway). But in my Hyundai Santa Fe AWD (aka not a Jeep). After hours on the road got turned around by CalTrans. Two feet of snow. Damn! Now you gotta give us a schedule in advance for your wheeling trips and then we can drop in on Marco for breakfast. Marco is the man!!
My 10mm socket is still at the mailbox lol
It was still there 2 days ago.
Now I wanna bring one of my rock to there too. LoL
It's worth it!
Fantastic adventure. I grew up in the desert of SoCal and definitely took that for granted. Your videos and adventures make me regret that I don’t have those trail options in my backyard anymore. Keep them coming!
This was awesome! I'm up at 1:30 in the morning watching this and living every minute of it! Thank you!
Way past my bed time! Glad you are enjoying it, thank you!
The key to those tasty fish tacos was the old bay.
Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.

Ahhhhhh this video no these videos are amazing along with marcos cooking. I think we all need a traveling marco !!!
I did the water crossing on 1/2/19 it seamed much deeper but I only have a 2"lift on 34" tires. We were the first ones through that day and it was covered in about 1/4" of ice all the way across. Glad we made it, lol.
Great video and fantastic destination. Only thought was - why so much stuff? We go motorcycle camping for a week with 1/8th of the stuff.

The more the merrier I guess. I would take a trailer full of stuff if I went on that run.
Great video, would you think about doing a walk around of Josh’s JL
yes, of course!
TrailRecon thank you
Great name!! And great idea. Just Stay tuned to Trailrecon , you never know when it might pop up.
Great video. I went on a Mojave run(day trip) 4 years ago in my stock JKU. I lost two tires and the water crossing came up to my headlights. No water came in the cab so I was very grateful. We didn't go past traveler's plaque so I will need to add a rock next time. Great trip for a beginner.
Another great video! GPS info is great. Thanks again!

I guess I will pass on the Jeep , stick to my GMC , thank you very much ! 😂🤣😂
none of that trail looked bad, looked like a subaru could drive that entire thing.
tank2449 i was thinking the same thing but, better to be over prepared
@@greygoose4x46 i mean my stock 84 s10 2.6 v6 4x4 4 spd manual with my all season tires could do that easily
Don't worry my Subaru will give a jeep or fj a run for its money, me and my grandad used to drive a 2 wheel drive chevy k10 around this area. The overland movement is cool but most places these folks go you don't need a jacked up jeep, just a case and some friends to get you through when a push is needed. Love, just another preoverlander
@@thehighcountrymedicalclini794 a case of beer? damn right brother. my stock 1984 s10 with a 2.8 v6 and 4x4 with lockers front and rear could do this easily. and i only have 31's on it with some trimming of the fender. its more about the driver than the vehicle. ive gone places that big lifted up trucks and jeeps couldnt make it. its all about hammering down when you need to and when to ease your way through something also. 2.8 v6 isnt putting out much power haha
@@tank2449 damn straight a case of beer. Ya it is more so about the driver, and horsepower really isn't needed I mean you do need it but not like some guys push for. Ive watched a supercharged bronco mash up a hill with 35's lifted the werks and it looked cool throwing dirt and rocks huge bumpers ect... then I watched an international scout quietly and slowly putter over the same ruts haha, with its stock size tires. Got to remember some of this stuff is a lot like the guy knocking on your door I the 50's trying to sell you a mirco wave, when all you need is 5 more minutes on the old gas burner. Take care, from flagstaff, az
The snow was absolutely beautiful! Happy Trails!
Great video! Love watching your adventures and checkout out all the rigs. Keep up the good work!
Would a stock Jeep XJ be able to do this trail?
In good condition with a solid set of tires, yes!
It sure will. Some sandy areas. Not that bad at all. I like the pace. Slow down and enjoy scenery. Done enough of the ON THE GAS all the time
Thanks guys!
@@justinhelfer2022 Don't buy a Jeep, worst idea for off roads.
I had a '95 xj on 30s. A buddy had an '03 tj on '31s. While he was getting stuck, I was walking all over everything. I have a YJ now but I'm looking for another xj to build for this type of stuff. In other words, I guarantee it'll do fine. Just get a good set of all terrains (bfg ko2s or the like) instead of these SUV tires alot of people get, and you'll be alright
