I did the MGW on my 2016 Roush Mustang. I am not in the mood to do it again on my 2017 GT350, which I think shifts just fine. I did get the Billetworkz weighted shifter ball and reverse lockout. The short throw is not what I thought it would be. I always thought i had to wrestle it. But the MGW is well made!
I wouldn’t worry about doing it on a GT350 unless you were absolutely bored. You have a totally different transmission and shifter mounting in that, than you do in a GT.
I have an s197 with an s550 mt82 and that trans has been my biggest battle I get lockout where it won’t even let me get into gear from a standstill. This shifter is my last attempt before throwing it at a shop 😅
I’ve been driving mine all summer with it, and no lockout so far. I’ve heard some people still do have the issue after installing the shifter, and it seems like installing a better clutch, and the steel braided clutch line can help as well
I’ve loved it so far. Huge upgrade over factory, and it seems to have solved my lockout issues. I have no experience with the Barton’s, so I couldn’t tell you which is better. MGW does have a flat stick option in case you aren’t aware, but you probably are.
I ordered one I’m always getting 3rd gear lockout . When racing and trying to shift at 6900ish from 2nd to 3rd it 2/4 times say nope so I hope this helps my issues already have an rst clutch installed
I had bad 3rd gear lockout as well before installing the shifter, but haven’t noticed it since. I would think since you have a clutch already, that with the shifter you should be about as solid as you can get. Only other thing might be to do the upgraded line
It absolutely is, and I think it gets a bad rap just from people that don’t know how to properly shift. Only time I had issues was during high RPM drag racing. I would get terrible lockout usually going into third, and the MGW has completely gotten rid of that issue.
cut the stich and zip tie it. get the Barton if you are getting a shop to do it since its a pita . i got the mgw because they made it easyer to install and adjust so its a easy sell for a diy like me but barton flat stick gets me hot and bothered ......
I have not noticed any noticeable vibrations to speak of. There is probably more than with the stock shifter, just due to the fact that it directly mounts to the transmission, but nothing that has made me be like wow that’s really vibrating.
@@akgearhead right on yeah same here like you said it’s mounted to the trans some getting use to I guess. At least no more kick out throwing the gears 🤷🏽♂️
@@TheCardenasFamyup, overall I’m very happy with it. If you are having super questionable vibrations, I’d make sure and double check all your bolts and make sure they’re tight

Great video man thank you!
Really helpful mate, weighing up between this or the barton. Want to go the flatstick road. Have you enjoyed the shifter since?

The shift linkage bolt is killing me right now 😂
Just keep at it! It is not a great experience at all, but with patience you can get it!

Can you still use back up camera after taking out reverse lockout ?
Yes. There’s zero wiring attached to the reverse lockout
Could one assemble this all on the trans if I have the trans out of the car?? 🤔🤔
I don’t see why you couldn’t honestly.
@@akgearhead I’ll let you know how it goes! Appreciate the solid video sir
Did you ever upload the review and test drive? I didn’t see it
I have to be honest, the stock shifter is a little more robust than I thought.

Still waiting on the Drive man🥹
I will try to get a video of it uploaded soon!
I’ve just installed mine and notice that it vibrates as I go up in rpms is yours the same?

Looks like a pita. Prolly just gonna pay the $250 the shop quoted me
If they’re only charging $250, I’d probably go that route. It can be a very frustrating install for sure
