- I go out to my local lake in search of giant fish throwing only big swimbaits. Ended up having some success throwing the holy grail of all swimbaits which is the Deps 250 and caught my personal best !

I lost one fishing pole 🎣 one time I was fishing with live bait on the Dam and I literally fly when the fish bites and I Ran to take it but man it happens to fast so I lost a fish plus my rod 😿😿😿😿
Hold it in your hand next time !
Nice!!!
Thanks !
Sweet! 🎣😎🤙🏽 Damn bro you gotta find some better footing to stand on out there, right down on the water! That can really cost you a lot of fish! 😳😃 Lol maybe it’s just me, but I gotta know exactly where I’m gonna drag a big fish up before I even cast! 😂
Definitely stupidity on my part lol but yea learned from my mistakes !
@@TheFishCatcher Ahhhh man it’s not stupidity haha probably just over excited… those swim bait bites are pure drug rushes lol (notice how all those bites you got were parallel casts close to shore) They look to pin those trout to a wall makes em easier to catch than in open water. 😎🤙🏽
It's a bit of both lol but yea man gotta make those correct casts because they need leverage and that's when I get my bites but sometimes striper bite in open water too
@@TheFishCatcher Oh for sure man! 😎 Just saying they love to take advantage of em when they’re close to shore. I got one on the Punker this past weekend. Hit maybe 10 feet from shore. Ps: Nice set up! I love my Dobyns rod and I’m in the market for a Tranx soon. Pricey 🤦🏻♂️😁
Yea for sure and another thing is gotta be there within days of a trout stock they hang close. Yea bro this tranx is nice it's low profile too but hopefully I'll be able to get the calcutta conquest that thing is a beast. Also these donyns swimbait rods are definitely legit they feel very high end
not sure if you changed those stock hooks but they're trash, lost some nice fish on them until I replace it with some owner hooks
Sucks losing fish I replaced the stock hooks with round bend gamakatsus but the striper still bent em out. I now have replaced them with owner hooks
This lakes on my bucket list.
It's heavily pressured now but still has some potential
Castaic's best if you have a boat.
Boat anywhere is better actually haha
Awesome video!! I can’t wait to catch a big one like you 🤙🏾💯
Thanks goodluck !
Never seen anyone catch anything with those splashers. Great catch and release 👍
Feels great to catch em on big baits thanks 👍🏼
My old stomping grounds. Used to fish there almost every day 40 years ago. Upper and lower lake. We'd dirtbike back into templin hwy and get to where no one ever was. Before the stripers were in there in the 1980s. I caught a 20 lb bass from the swim beach on the lower lake one night in July 1985. 20 lbs. Looked at it for a minute, put it on my zebco scale, let it go. Pyramid was for stripers in those days
Oh dam youre old school dude I like hearing those stories and that's a freakin giant man I can't even imagine seeing that in person and yea there's some big stripers at pyramid still
If you guys enjoyed the content hit the like and subscribe !
True fisherman ! Nice vid, fun time.........there is a 19 pound largemouth in that lake. Thanks for the fun !
Thanks man ! Glad you enjoyed
Love to see you try getting stripers on a megabass megadog lure.
That lure is definitely on my list !
My first Stripers I got from the aqueducts in Fresno County. They're a lot of fun. Kept some to cook and eat. They're a bland meat, not like Largemouth or Bluegill which are the best tasting.
Idk how they taste from the aqueduct but the ones from castaic and pyramid actually taste pretty good. But for me black bass have been the opposite they're not as good as trout or striper in my opinion
@@TheFishCatcher Everyone's got their favorite. Good thing not all fish are the same. Some love the fishy-tasting fish like mackerel or bonito. I like 'em all and if it's bland, I just add spices or hot sauce :)
Umm. Please excuse my ignorance.
But how did that sea striper bass ended up in the fresh water lake?
They were introduced into the lake a few decades ago striper can live in fresh and saltwater
The grind pays off
Definitely thanks !
