Absolutely, but you do still need to learn to cook healthy recipes. I learnt to cook from childhood, but I tend to cook rich, heavily sauced European dishes. I am a sucker for a Sunday Roast, or a rich chicken in red wine stew, or caramalised sugar apple with double cream. All home cooked, but not healthy!!

5 yrs after my separation from USMC I was 31 yrs old 308lbs with almost 40% BFP. I have chronic pain from injuries and allowed My daily diet to consist of horrible food substitutes (Taco Bell, chipotle, pizza)
I lost 100 lbs in 2 yrs and within 5 yrs was down to 14% bfp.
Some major changes I embraced were
    1. decide to prioritize your health above all else (I told myself my loved ones deserved me at 100%, not sluggish and unhealthy)
    2. create a goal to achieve wellness (written goals helped me focus when the outside nonsense started getting loud)
    3. eliminate enablers and naysayers from your day to day life

A great way to limit how much junk food you have and avoid these toxic ingredients is to either 1) Make it yourself! You won't feel like doing it as often, or 2) Don't keep it in the house. Instead, have it less often and intentionally overpay when you do have a treat by going to a high quality vendor or restaurant. Farmer's markets are a great place to start! I was able to find a lot of produce where chemicals were not used in the growing process.

I will give you credit sir: I am one of those "middle of the road" people who is both degreed, understand the implications of eating bad foods and, only do so occasionally. I am fully aware of everything you say and of course, there is a plethora of UA-cam video out there preaching the doom & gloom of foods many people unnaturally crave. (For reasons we both know.)
Yet, where I must complement you is that, you don't take such a 100% hard-core attitude. You actually are honest enough (rare in these types of videos), to allow a bit of "wiggle room" on some minor induldegence, in slight moderation, of foods that are not great for you. Plus the fact you plainly, quickly and non 'preachy' explain why a certain food is bad. (In addition to offering healthier option substitutes.) Very refreshing. Much success to you sir.

    • @Fitfatherproject
      @Fitfatherproject  8 місяців тому +1

@skatee99 - Thank YOU for being refreshing too, and noticing what videos like this are actually trying to achieve. Some education on what foods should be avoided where possible, balanced with an understanding that most people cannot or will not eat perfectly 100% of the time.
I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to leave a positive comment. THANK YOU!

    Good morning Dr.A
I just happen to run into your video and I’m grateful because I was recently was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and I started making life changes and it is so true of all the foods you just mentioned , I was eating them all . I started exercising and checking my sugar level each morning and noticed them dropping .
You inspired me more now , My Doctor wants me on medication but I refuse ., so
I’m on a quest to not take meds for my sugar level control because I know these changes are helping a lot so far , I lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks and feel so much better .Do you recommend intermittent fasting for diabetes?
Well thank you again I enjoyed listening to your video.
Blessings to you and your family.

Great nutrition very quickly tastes better and much better even, than we think the garbage typically does. After weeks-ish of our body and mind detoxes from bad nutrition to great nutrition - we will be positively shocked to find out how pleasantly this can taste. Eating habits and preferences are learned (even with understandably at times certain unintentional caveats) which means in blessed irony there is no need to be stuck in "that's how we have always done it" mentality. I promise that this is fortunately true. At 38 I was at rock bottom in all areas in life. Including 415 pounds when within a stones throw of my 40s, so to speak. Now 52, my weight is just south of 190. And I am not through with using nutrition as a major tool to a better life.
Thank you sir. First time seeing one of your videos. I am about to jump into the teaching and coaching arena myself after being medically sidelined for awhile. Keep doing your content brother and with your good attitude and demeanor. Again, thank you sir.

This was totally 100% correct and I wish my parents would have listened. Both died in their 60’s from heart failure and my mom also had diabetes. They ate all that stuff regularly. I’m 38 and the only thing I have a habit for is mochas, but not from Starbucks 😅 Oh and that Vitamin Water but I know that is a load of sugar too! Thanks for the video.😊

Grow your own tomatoes and peppers and make fresh tomato sauce! Grow your health! This way you can control how these veggies are grown and that the soil is nutrient rich! I personally think that the best way to improve your health is by growing your own fruits and vegetables! Grow healing herbs too! A fresh baked potato taken from your garden is so much healthier than eating french fries or chips!

A good video Doc but the problem is where I live in Australia it is very hard to get good organic produce - I do whenever it is available but I have to say I thought that knowing about the chemicals that crops are sprayed with was so prevalent. I wash fresh fruit and vegetables because I know I have seen apples for example being sprayed with heaven knows what in local orchards.

actually I think making your own sour-dough bread is better than buying some kind of low carb stuff. If you make the bread yourself you get to choose high quality organic ingredients plus sour-dough is supposed to be really good for your gut. Bread does´nt have to be low carb to be "ok" i think.

I've been making certain changes working out at my YMCA 2 or 3 times a week and trying to incorporate more vegetables into my diet. The holidays are kind of a setback where I've been eating more sugar, but surprisingly I've been slowly losing weight in spite of that. From late summer I started out at about 260 lb and now I am at 247 lb approximately in spite of holiday eating. I think the newest goal is to greatly cut down on added sugar foods and increase more fruits as well as continuing to make foods that are maybe like 50% meat 40% vegetable and like 10% grains of some kind like rice

However, check with professional health provider ( doctors/ dietician etc) base on all your blood works to know where & what you’re deficiencies before changing your daily intake. Cheers. ❤️😜👍

One reason why many people eat poor quality foods is cultural. Example: Filipinos loooove meats (esp. pork) and processed stuff like spam, chips and French fries. Your tips re French fries were excellent. My suggestion to you: a series of food alternatives for differing cultural backgrounds to address the cultural differences.

I appreciate your enthusiasm. A lot of people are being robbed of their quality of life due to our food environment and lack of education.
It's sad because most people don't even know or understand this. If they did, grocery stores would look a lot different. Everyone blames finances, politics, family issues, etc on their quality of life, but the reality is that the food is the culprit.

As far as the French fried potatoes go, You had a better idea using sweet potatoes, I'll do you one better use yams instead of sweet potatoes Yams have a lot more vitamins than sweet potatoes and they taste just a little better out of an Air fryer.
On the Ice cream I found an easy at home way of doing it. 4 bananas peeled, cut and frozen mix in blender with coconut milk and vanilla extract. you can also add fresh fruit like pineapple. Really works well, easy to make and hits that craving.

    • @thomasschellberg8213

He is cutting up yams in the video. People use the terms yams and sweet potatoes interchangeably, even though this is incorrect. Yams are orange, and what are normally sold in stores. Sweet potatoes are yellow and are a little harder to find in the produce section.
