  • A full review of board game Babylonia by Reiner Knizia, 2019 but only recently available in Japan.
I give an overview of the game; discuss the components; describe the rules and the set-up, and provide a critique of the production quality, the rules and the rule book and talk about who the game is for - or not.
    You want it.
    You want it now.
But you really want it in a deluxe edition that doesn't exist yet... watch for the full breakdown.
    = Errata =
There are a series of remarks in the rules section marked with a reference to this errata that were either incorrect or at least misleading.
Firstly, scoring ziggurats. If you place a token of any kind next to a ziggurat you score a point for that ziggurat and every other ziggurat that has at least one adjacent token. ie. a maximum of 5 points.
The tokens can be of any kind, either face up or face-down in the river, so it's true that tokens placed in the river don’t score for cities, but they do score for ziggurats.
The order of scoring is that Crop Fields are scored immediately, during token placement. Ziggurats and Cities are scored after placement; in any order, which can be significant.

Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, the game's astoundingly good! I just played a couple of games with keen tabletop wargamers and they both had a blast.

I've often been likened to REM's Michael Stipe, for reasons of hairstyle too; but in the opposite direction!