Nice fish! Keep doing what you are doing out there, you are bound to catch a giant.
Thanks I appreciate that !
Going up there this Sunday for my birthday. Any tips?
Nice happy bday I'd recommend throwing finesse baits like a dropshot or cutbait for striper
"He missed the hooks" Yeah, I really hate when that happens! Great video! Keep up the great work!
Thanks glad you liked it !
Lots of people don't know how to properly handle a fish catch and release very impressed
Releasing them back and healthy is very important thanks
Nice fish !
That area I get heavily snagged.
Thanks ! There's a lot of rocks gotta be aware
Really like how you include the setup in the desc man, awesome footage!
Thanks no problem !
Bro 😎
Definitely hard work paid off.
I felt like I was fishing 🎣 myself lol 😂
Great 👍🏻 job brother, awesome fish 🎣 and awesome rod and reel set up 🍺🍺🥳🎣🎣👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks bro after a few weeks of misses and not landing any I got one haha yea I try to capture it in a way where it feels that way haha thanks man ! 👊🏼👊🏼

Happy holidays brother
Wish you success and joy in life 🎣🎣🎣🥳⛄️🎅
Thanks bro appreciate it likewise 👍🏼
What's your 250 slow sink ?
It's a slow sink yes
That was a monster catch. Good stuff
Thanks bro
What kind of line and size do you recommend for big swim baits like that deps 250
Ideally 20lb test would be good but if it's a lake with stripers then 25-30 lbs is good. I've recently been using izorline copoly XXX and it's been great
Great Session! Love your technique
Thanks !
Man…. I usually fish drop shots and wacky senkos at Castaic with 4 lb test for largemouth. I might have to go pick up a swim bait rod now 😝
Love the video bro
Thanks !
Looks like a hard place,to land a fish🤔
Great video Fish Catcher!
Thanks 👍🏼
have you tried throwing a bigger joint claw?
I actually haven't but that's a good one
@@TheFishCatcher yea the 178 and 230 are my favorite for stripers
It gets good when they stock trout
Maybe 🤔 was a 25.pounder bro wow man 👍👍👍nice vídeo
Thanks !
Great video bro!!
Thanks man !
Good catch bro bro
Very nice my brother. Where are you exactly? I'm trying to figure out what part of the lake that is I can't tell.
Thanks man this was in December when the water was super low its right near the main launch ramp
hell yeah
Thanks !
It’s been a while I haven’t seen you since Echo Park this is Pauly D . Yeah water is kind of low right now up there my brother went up hit pyramid no stripers but hit some good trout glad to see you’re still throwing that 250
Yo wsup man yea and also these big striper migrate quickly so kinda hard to track em down. My last trip at pyramid wasn't great either but yea they got tons of trout in there right now. Yea been throwing it a lot and getting confident with it
12:15 rippin you like that with 25lb test! I’ve never fished anything over 15 so I wonder how that fight would look with a lighter setup. Is 25 the lightest you go?
Yea these stripers are like torpedoes ! The reason I use 25 lb is because of the striper or else I'd just go with 20lb test
Nice glide bait striper!😄Doesn't hurt to keep those stripers. 😎 They taste good too. The lake is infested with stripers. They accidentally got into the lake in the late 70's and slowly the population has very much affected the overall balance of the fishery. Used to be one of best largemouth bass fisheries in the USA thru the early 1980's to late 1990's. Now it's probably not even at the top 500.
Thanks ! I've definitely had striper before they taste great but I do also like to practice catch and release Thanks!
Helk ya!!! Gotta keep that rod up bud itll lower your chances of losing it
Trial and error haha thanks !
Every time I come to a spot, before I make my first cast I look around me, and before I cast I already decided where I am gonna land the fish if i hook one. U wanna do that before u cast, otherwise what happened on your first fish will happen and you're panicking and looking around u to see how you're gonna land it and that gives it time to pop off like it did. Plus if u have 25 or 30 lb test and it's just like a 5 lber u can just flip that thing outta the water and onto land. Just my 2 cents.
Oh yea you got it right there. I now have learned I'm just glad it wasn't a monster fish haha but thanks for that !
@@TheFishCatcher thanks for sharing though, I also think it might improve your land ratio to set the hook a little bit harder. I don't come there often because it's a bit longer drive but I've caught 3 striper there during the trout plants on big swimbaits. Hoping more plants coming real soon.
Such an expensive lure but it cant keep the fish on
Yea unfortunately the weight works against itself they throw it easily so gotta crank em in quickly
so nice!!! what rod do you have that tranx paired with? thanks bud!
Thanks ! It's a dobyns champion xp 807
Damn… $180 for the Deps 250… if I snapped one off I think I might cry a little
Yea definitely pricey but it's one of the originals and still definitely gets bit but yea it'd hurt a little to lose 1 haha
@@TheFishCatcher yeah. I’ve heard they’re worth it. Gotta pay to play… I’m down
Are these lures worth the 150 dollar price tag?
They definitely are but cheaper alternatives would be baitsanity explorer or g ratt poppa Pete
do you ever use floro on your 807 with your deps 250?
I actually never have but I might try 20 lb seaguar abrazx
What’s the best type of baits to use for castiac lake? I’m thinking of going there for fishing next week!
For bass I'd recommend using the dropshot rig with a plastic worm good luck !
@@TheFishCatcher thank you sir I appreciate it! 🙏
No problem you're welcome
Good job babak:
That’s an awesome session!! That last big striper was rippin line….must have been a slob of fish..gotta get out there soon. By the way, what dobyns blank are you using?
Thanks man ! Gotta get out there and try I'm using a dobyns champion xp 807 good luck 👍
@@TheFishCatcher nice, was about to get that rod at TW but it sold out….keep the videos coming my man!!!
Oh man I can see why it's sold out thanks !
Need to load up on those hook sets
Definitely thanks
awesome! great video! you're slaying them! I am not an expert my any means but from what I understand with a strong set up you basically just reel reel reel and horse them in. Don't let them gain at all. nice job. exciting vid!
Thanks man ! Yea still learning how to bring em in but yea didn't wanna put too much pressure since it's a treble bait but slowly getting the hang of it. Thanks !
Where did you get your 250? I can’t find any
You can get em online if you really look I actually have a it linked below if you're still looking for one
Amazon has some available now. eBay too
Both great places to find one !
Nice catch! Is the deps the "old school" or new bait?
Thanks ! It's both ! It actually still catches fish til this day
@The Fish Catcher Nice! Butch Brown set the " Big Swimbait world on fire!". I throw Deps,Savage gear, Mike Bucca,Toxic swimbaits on the Sacramento delta and clear lake.
Yup just little over 10 years ago he put the deps 250 where it is today. Those are all good swimbait companies man I need to try the delta and clear lake sometime really big fish in there
@The Fish Catcher Nor cal is a different type of animal,we have all four season's with the same basis of trout plantings. SoCal has a longer Bass growth season overall big bass everywhere. Put some gas and take a road trip!
Yea you guys have a nice fishery up there I definitely should !
Legit sesh out there..
Yea it was thanks !
Nice tranx!
Thanks !
I would love to have a bone g ratt sneaky pete on that lake
I've heard good things about the sneaky Pete might have to give it a try thanks !
@The Fish Catcher for 35 bucks it's totally worth it,just change out the treble and split rings,I've caught 3 striper over 40" in the last couple seasons on them and probably 20 over 30"
That's impressive you throw the 10" or 8" ? Yea split rings and treble changing is a must I do that with all baits
@The Fish Catcher well the poppa Pete's just got released so I haven't got to use them yet but I'm sure they'll destroy them as well
Looks like I might experiment and try this haha thanks
Nice session brother keep'em coming 👍
Thanks bro !
